Book Club

The PSAU Department of English language and Literature headed by Dr.Iman Nabawi Activities committee started the Book club. The Book Club announced its registrations on 3 September 2022, via Google forms which were posted on the department's Twitter- @EnglishPSAU, and the Book club Twitter account- @psauG bookclub. The number of registered members were10. The weekly meeting time was fixed for Tuesday 4 pm- 5 pm. The Book club is a part of the PSAU Activities Committee, College of Science and Humanities, Department of English Language and Literature. The activity was supervised by Dr.Wahaj Unnisa Warda, in charge of the Book Club and Activities Committee

The first orientation meeting was on 13 September 2022, it was online in a BB class and it was attended by 20 participants The meeting provided the general outline and procedures The Book Club meeting was on 20 September 2022, on which Saudi National Day was celebrated, where the presenters Sara Nasser Aloqayfi, Aljazi Aldossari, Noura Ali Aldossari, Mashael Fahad, Rana Aldossari highlighted the founders of Saudi Arabia and the culture Being a Book Club the main focus was on the contribution of prominent Saudi authors like Malak AL- Ogaili, Adel bin Ali ALGhamdi, Badriyah Al Bishr, Turki Al Hamad, and Rajaa Al Sanea This report was uploaded on the University website This was followed by Edgar Alan Poe’s story The Black Cat presented by Jawahar Saeed and The Mask of Red Death by Tahani Alkuberi

The second meeting is on 27 September 2022, where the Tell-Tale Heart was analyzed by Sara Aloqyfi, Mahsaa Aldossari and Aljazi Aldossari The other story was The Oval Portrait and the presenters were Noura Ali Aldossari, Mashael Fahad, and Rana Aldossari

The third meeting was on 4 October 2022, the stories discussed were The Fall of the House of Usher by Haifa Ali, Khazna ALhaqbani and Munira Gokhah. The second story was Eleonora by Sadeem ALhumud, Noura ALdossari.

The final concluding meeting on 11 October 2022 in room G-1-10 where a brief video about Edgar Allan Poe was played Dr Basant Moustafa presented her ideas and experience of having known her favorite writer Ahmad Khalid Toufiq, who happened to be from her city and university

This last part was a part of the Ensorasi segment, where faculty members are invited to share their ideas and experiences with the students which would serve to guide them It was attended by 31 members including both faculty and students

The meeting was concluded with the presentation of certificates to Dr Basant and to all the participating students
