And then it happened. The whole world got a virus bug called Coronavirus in 2020. This bug forced all families to stay locked up at home for a long time, and of course, Piki’s family as well. All the little dog and cat children in the world couldn’t have been happier about this situation, now they had the whole family at home all day to have fun with and play. Piki felt that his daily routine of being alone was over, and he never again had to watch from the balcony how everyone went off and left him until the afternoon when they returned. Those were the best months of his life. It felt like he was in a dream, since every day he enjoyed incredible moments with everyone in the house. He felt that his birthday wish had been fulfilled, which was to never be alone again and to be able to have the whole family at home, all for him, because, of course, he spent time with each one.
In the morning, the first one to get up, as always, was his human mother, Rebeca. She took him to the garden, then Piki ran in to greet his daddy, who was still in bed, and as almost always, waited for him to wake him up. When his daddy got up, Piki ran to wake up his brothers, who, still lazily in their beds, greeted him and went back to sleep, so Piki settled down with them to sleep a while more.
Suddenly his mother began to call everyone. They turned on some devices they called: computer, tablet and cell phone; and each human brother sat in a different place of the house to listen to and watch his friends and teachers on the screen. It was something that Piki always heard them call “Homeschooling.”
While his brothers were in those places, they did not pay much attention to Piki. He would bring them his playballs and toys, and they would look at him and smile at him, but they did not get up to play. The same thing happened with his parents, he saw them on the computers and talking on the cell phone. Anyway, Piki was happy because wherever he went, anywhere in the house, there was someone from his family and he could just lie to one side and be spoiled, and he knew that as soon as they stopped talking to the screen, they would run out and play with him.
And so a whole year passed, nothing could harm such a life longed for by all the little dog and cat children of the world. Until one day…
