A disastrous week for Forest has dragged them back to the brink of the relegation zone, and distant fears of a return to League One are gradually becoming a grave reality. Tuesday was an evening of rampant and unfathomable nonsense from a Forest side lacking any discernible qualities. Saturday was somehow much worse. Burnley is a miserable place for visiting supporters; a sprawl of decaying back-to-backs, crumbling community centres and a stadium screaming for demolition. But Forest were by far the ugliest thing in Lancashire this afternoon. Forest had started brightly, but an early injury to Burnley's Steven Thompson upset the momentum and Forest never resurfaced. Goal number one was the result of bizarre goalkeeping from Paul Smith, goal number two saw Luke Chambers embarrassed and the points put almost beyond doubt. There was no second half resurgence from Forest. Instead Burnley extended their lead at leisure; at one point the goals seemed to be coming every minute. It was 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 in reasonably quick succession – and it could have been

10 if they had kept on trying. One of the most frustrating things about this afternoon is that Forest allowed a leggy Burnley side to stroll through them as though they were Brazil. The difference between the two sides looked greater than it did last Sunday when Burnley played at the Emirates - the outcome was a deserved embarrassment. Forest's supporters, raucous in the early stages, eventually began to show the strains of the peril Forest are facing. Pockets of supporters audibly booing Paul Smith almost came to blows with those who took offence to the dissent. Some were driven to heckling, others simply buried grey faces into their hands to shield their eyes from the carnage. It is all very reminiscent of the last time Forest were relegated. Match Ratings: Smith – 4 – seven more games as Forest's first choice keeper. Poor distribution all afternoon, and a howler that pulled open the floodgates. Chambers – 4 – allowed almost every attempted cross to reach the box, melted into literal insignificance as they walked their second into the net. Morgan – 5 – not as many gaffes as Chambers, but a poor afternoon. Perch – 5 – not solid enough. Gunter – 5 – he looks a good footballer, but he made too many mistakes today. McCleary – 4.5 – one or two stepovers that succeeded only in ending our attacks. When he plays like this there is simply no point in him being out there. Osbourne – 6 – his occasional breakthrough passes were our only hope. Cohen – 5 –he battled and grafted, but he didn't get anywhere. McSheffrey – 5 – largely anonymous. He is a talented player, but he's struggling to adapt to life at the wrong end of the table. Earnshaw – 6 – I had a lot of sympathy with him today. No service to speak of. Stanley were determined to hold onto their lead and were giving very little away at the back, but the front two Facey and Forte were tirelessly putting them under pressure looking to latch onto any mistakes they did make. Coopers will have unexpected opposition in the final as Nottm Sikh Lions over turned the form book and inflicted a surprise defeat to high flying Kashmir. Nottm Sikh Lions booked their passage to the junior cup final in a penalty shoot out with the game level at 1-1 after ninety minutes the game went into extra time again the two teams both scored once to leave the tie all square at 2-2 Adam Nelson and Shuaib Munsha scoring for the home team with Steve Barrett and Irfan Zaki squaring things and with Kashmir missing two of their spot kicks in the shoot out it was the Sikhs who progressed through to the final. In the premier division Grey Mare United returned to the top of the table thanks to a 2-0 win at F.C. Samba Tony Humber and Matt Duik scoring the goals. Vernon Villa moved them selves up in to a mid table position and level on points with opposition Trident tanks to a comfortable 5-1 victory, Isaac Parker (2), Nathan Shand, Jack Barnes and Gary Fountain all registering goals with Nick Edgar pulling one back. In the only other game Gedling Southbank A earned a point after holding Headstocks to a 1-1 draw Michel Cuppit and Scott Brown scoring respectively. In the second division Clifton United closed the gap at the top to four points thanks to a Charlie Barrett goal in the game at Basford United A. Burton Joyce also kept in touch at the top as they saw off Notts Metropolis 3-2 thanks to goals from Dan Harris, Ben Trueman and Sam Buckle with John Frost and Mitch Green scoring for the home team. Netherfield Albion lifted them selves off the foot of the table with a 4-3 win at Arnold Town A, Fielding a strong team with the first team not playing goals from Danny Sessions (2), Tobias Richardson and Paul Nicholas lifted them two places and above opponents Arnold who had Nigel Towlson, Tom and Jordan Grady on the score sheet. Three Crowns put up another strong display and were unlucky not to take a share of the points as they narrowly lost out to Ali Islam 3-2. Two goals from Liam Young and one from Gary Sprigs helped moved Real United further in front at the top of the third division as they saw off Gedling Town 3-1 Dwain Miller scoring for Gedling who remain in third spot. Pegasus continue to struggle as the one time leaders of the division continue to leak goals conceding 36 goals in their last four games this week they were thumped 8-2 by Clifton United Reserves with Leon Isaacs, Kieran Green and Damian Humphries each scoring twice. Steve Perry scored twice for Bingham Town as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Netherfield Boys. Zico Benjamin scored twice for Premium A as they took all the points at Harvey Hadden running out 5-2 winners and goals from Ben Castell and Steve Platt saw Notts Metropolis Reserves take all the points at Nottinghamshire IV who had Matt Allen on the score sheet. COMBINATION - BEECHDALE IN COMEBACK TO SECURE CUP FINAL PLACE! A goal apiece from Lance Woodhouse, Scott Pickworth and a 30 yard free kick by Danny Fowens appeared to be giving Man in Space an easy passage into the senior trophy final until they let it slip in the last 10 minutes of their semi final tie against first division side Beechdale Villa under the floodlights at greenhall meadows. Simon Bates had earlier scored for Villa but it all looked in vain as the premier side showed their superiority and with time running out they must have thought they had done enough and took their foot off the gas which allowed two late strikes from Martin Cassidy and another by Btes sent the tie into extra time. K Walker and L Young both scored twice for United with M Nixon, S Warburton and A McPhearson adding singles. Greyfriars dropped to second spot when they drew at Kimberley MW, whilst Calverton MW had to come from behind to grab a share of the spoils at Bestwood MW. James Noble put the home side in front early on and they went on to dominate the half but failed to capitalize on their chances which they later came to rue when Dominic Clarke was left free to score with the last kick of the first half following a corner. Ac Broxtowe's climb up the table continued with a 4-0 win at Bear fc courtesy of Liam Webster 2, Mohammad Tartar 1 and Warren Halyes 1. Whilst John Hughes struck twice in Wellington's 3-1 success over Gremio. After another week of fixtures there is still no clear favourite to claim any honours in division one after 5 of the top sides all won whilst the other 2 sides in the top 7, AFC Bridgford and A1 Glazing held each other to a 2-2 draw. Matt Astill and Dan Casey both scored for third placed Bridgford who looked to be collecting all three points in the race for honours but two very late goals by Matt Singleton and Liam Bates rescued a point for A1 to remain above their hosts on goal difference. Beechdale Villa completed a fine week to remain top of the table following a 5-2 win on the back of their mid week cup exploits. Red wilmot led the scoring with 2 goals and he was assisted in the win by Martin Cassidy, Dan Haywood and Dave White. Terry Cavanagh bagged a brace as New Venture beat DTD 4-1. Another 2 goal man was Anthony Robinson in C.N.C's 4-2 win at home to Bestwood Reserves whilst Volo came back from AFC Hucknall 3-2 victors thanks to Ian Hughes, Scott Bradburn and Jamie Wilson. Kenny Drury and Sean Glynn replied. Two goals from Chris Burrows added to Nick Sherrett and Stuart Housley strikes coupled with an own goal gave New Inn a 5-0 home win over a recently improved Pure FC in division two. Matthew Penfold helped himself to a hat trick as Hamburg 80 returned from Rise Park 5-2 victors. Darryl Clayton bagged the other 2 visitor's goals with Mark Underwood and Michael Bannister replying. Despite trailing 2-1 at half time at home to Bottom Side N.C.H. divisional leaders Medz Reds turned on the style in the second period to eventually run out 7-2 victors with Daniel Beardsley top scoring with a hat trick. Second placed Blacks Head kept the pressure on the leaders with a\4-2 home win over Munich 79 whilst Newcastle Arms kept their hunt for honours alive with a 5-2 win over Basford Rangers. Lee Priestley 2, Chris Rooney 2 and Ian Whitely did the damage for Newcastle with Ian Leebetter and Adam Hassyin replying. FC St George beat Pride of Erin 4-2 thanks mainly to a Tony Redferd hat trick and a strike from Neil Wilson. Division three side Sporting Inkfish managed a narrow 3-2 win over La Toque in the battle of the basement and lifted them selves off the bottom in the process. Max Hamlin, John Madden and Ravider Saint did the damage for Inkfish with Loz cox and Gary Munroe replying for La Toque. Scott booth Top scored with a brace as FC Samba continued to push for a top half finish when they beat Southbank 5-2 away whilst Chaffoteaux kept up the pressure at the top by beating M.I.S United 4-1 at home despite falling behind to a 20th minute strike by Joseph Rowley. Wayne Evans pulled the high flyers back to 1 all some ten minutes later before setting up their second shortly before the break with a deft chip into the box for Andrew Barrett to nod home. Evens notched his second and Chaffoteaux's third when he chipped the advancing keeper and 3-1 quickly became 4-1 as Michael Rankins 20 drive found its way through a crowded United box. Chris Atkins scored two outstanding goals as run a way leaders Bestwood ReUnited beat Bingham Town Reserves 4-1. EMPAL - ANOTHER ALL EMPAL COUNTY CUP FINAL AS RADCLIFFE & WOLLATON SQUARE UP! Brinsthorpe Rangers are hanging onto top spot in Division 1 after winning the Long Throw competition out at Hall Park against West Bridgford Albion by a goal (throw) to nil. Despite perfect conditions Rangers were made to struggle by ten man Albion who competed strongly for ninety minutes in a niggly match. Both goalkeepes namely Lee Carter for Rangers and Tom Carey for Albion earnt their appearance money with fine displays. It all boiled down to the umpteenth long throw after seventy-three minutes that eluded the entire Bridgford defence enabling sub Danny Tring to gleefully nod home unopposed at the far post. A late run by Burton Joyce elevates them to second place after their surprising double header destruction of old rivals West End 8-0 and 9- 0. Star of the show was young Josh Croft who netted four goals in each game impressing the Doncaster Rover scouts no doubt. His fellow Gedling Town colleague Ben Allison managed five himself in both matches. West End struggled to maintain a full side as work commitments meant players departing for the latter stages of the double header but Joyce took full advantage to claim the points and top up goal difference which could be vital in the run in. Nottingham Law School are also in the mix beating Notts Athletic 3-0. Radcliffe Olympic are way behind the fixture list due to their county cup successes but technically remain favourites if they can compete to form in their outstanding matches. Total Reclaims Demolition levelled Linford Nelson 6-1 to stay behind the title challengers. Nottingham Medics overcame bottom side Freeman & Mitchell 7-1 in their battle to avoid relegation –again with matches in hand Medics should be able to finish out of the drop zone. Arnold Cross Keys march onwards to the division 2 title with a 5-2 win over in-form Ardley Athletic. Ryan King with two, James Townsend, George Farrow and Ricky Thompson sending Keys over the forty point mark for the season. Fox & Crown battling for the other promotional spot overcame Butler Benfica 9-1 to boost their goal figures with Kevin Spencer claiming a hat trick. FC Grey Mare Olympico crashed 6-0 to Clifton Bridge Inn to dent their promotion chances somewhat-goals from Brown, Parks, Murphy, Martin and Bruce. Riverside Moores have pulled themselves out of the relegation places in recent weeks with new signings making the difference – a 3-1 win over a youthful Burton Joyce B s catapults Moores into the safety zone of mid table. It's implosion time for long time pacesetters of division 4 ‘St Anns’ as a shock defeat and loss of points through disciplinary events reduces their lead at the top. Claiming only one point from a double header with Clifton Dynamo Reserves and losing six points means Caythorpe are back in contention for the title! A 3-3 draw and 2-1 defeat against Clifton means that Caythorpes 6-1 win over Toton Athletic puts them only two points behind and more importantly have a game in hand. GMB with six and seven games in hand can sew the title up provided they stay in contention through the mid week pile ups. Beating Attsu 4-0 and 5-0 in the first double header is a good start to the run in. Wollaton Pirates Reserves beat Real Bulwell 4-2. County Junior Cup Semi Finals Fanzines United 0 v 3 Wollaton Pirates-Wollaton Pirates looking to bounce back from last weekends Penalty loss in the Empal cup and Fanzines looking for revenge against a Pirates side that thrashed them 7-0 earlier in the season todays game was set up to be a footballing spectacle from the word go. It was however the Pirates who started the game strongest passing the ball around a lovely playing surface with ease, resulting in Fanzines having to do lot's of graft off the ball. The Pirates created some good chances early doors and it was Alex Doyle who grabbed the first goal, turning a defender on the edge of the 18 yard box and rifling a shot into the bottom corner of the net. In the second half Frankie Labbate soon doubled the lead after great link up play between Anthony Fragola and Paolo Pilero led to Paolo being fed through down the left for him to square it across the box where Frankie thumped it home. For their third Andrew Rigby and Mark Long combined with an excellent one two which put Rigby through on goal, he gave the keeper the eyes and sent him the wrong way slotting the ball home from 12 yards with a cooly taken finish. Radcliffe Olympic Sunday 2 v 1 Paragon Sports-Nick Richards was the two goal hero for Olympic putting the fancied Ollerton outfit to the sword with a brace of strikes. Sports had taken an early lead with a penalty and went in one nil up. Richards got his first punishing the keeper who foolishly picked up a back pass by blasting home. Cameo of the match saw “Iron Man” veteran Marcus Baxter indulging in a bout of “handbags” with his opposite number prompting his lady wife Nicola to dash onto the pitch to further discuss shoulder or clutch issues! Richards claimed the winner late in the second half to send the home fans delirious.

NOTTS SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE - GREYS BACK TO WINNING WAYS! Scots Grey got back to winning ways after last Sunday's first league defeat in two years but it was only just. A resilient Nottm Alumni have improved over the past few weeks and challenged the leaders all the way before succumbing to a second half effort from Juree Staples. Second placed Clifton Villa are determined to make the best of Scots' recent set back and goals from Justin Jenkins, Jermaine Hollis and Antwon Bonnick ensured they remained in the chase with a 3-1 success at fellow challengers; Trentside, for whom Rory Francis netted. Clumber climbed into fourth place and set themselves nicely for this weeks cup semi-final by coming from behind to defeat third placed Redhill 4-2. Two goals from Carl Westcarr and one each for Viv O'Connor and Steve Campbell were countered by strikes from Lee O'Dowd and Nathan Ryan for the hosts. Two goals each by Nathan Johnson and Vladamir Farrell were supplemented by efforts from Robert Burton and Kieron Coates as Arnold kept themselves in the hunt and also attuned for Wednesday's semi final by crushing Nottm WI Cavaliers who had Damien Pennant responding. In mid-week, Scots Grey comfortably reached the final of the Section KO Cup for the fifth consecutive year, beating close adversaries; Clifton Villa 4-1. This also atoned for the recent Notts FA Sunday Senior Trophy defeat to the same opponents. Dwayne Soar headed Scots ahead after just six minutes and this was added to twelve minutes later by a close range effort from makeshift striker; Juree Staples. Villa were struggling at this stage and went further behind within three minutes of the break to a sweet chip from Will Heath, although they were given a lifeline on the stroke of half-time via an Andy Frawley own goal. Villa came more into the game in the second period but Dave Ward wrapped up the game with three minutes remaining. There is still all to play for in Division One, where leaders Trowsers slipped to a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Stratford Haven, whilst third placed Rolls Royce won by the same score line. Mark Curry, Matt Greenhalgh and Paul McCaughley heaped the woe on Trowsers, who had Jodie Hughes and Duncan Dandy grabbing the consolations. Rolls were indepted to strikes from Nick Davis, Simon Martin and Andy Start as they were pushed all the way by Carlton Catholic, for whom Ian Farrow bagged a brace. George Street have a significant number of games in hand and kept themselves in the title race, with Dan Blake and Matt Lewis on the scoresheet in the odd goal in three win at FC Clobber, as Scott Wood responded. It is proving equally intriguing in Division Two, where anyone of half a dozen sides could win the championship. Leaders Cotgrave PFC amazingly were hammered 5-1 at second bottom; New Fairham who had Richard Talbot scoring twice, supplemented by efforts from Glen Kill, Matt Talbot and Paul Armstrong as Scott Jackson struck for the bemused visitors. This opened the door for Rolls Royce Leisure Villa who took advantage through Ashley Winfield, Damien Mann, Colin Woodward and Ross Cheeseman in a 4-0 win over barren Fat Cat. Vernon Villa and Sims Metal maintained their push but could only share the points in a 2-2 draw, with Dave Wilson and Liam Evans notching for Villa and Ashley Barrett registering a pair for the hosts. Crusader lost ground, as goals from Dan Douglas and James Crossman for Nottm Rangers wrested a 2-1 result, with Chris Kemp netting the consolation. NON-LEAGUE REPORTS Gainsborough Trinity 2 Hucknall Town 2 Hucknall Town picked up a point this afternoon after playing out a 2-2 draw at Gainsborough Trinity in the Blue Square North. The Yellows, who were without midfielder Laurie Wilson beginning a two match suspension, were also without leading goalscorer Danny Bacon who was surprisingly left out of the squad altogether. Bacon had been the subject of a bid from Alfreton Town, which the Club had accepted but Bacon after accepting the offer eventually declined saying he wanted to remain at Watnall Road. Manager, Bryan Chambers is convinced that the player has agreed a lucrative deal elsewhere for next season, something that the player denies, but Chambers has said he only wants players playing that want to be at the Club next season. Matt Baxter came in for the suspended Wilson and Tremaine Walters returned after injury and Joe Ward came in for Bacon. New signings Antwon Bonnick and Adrian Hawes had to be content with a place on the bench. It was the home side who took the lead on twenty minutes when the experienced striker Luke Beckett put Trinity in front but fourteen minutes later the Yellows drew level when Reuben Wiggins-Thomas equalised with his first goal for the club since returning for his second spell. Things got even better for the visitors, a minute into the second half, when Gary Ricketts put us the yellows in front but just four minutes later Beckett grabbed his second, and his side`s second of the game to level things up. Meikle scored the breakthrough goal in the 65th minute, with a strike worthy of a much larger stage. After Dunning has tested Whiteside, the ball was played out to Meikle who was wide right on the wing, he cut inside two defenders and curled an absolute beauty into the top corner of the net for his 10th goal of the season. The goal lifted the Badgers but the Laird refused to lie down and Mark Hume had to charged down Corrigan's dangerous shot. JOKEs OF THE WEEK! An 85-year-old man was requested by his doctor for a sperm count as part of his physical exam. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, 'Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow.' The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day. The doctor asked what happened and the man explained, 'Well, doc, it's like this--first I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing. 'Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand, then with her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, still nothing.
'We even called up Arleen, the lady next door and she tried too, first with both hands, then an armpit, and she even tried squeezin' it between her knees, but still nothing.' The doctor was shocked! 'You asked your neighbour?' The old man replied, 'Yep, none of us could get the jar open.’ A biker was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, 'Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.' The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.' The Lord said, 'Your request is materialistic, think of the enormous challenges for that kind
of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that would honour and glorify me.' The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, 'Lord, I wish that I could understand my wife. I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make a woman truly happy.' Des Dymock, using all his years of experience (and there are many) took the first leg against a lack-lustre Hobbo The Bear and despite Tosh's win in the next over fellow Calverton & Arnold Interleague star, Dave Wainwright and a classy 8-baller from Curtis Bradley, the general gulf in class between the Hucknall and Watnall superstars and the Lowdham minnows, was all too apparent and it's now back to the drawing board for the beleaguered Vol captain. Unrest in the Vol camp could intensify this week as they face runaway League leaders, Victory Club, with one of their so-called star players, Gary Blackshaw, languishing in the bottom five of the averages, only propped up by part-time players from The Eagle, needing to step up to the plate and show his captain he's worthy of a place in the team. Meanwhile at the Cherry Tree, the Guinness Book Of World Records official representative, nearly wet himself with excitement as The Eagle just about managed consecutive loss number fourteen to move within two of the world record. For long periods of the game it looked as though The Eagle would finally break their duck, with at least a draw, against an understrength Cherry Tree A but two losses for new star signing, Steve Hotchkiss, and a last leg reversal for the beautifully attired Daz Kitching keeps their hopes alive. In Division One's other game, Ex Service travelled to title fourth favourites, Victory Club and despite thrashing them in the singles legs, they were no match for them when it came to the pairs and Victory, for whom Matt Fell bottled out of a simple black for a second successive 8-baller and Janet Street-Porter at last got a singles game, remained top with a close fought win. In Division Two, veteran, Keith Simm, continued his erratic form with yet another defeat, this time to bottom of the averages favourite, Andy “Behind The Bar” Hayes. Incredibly, this set the tone for the night and the rest of his new team were given a harsh pool lesson by the resurgent Cherry Tree B and in the end they were pleased that the Calverton outfit ran out of players to actually gain a consolation in the final frame. Calverton Miners Welfare travelled to the short distance to The Longbow and managed to achieve their first win of the season after veteran, Ken Widdowson, bowing to the pressure of his daughter, limited himself to only a pairs game. The tactic worked and they edged a close game with star performer, Robin Rutt, rolling back the years to claim the Man Of The Match award. Elsewhere, Major Oak moved top with a thrashing of big Sam's Carlton Liberal Club, where County Junior captain, Demi Barber, made her long awaited singles debut, however she has obviously been having lessons from her dad and it ended in defeat. Ex county B player, Matt Coates, was dropped for the game and so still stands a lowly 21st in the Division 2 Averages.
Premier 1 Newly crowned champions Spot On One versus third placed Park Tavern A turned out to be a flat affair with a potential runner up spot for the Tavern as the only incentive for what could have been a title decider. A predictable 6-6 draw ensued and the Masters, on their bye week, now look good for the runner up spot unless the unpredictable Royal Oak can do the Tavern a favour and come away with something in next week's final fixture. Premier 2 The match of the season was the local Arnold derby between Greyhound and Friar Tuck. Everything was hanging on this clash of the top two and the Tuck had the early advantage with N.Gray's first leg win. S.Colledge and M.Bent brought Greyhound out of their traps before P.Iremonger and N.Gray paired off well in the doubles for Tuck, 2-2. Greyhound took the next two through M.Bent and Simon Wilson, but the Tuck replied with the leg 7 doubles pair F.Mulhern and M.Rawson. S.Harvey (Greyhound) and M.Rawson (Tuck) brought the match all square, before Ant Wilson and I.Day made it 5-4 to Greyhound in the doubles. On the final bend a burst of wins by I.Day, D.Wynn and I.Monkhouse took the Greyhound over the line and there was to be no photo finish until presentation night. Park Tav Langham's failure to beat Sun Valley at home secures 2nd place for the Tuck as a consolation and guarantees their promotion to Prem 1 for the Summer. Premier 3 Grey Nightmares late withdrawal from their match with Carlton Catholic Club meant a walkover for the Carlton side and an automatic 9-3 win. Hubble Bar did it the hard way however with the same 9-3 scoreline away to a spirited performance by Sun Valley Ladies. INTER-LEAGUE – Lee Thorpe's Notts & District super-league team secured their place in the National inter-league KO Cup championship for the second year running after beating Chesterfield over two matches in the 10-8 & 14-4 with Matt Coates (New Station), Martyn Rawson (March Hare) & Curtis Bradley (Ponda) all winning four out of four. Then overcoming Ollerton & District 11-7 to finish in top place of the Nottinghamshire inter-league KO qualifiers with Matt Tugby (Ponda), Matt Coates (New Station Road), Dale Mayes & Marcus Langford (Both Marquis) all taking two out of two against Ollerton. WORLD RULES SINGLES FINAL DAY – Former England U21 international Chris Rigby (Masters) become the new winner of the Nottingham & District Pool League world rules singles championship after beating county player Matt Coates (New Station Road) 3-1 in the semis plus getting his second eightballer of the season, he then faced team-mate & Dad Bill Rigby in the first father & son final in the league which Chris came out on top 4-3 to take the title for the second time. WORLD RULES LEAGUE CUP FINAL – Holders Masters took the world rules league cup for the second season running after beating premiership-rivals Ponda in the final, Bill Rigby (Masters) took the first leg, Rob Duckett (Ponda) levelled the match in the second frame for the Ponda, but the Masters went on to win the next 4 frames through the duo of Pat Kelley & Bill Rigby (Masters) in the third leg, Neil Kelley (Masters) won the fourth, Chris Rigby (Masters) sealed the fifth, but it was John Harvey (Masters) who secured the tie in the sixth leg for a cracking 5-1 victory. MONDAY PREMIERSHIP DIVISION – Premiership leaders Marquis of Lorne cruised to a 7-2 home win over relegated Commics, the pairing of Tim Chambers & Big Bob Morley (Marquis) confirmed the points. Second place Ponda had a brilliant 7-2 away win at fourth place Colonel Burnaby, the duo of Captain Pete Sims & Matt Tugby (Ponda) took the matchwinning frame. Relegated bottom-makers Carlton & District Constitutional Club lost their top-flight survival with a 6-3 defeat at the Beechdale, while the Basford Hall Miners Welfare come from 3-0 down to beat the Test Match 5-4 at home through Captain Gary Newton (Basford) in the last leg decider. Division A sees the battle for the title really hotting up as the top slot changes hands yet again as surprisingly both the Commics and the Victory Club A took losses. Victory Club B's victory over Commics ensured a swift shift to top slot but the Commics retain the advantage having a game in hand and a better leg difference than their two closest rivals. With two matches left (3 for Commics) all three squads will be giving it their better cue control as they vie for legs as well as points. The results on division B await the outcome of the match between Hillside and Queens A. Although Jag sit pretty in the winners slot the forthcoming match could well decide who wins and who becomes runner up. All the big cat can do is sit on the sidelines and support Queens A to win as that will guarantee them the title. Congratulations to Inham Nook whose brilliant 6-1 victory over Birchover B confirmed the title slot against Pelican A who, despite a 4-3 win, take the runners up title by virtue of leg difference between the two teams, well done all.

NOTTINGHAM & NOTTS INSTITUTES ASSOCIATION SNOOKER - TOP SPOT UP TO SECOND AFTER 5-0 WIN! DIVISION 1 Spot On Hucknall faced Carlton LC and the home side ran out 32 winners. P Ashurst took the first frame with an 86-41 win over Danny Di Folco. Bob Walker then levelled the match for Carlton with a 33-65 win over Tim Hudson. Frame three saw Carlton take the lead with Andy Ball beating Adam Goodall by 50-60, but Spot On claimed the win on points with Daryll Clark beating Bob Wright 66-38. In the other match Sherwood SC 'D' were whitewashed 0-5 at home to Top Spot. The win moves Top Spot into second place. KO Plate The delayed semi-final of the Knockout Plate competition pitted BCI 'B' away at Spot On Hucknall. BCI received a 14 points start on the handicap and they got off to the perfect start with Neil Elliott in fine form, beating Gee by 70 points. Elliott knocked in a fine 40 break to win by 22-92. Toby Irons then kept BCI in front with a 36-66 win over Graham Turnbull and Mick salmon furthered BCI's lead with a close 49-60 win over John. Adam Goodall pulled some points back for Spot On with a 58-31 over Ian Dawson but BCI ran out comfortable winners 165-270. NAZARETH HOUSE SNOOKER LEAGUE - BEESTON SNOOKER HALL MAKE IT TO THE FINAL! DIVISION 1 Any outside hopes Pegasus Snooker Club still held of winning this years league championship were dashed by local rivals Arnold Civil Defence 'A' who inflicted a narrow 5-3 defeat on Mike Langdon's team. At Pegasus, Arnold's John Fountain ran Chris Brooks close but a fluked yellow signalled the end of his resistance. Chris Winter levelled for Arnold by beating Jamie Mathers for the second time this season before Gary Spencer knocked in a 40 break against Steve Booth to put Arnold in front. The reliable pairing of Brooks & Mathers then ensured the leg would finish all square with victory over Chris Winter & James Notman. Sadly the Pegasus away leg never really got going at Arnold as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat. Pegasus's only win of the night was slightly fortuitous as Danny Castel-Nuovo left himself a simple pink after trebling the blue! Castel-Nuovo was some thirty points behind with only one red remaining against

Richard Tooley but a double foul swung things round for the Pegasus man who has now won his opening two frames for the club. Pegasus's Eric Towle ran Malc Belshaw close in a scrappy encounter and found himself leading by six points going into the colours. The experienced Belshaw kept it tight and secured victory with a flurry of good pots to make the overall score 3-3. Perhaps one of the reasons Arnold Civil Defence have been so successful over the years is the fact that they always have something in reserve. On this occasion it came in the form of one of Arnold's un-sung heroes, Brian Kinton. Firstly he dispatched Pegasus skipper Mike Langdon in a very low scoring frame clearing from yellow to blue before seeing Arnold home in the pairs. Belshaw had put Arnold in a commanding position with a well taken 29 break before Kinton wrapped up the frame and match with a terrific 27 break leaving only the black on the table. Stadium Leisure secured an important 6-2 win against strugglers Arnold Civil Defence "B". At Arnold, Sean Kelly played really well to beat Steve Butler on the pink. Danny Di Folco then had a good win against Kirk Wesselby and Bob Walker managed to beat John Kelly. In the pairs, Di Folco and Walker beat Sean Kelly and Wesselby for a 3-1 leg win. At Stadium, Matt Ellis beat Andy Nichols 79-50 and Pete Gormley beat Alan Cunningham 74-63, but Ross Wilkin lost to Stan Candler 39-77. Ellis and Gormley then beat Cunningham and Candler 59-32 for the 3-1 home leg victory. DIVISION 2 Oakleigh Lodge Social Club virtually ensured their play-off semi-final place with a deserved 5-3 win against Lenton Liberal Club. The Lenton club have now lost their last five league matches, having won the previous five. At Lenton, Matt Savage beat Daniel Robinson but Steve Dixon lost to Adam Robinson and Laurence Richards lost to Ryan Cooper. NOTTINGHAM CENTRAL DARTS -PRIDE OF ERIN TAKE TITLE ! LADIES: Pride of Erin Ladies take the championship of the Ladies league despite having two matches to play they reach an untenable position after a brilliant, but very close, 4-3 win over close rivals Cambridge. Prides victory could well be at the expense of Cambridge's crack at the runners up slot as Strelley
valiantly defend their position taking out Beacon in yet another close match of 4-3. Very close behind is CBI who snap close at heel after their 4-3 victory over Madhouse. Division B is tucked up in a two horse race between leaders Park Tavern and the Nuthall and all could be revealed in a dramatic face off in a weeks time. MIXED: Congrats to Cambridge who take the championship winning division A and to runners up Madhouse who, incredibly, took a 6-1 victory over closest rivals Nuthall B to draw level on points and legs. Ironically it was that same 6-1 victory which earnt them the runners up slot by pure virtue of a leg difference of 8 over matches played against each other. It was the leg difference decider that made it the closest result in many a season as both teams had actually won on home soil. Commiserations but very well played and contested by Nuthall B. In literally a two horse race between Querneby and The Shed its looking all in favour of the Shed taking the title and Querneby the runners up as Shed only have to win one of the last two leaving Querneby the tall order of both. MEN'S: Queens cling on to that championship slot with just 3 matches to play. One drop could well leave them in the path of Beechdale who, with only 2 matches left, are just two points behind. Park Tavern are close at hand and also have a game in hand over Beechdale. Division B has White Lion in a strong position with only having to win one of their next two matches. Birchover and Madhouse continue to battle it out for runners up with Birchover just pipping into runners up at the moment on leg difference, again both teams need to win their last two to attain runners up with Madhouse having to increase that leg difference.
