Uploading your Real Estate Pages or Guide to BClocalhomes.com Step One Make sure that your guide/pages are all in one PDF document. If a collection of misc. Realtor ads from your paper create one PDF. - You can use Acrobat Professional. Under File select Combine Files and follow the step by step instructions - set to Smallest.

Step Two Open your document in Acrobat Professional and do two things: Under Advanced - Under Document Processing - create Links from URLs - please note this will not process website addresses that are part of their logo (picture) or if the logo has spaces in between characters or is in any way an invalid web address. Under Advanced - Select PDF Optimizer - see below to set up custom settings for the web.

Step Three Save the file with a webfriendly name that will make it easy for Google to find. (e.g., Quesnel-real-estate-sept29.pdf, creston-homessept25.pdf, alberni_valley_homes-for-sale.pdf). If you call it: TST-RE-20100923.pdf - you’ve taken away from Google tools that it uses to find your publication. Review your file - optimally it should be under 20MB - best if under 10MB and there should only be letters and numbers - no characters in the file name.

Step Four Launch your webbrowser and go to: http://issuu.com/ . Click Login upper right hand corner: U: ads4web@bclocalhomes.com P: 20BPDigital!10

Step Five Click on Upload Document (right hand side in the blue bar)


Step Six Upload Document

Browse for your document. This will autofill in the webname

Type in the name of your guide and a date. Type in a description and keywords and the website - or copy & paste the above from the attached text file

Select Newspaper

Choose: Hobby & Home English North America

Decide if you want Comments or for your guide to be rated. If not select no for these options.

Once you’re all done select Upload File.

Step Seven Let it process, then it will convert and finally it will show up in Published. Drag and drop it into your regional folder on the left side. Check www.bclocalhomes.com to make sure that all went well. And you’re done.


Troubleshooting Guide won’t upload properly Check the name of the file you loaded - does it have a #, $, %, ^, &, ‘, ():;”!, in the name? If so remove the non-alpha, non-numeric character. Have you optimized the PDF file? An unflattened image will cause the guide to stop the whole upload or simply freeze the upload on that page What size is your PDF file you’re loading? Try to keep it under 20MB for reader usability and know that it won’t load if your guide is over 99MB.

Last minute change to a realtor ad that didn’t make the print edition you loaded Go to Issuu, login, click on MyLibrary (right beside the login area). Find your guide, put a check in the box beside it and click Delete - then reupload as per normal - the file name will need to be slightly different. Can’t find your guide easily? click on your region folder on the left and then select your guide and Delete
