It may be above your reach, and higher than you would use on a day-to-day basis, but it provides extra storage for those items that you don’t use often, like seasonal or special occasion items for entertaining. It also draws the eye up, and makes your room feel larger. This is also an opportunity to add a couple of design features to your space by inserting glass in a few doors, or going with a contrasting colour to the base cabinetry. Add a splash with a new backsplash: A tile backsplash can be a great place to add personality and pizazz to the room. Try using tiles with a punch of colour or interesting shapes to add polish to the space. A room looks more finished and highend when the backsplash is tiled. (It is also easier to clean!) Switch out the counter top: Counter top is one of the biggest selling features in a kitchen or bathroom. Buyers are looking for stone these days. There are many products on the market in various price points to accomplish this. Go for something neutral in colour, as it can be a larger ticket item to replace.
Inventory levels are lower than the previous year, with 2,562 active listings for sale on the Victoria Real Estate Board Multiple Listing Service® at the end of February, 26.4 per cent fewer than the 3,480 active listings at the end of February 2015. We continue to see the effect of supply and demand on the market. Areas near the downtown core have limited inventory, with less new product coming on to the market. As a result we see more pressure on pricing there, and we see multiple offers. The West Shore and outlying areas “A total of 772 properties have new housing sold in the Victoria Real developments Estate Board region this coming into February, an increase of the market. Facelift for your Kitchen After watching a plethora of interior design shows on the various lifestyle channels, we all know that the biggest return on investment for your home renovation is in the kitchen and bathroom. The industry is buzzing with activity as home owners are caught in the flourishing real estate market. After speaking with your realtor for advice, you may discover that now is the time to undergo a major renovation. However, if this isn’t the case, and a large renovation isn’t currently in the cards, there are still many small things that you can do to your kitchen and bath to give it a facelift. Change the Hardware: Replacing the knobs/handles on your cabinetry, towel bars, TP holders in a more contemporary finish can be a simple update that won’t break the bank. Try going with a different finish, or style than you currently have. Create Functional Storage: Adding roll out shelves and trays to your existing cabinetry can make reaching the back items and organizing cans and boxes of food a breeze.
