Creating your masterpiece
A
rtwork is a personal thing. Depending on taste, style and décor it is one of the most difficult commitments for my clients. There are many prints and
inexpensive pieces available to tie a room together and help create the look and design that you are trying to achieve. Many pieces are reproduced on canvas, or behind glass with a unique frame. You can pick these pieces up from both local boutique stores, and the larger “big box” stores. The advantage to choosing inexpensive art pieces is that you can change them out as your tastes or trends change without feeling guilty or breaking
the bank. However, nothing can beat owning an original and timeless work of art. Often we will design the décor around the artwork, pulling colours from the piece. Situate lighting to best highlight the art. Original art is available in a wide range of pricing, and from many different sources. I recently visited a manufacturer specializing in taking a sketch from paper and using a CNC machine, creates a 3D piece in the material and colours of your choice. Artwork carved in solid wood creates a stunning result. On the other end of the cost spectrum, a couple of my girlfriends took a local art class with me, where we were guided through a suggested piece, and everyone ended up with their own original rendition to hang on their wall. Not only was it fun, it was also a great way to create something of your very own, with just a little guidance. The Victoria Art Gallery is a great place to visit if you are looking for more info on local artists. They can assist you making a purchase of your own.
