Newsletter December, 2011 From SMI's desk William Henry says and I quote “Let's learn to live with content; seek elegance rather than luxury; refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, listen to others with open heart; to bear all cheerfully and to do all bravely.” We are closing our fulfilling first term enriched with curricular and co-curricular activities, which had a significant impact on the learning and personal development of the children. I feel pride in sharing with you that The Beaconhouse Times Online has been launched on November 4th marking the 36th Anniversary of Beaconhouse School System. It is a portal that connects our students, parents and teachers from all over the country to share achievements, news and information. All our events have been uploaded on TBT and can be viewed on the website www.tbt.beaconhouse.net. Our children are growing in times where English has become an essential medium. This year a special focus on developing appropriate language skills is adopted. The children who are found conversing in English all the time will be awarded a badge. I believe that with your support and positive suggestions, our goals and aspirations will thrive further. On behalf of all my team members, I wish you all the very best for the next year. I hope that all our unvoiced and unanswered prayers materialize and each of us pledges to do whatever we can to make this world a better place for our children.
“An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don't.” Anatole France
The New Year has embarked on its orbital journey and we pray and wish that it would be safer and more serene than the previous one. By the grace of Allah Almighty we have completed our first term. Throughout the term, keeping up with the tradition, we not only aimed to provide a versatile education to our children but also emphasized upon the importance of wider social and cultural development through extra curricular activities. These evenly spread and carefully selected activities are always a great contributory factor in developing well rounded personalities of our students. We always take pleasure in sharing these activities with you as we believe that a parent is the first natural teacher who creates and nurtures the child's most important environment. We also take this opportunity to remind you of a few important things. · Get involved in your child's school routine, ask questions and answer queries. · Let him/her explore and learn by helping you with your daily chores. · Expect good behaviour from your child and insist upon it. · Inculcate healthy eating habits in your child. · Discuss safety rules with your child and ensure that they are followed. “The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.” Robert Maynard Hutchins
