Beaconhouse School System Senior Girls Branch Satellite Town, Rawalpindi “Treat the earth well, For its safety is yours.” Paul Rachel (1977) Dear Parents It is a pleasure for me to be in contact with you again through this Newsletter which highlights the major events and activities of the branch for the on going session. Class VIII has been bifurcated into Matric and Cambridge streams. Class VIII-M will start the Matric syllabus and Class VIII-C shall continue the class VIII syllabus. Lots of factors contribute to successful learning. Learning takes place under favorable environment, no doubt, but it also accelerates when shared. Sharing experiences, techniques and strategies enhances the learning outcomes as they say “Sharing is learning.” Our focus is to train our youth and prepare them for future challenges. Let us join hands and guide our youth through these hard times so that they emerge as good human beings who are also patriots___ leaders, scientists, teachers, businessmen and so on___ whatever they choose to be. Welcome! Class VI students were warmly welcomed by the Head and all the faculty members on the first day of the new session i.e. 5-9-11. Students introduced themselves in the assembly and given the tokens of love to help them overcome their cultural shock . Students felt confident and privileged to be the part of BSTR-G.

Musical Evening: BSTR-G organised a fun filled musical evening for students and teachers. All the classes presented their dances and songs in accordance to the theme ‘Traditional ’; it was also clearly depicted through colourful traditional dresses. All the students felt refresh and relax to float with the waves of rhythm followed by the sumptuous dinner.

Business Activity X-C: Stalls of sumptuous food were arranged by the students of X-C to get the first hand knowledge of their theory work. The objective of this activity was to give students a practice of selling and buying. Eid Gala 2011: Floral and shimmered clothes with henna and Bangles; Eid gala presented a lively celebration of our traditional event. Students of all classes enjoyed their class wise presentations and competitions followed by the lucky draw. Energy Conservation Week: The school celebrated a whole week of saving energy to inculcate the importance of limited resources. Small competitions were also practiced. It helped students to underdstand the worth of our resources.

Art competitions: students of different classes participated in an Art competition organized by the traffic police on the theme of ‘Road Safety’. Maria Hassan of class VIII-B won the 3rd prize in poster making competition. Students of all classes participated in Child Right Art Competition. It was an encouraging activity for the students as they represented the branch.

Global Dignity Day: the whole school celebrated the Global Dignity Day to support and hold the hands of dignity in our daily lives. Students made head garlands with quotations of dignity and messages. A small video was also shown to them to make them understand the worth of dignity. Elections 2011-2012: The election campaign lasted for a week. The candidates in their speeches tried their level best to motivate the students to cast votes in their favour. Many promises were made, suggestions were given and future strategies were formulated.Mahnoor Tariq and Naima Arshad were declared the winners. It was awesome to witness the jubiliation on the faces of the winners and their supporters whereas mixed sentiments were exhibited by the opponents, who though accepted the results whole heartedly and branded the elections as fair which in itself is a success on part of the Headmistress Mrs Shamim Qazi and the school administration.

Halloween Day: Students of class VI A-B celebrated Halloween Day with a new spirit of positivity and message of Tolerance. They wore the scary costumes, made slogans of tolerance and presented it to all the classes. It helped them to understand the importance of tolerance in their everyday lives.

Ecology Seminar: students of X-C organized the ecology seminar and made presentations on food web and eco system. It helped the students to enhance their IT skills.

Hip Hip Hurray!!! The whole school celebrated the Birth anniversary of Beaconhouse School System. Students made cards and placed on the wall as a good will jesture. Students felt proud to be the part of BSS. The Headmistress gave a short speech for encouraging the students and faculty members.

ICT Workshop: To avail the potential of faculty members , BSS arranges the on going training program for the teachers. They were given training on MS Office, Excel and Power point. The training was helpful in making assignments and compiling results.

Parliamentary Debates: Students of X-XI-C have arranged the Parliamentary style debates under the topics of “Planning makes a man successful’. It encouraged the students to share their views and take criticism from the opponents. The speakers presented a crisp debate, convincing many among audience to support the proposition team.

Cleanness is half the faith. Kindly ensure that your child comes in a neat and tidy uniform, hair nicely done free of lice. The child must bring a small towel with her. Formal and tidy appearance of the student is compulsory. The sanitation conditions of your child directly affect the health of the child.

The aid was not only financial compensation but also clothes, sweaters and colorful bangles for the children. Students visited Chambeli Institute for mentally handicapped children, old age home and Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi. The whole school participated with great enthusiasm and a vibe of realization was felt in the air. Students generously donated and were privileged to be a part of such activity. Teachers assisted the pupils and encouraged the corresponding event.
