From the Head’s Desk Dear Parents, The year 2012 has been a very good year for the school. The school premises is now exclusively housing Beaconhouse Satellite Town Primary Branch with Classes 1-V.
With your blessings and continued support, we plan on making 2013 an even more eventful year with an even better environment for our beloved students. With warm regards, Saima Faheem
We have improved the school and teaching environment with the addition of technology through our ETAC program – Emerging Technologies Across the Curriculum. Our students are now benefitting from especially equipped IT labs and are gaining practical hands on experience while learning concepts across different subjects with the help of using the latest IT resources. BSTR-P students have brought accolades to the school by winning different competitions. We are also happy to have involved parents in the cooking and sports activities that have taken place at school. This is in addition to our regular Parents Teacher Meetings . This year we focused on arranging a wide range of extra and co-curricular activities in school to give our students an enriched learning experience.

Global Dignity Day
“Dignity does not consist in possessing honour, but in deserving them.” Aristotle
“Dignity First”, was planned and celebrated in BSTR-P on October 17, 2012. Much had been done in this regard since 17th September 2012 as our branch was selected for an online project for Grade 4 Red. The rest of the students at school observed that grade 4 Red students were helping the gardener and the junior staff at different times of the day. They also saw that some interviews were being carried out regarding the staff’s work and their feelings about what made them proud in their life. Grade 4 Red students also talked to their fellow students about what “dignity” actually means and how we should respect and share the load of people around us. In addition, students also wrote stories of the people they interviewed and shared them with their on line partners at BSS Philippines via Skype. This project was carried out by staff members Mrs. Afshan Zahid supported by Naveed-e-Zehra the IT teacher and technical support was given by Bilal Bakshi.
On 17th October a special assembly was conducted to re-visit “Dignity First’ week. It was show time for all the class levels to display and present what had been done in the past week. The HM of BSTR-P Mrs. Saima Faheem highlighted the importance of the day and praised the efforts of all the students and teachers who made this day a success. A special tribute was paid to the junior staff. A student from Grade 5 presented an introduction to the Global Dignity Day. Class 1 presented a role play in which a student acted as an old lady who worked in different houses to earn her livelihood and how she raised her only son. This act received thunderous applause from everyone. Class 2 presented a role play about people from different professions and what makes their profession and their life dignified. The purpose was to create the awareness that everyone is playing an important part around us and in our lives. Grade 3 students and teachers presented a role play in which they depicted a poem written on the theme of Dignity. Real life dignity stories from Grade 4 were presented at the end. Two students from grade 5 wrapped up the assembly with a speech and a poem. Displays from each class level were also exhibited at in different corners of the school.

Football Challenge 2012-13 Our school arranged a fun football match for our students’ fathers. Keeping in mind the tiring lifestyles of the world today, we decided to do something for our cherished parent body. This was the second such event that was held. It was highly appreciated by the fathers and they requested that such events should be held more often as this provides them with the opportunity to socialize with each other, which seems impossible otherwise. The day was carefully planned, the fathers were invited and briefed about rules a few days earlier. The day started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Ihsan Saleem of Class IV Blue and English translation by Hassan Naizi of Class V-Red. This was followed by the National Anthem. After this, fathers were divided into four teams and two matches of 20 mins each were played. Team A played with Team B and Team C played with Team D. In the first Match Team A won the match with the score of 2 goals against 1.Whereas in the second match Team D won with the score of 3 goals against 2. Then the final match was played between Teams A and D. It was won by Team D again with the score of 3 goals against 2. This match was worth watching as the enthusiasm and energy was at its peak, apart from this the spectators that were the students of Class 1 and 2 were beaming with joy as they cheered the participants. This was followed by the prize distribution, the winning team was awarded certificates and trophies and the runners up were given certificates. The event ended with a vote of thanks from the Headmistress Mrs. Saima Faheem.
Prevention is Better than Cure
Fun Time in Prince Chocolate Castle
Students of Class V studied various diseases and they prepared a project on ‘Prevention of Diseases’. Their project was to design posters to create awareness amongst the students on how to prevent diseases.
The makers of Prince Chocolate sponsored and organized a fun filled event for the students at school. The children enjoyed the interesting activities and the refreshments.
The Science teachers helped the students to work in groups and to conduct research on the internet. The students then made their posters and displayed them in the Class V block at school. This group activity was also important as it promoted coordination and cooperation among the groups and love for research work. The end product was amazing as students had highlighted their ideas for a healthy life in each poster.
