Newsletter 17 – G, MTL September – October Edition 1st Issue

Little Red Riding Hood! Learning and fun go hand in hand for young children. This is specially kept in consideration in the curriculum. In this respect students of Nursery Pink held a role play on little Red Riding Hood in class. The tiny tots looked extremely cute dressed up as the little red riding hood and other characters. Acting out and watching one of their favourite fairy tale characters made them all very happy and excited.

I joined 17‐G in July 2012. Coincidentally, I started my teaching career from the same branch as well and it happens to be a well acknowledged as an established branch with extremely experienced staff and faculty. However, it is a fact that there is always room for further improvement; therefore, the first step to develop a congenial work environment was to adopt a more communicative approach with parents. We want to establish a rapport that ensures increased parent participation and a zealous effort on part of the administration to address any problems encountered by them. I hope with support and cooperation from all of you, it will be possible for me to be successful in my continued efforts to bring in positive changes for the betterment of this branch. God bless you all. Best Regards, Tayyaba Imran

Orientation Day The school reopened with all preparations after a long and a relaxing summer break. This was to welcome the students in their new classes. As for the new admissions extra measures were taken to familiarise the parents with the system. In this regard orientation day were held on 04.09.2012 and 06.9.2012 for Nursery and Pre‐Nursery respectively. This included introduction to our curriculum, which basically revolves around “Learning through Play”. There are different areas in the class such as reading, writing, language, exploration, art, math, imaginative play, gather together, home and dressing up areas and parents were informed about the importance of these areas.

Dengue Awareness As the rainy season started so did the danger of the spread of ‘Dengue’. To make the children aware of its consequences, the Urdu teachers prepared a joint assembly of class II’s on Friday 28th September’12.Students prepared a role play and acted out their roles very confidently. The whole school thoroughly enjoyed the concept and dialogues delivered by the children. Their confident act ended with a song which summed up the whole idea of the expansion of mosquitoes and their effects. ;

Go Green!!!!

Teachers Day

‘Go Green “is the target for our branch this year. Every class plans and works out according to their level to craft awareness among the students in order to help create a green and an eco friendly environment.

Teacher’s Day…one of the most important days among all was acknowledged at 17‐G MTL by the headmistress and the School coordinator in the assembly. The efforts of the teachers were appreciated in front of the students. Some students from class two spoke for their teachers and thanked them for their hard work. Students made cards for their teachers in classes and presented them as a note of thanks and appreciation. The day ended with a surprise tea for the teachers by the headmistress, Mrs Tayyaba Imran where she shared some quotations for the teacher’s along with a “Thank you” card.

Class I’s prepared an assembly on it and conducted on Friday 5th, October, 12.Students from all four sections presented a role‐play, which was very well executed. Their message reached the whole school which was to make this world… ‘Our Earth clean and Green……’

Dignity comes first…. Teaching such a vast term like ‘Dignity’ to the preschoolers is not something easy but as the day approached on 17th October and teachers from each level carried out the activities they had planned, it began to open the horizons of everyone’s minds. The day began with a short assembly where the term’ Dignity’ was explained that everyone has the right to live a dignified life where respect and care go hand in hand for each and every living being on earth. Students participated in age appropriate activities and took souvenirs back with them.

Polio Drive A team from the Model Town Municipal Committee visited the school on Monday 17th September’12 to vaccinate the children under five years of age.

17‐G, MTL

Students from Pre‐Nursery and Nursery were given polio drops and marked for having it done.

Heal the world with peace… Peace is what the world needs today and for that special days are celebrated worldwide. It was celebrated in our branch too. The art teacher made doves with the students, who wrote messages on them and displayed at the entrance for parents’ comments. All the four sections of class II prepared an assembly. Children addressed the issue of violence and intolerance and how to resolve it through a little patience and care. After the presentation “Doves” a symbol of ‘Peace” hung with balloons were flown away by each class representative, creating a beautiful scenario in the air.

Class Two prepared a role play about cleanliness specifically washing hands. They were dressed up as germs and commander Mortein. Their act very vividly explained how and why to keep our hands clean. It ended with a teacher’s demonstration on how to wash their hands correctly.

New Advancements. An initiative for the refurbishment of the school library and acquisition of a new LCD for our students is taken so they may have access to educational videos and documentaries. Also the addition of new books and furniture will revive our students' eagerness to visit the library and get well acquainted with the wonderful collection of new books.
