The School that started with the usual hustle bustle, was brought to a sudden halt due to the Dengue outbreak. The Government announced 10 days off and this loss was compensated for by working Saturdays in October .

Welcome to the new administration: Mrs. Firdaus Almakky with her rich experience has joined the Model Town chapter as the Principal .Mrs Arifa Hassan and Miss Sabahat Javaid are the new Senior Mistresses for our campus. We welcome them to our school and hope that their presence will help us flourish further.

Students Elections

Note from the Principal’s desk We are well into the first term of this academic year. I just realized that it is three months since I joined here. Days and weeks have flown by! There was so much to do, and thankfully a lot of what was planned IS done. The branch is streamlined, and all systems seem to be in place now. The automated process only begins when there are no gaps, and everybody does their assigned job.

Now the branch work rolls on.

I look forward to your constructive criticism and continued cooperation.

Good to Know The school Library has been renovated and is conveniently situated on the first floor, within easy reach of most classes. The sunny and airy/ well illuminated and ventilated room provides a favorable reading environment .The Gold Star Readers program is doing wonders and the enthusiastic young readers are competing neck to neck for being the highest scorers.

News & Events The Intra Regional Table tennis tournament: On the 5th of October, our school hosted a table tennis tournament at The Wapda Sports Complex. Sixteen teams from the Centre participated , each team comprising three players who put their best efforts and played their hearts out. The first Parent-teacher meeting On Saturday, 22nd October 2011 teachers and parents together tried to figure out the best possible ways to deal with the issues that teenagers come across today. We were enlightened with the valued suggestions from the parents and the individual progress of each student was discussed.

World Space Week 4th till 10th October 2011: SUPARCO hosted the celebrations regarding the World Space Week and organized a number of contests like essay writing, model making, poster making, declamation contest and a quiz competition - all to identify the future astronauts in our nation.

Our team , Waleed Anwar and Mohammad Noman made us proud and took the first position in the quiz and were unbeatable.

Schools from all over Lahore participated .It was a wonderful experience for the students, keeping in view the curiosity evoked by infinity and beyond, in the space .

Hand writing competition at Ali Institute

Dengue Awareness Campaign: SGO 1 had arranged with the principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College for a talk on dengue. One teacher from all the Model Town branches along with the senior students from 45-1-A-1and 78 A-1 went for this.

Mrs.Naveen Shahid, Mrs. Firdaus Almakky and other teachers from SGO1 also attended the program. Our boys, Saad Arif Butt,Usman Amjad, Umair Faisal, Abdul Raheem, Farhan Afzal along with the Biology teacher, later organized a presentation for the school students at the campus and enlightened us with the preventive measures that we should take to avoid this deadly mosquito.

Beacon House BMTL October– November 2011 Elections….. leaders in the making The school provides the opportunities to the youngsters to develop leadership qualities. Use of persuasive techniques, building self confidence, grooming personality and bearing the burden of responsibilities. all gained by being a part of the student council.

Election campaign The plain walls of the assembly area were brought to life by the array of posters.

The energetic, action packed campaigning sessions was a spin through the democratic process, the students gained an insight about the real world through this exercise.

The oath taking ceremony was held on 27 of

October. The new council members pledged their oath to the school and students and with the blessings of Allah the council members are ready to fulfill their duties with great diligence.

The Beaconhouse School system has completed its thirty sixth year with the grace of God. We wish to continue with the same zeal.

So Now you Know….

To encourage the good and regular workers of the junior staff, the school started the ‘Employee of the month’ program. Every month the best worker will get a cash award and in appreciation his photograph will be displayed on the notice-board. This month the proud winner is Willson Sadiq.

The Spelling Bee: 7th and 8th October , 2011 Waleed Anwar 8C, Shaharyar Sajid 10CA ,Uzair Anwar 10CA and Azaz Arif 8B participated in the thrilling and exciting competition of the Spelling Bee.This learning opportunity enabled them to improve their spellings and boost their confidence.
