Global Dignity Day “Global Dignity Day” was celebrated at BCLR. Numerous activities w ere carried out throughout the day to emphasize the importance of self esteem and valuing all the human beings in the society. The students enthusiastically participated in all theses activities which helped to raise awareness about the importance and value of different people who contribute to-

wards the social fabric of the society.

The day started with an assembly presentation by class VI and VII, Later on, students made cards, posters, wrote poems, made flyers on publisher and helped the junior staff to appreciate their efforts. Students from Class IV and V also held a discussion forum using PowerPoint presentation about the dignity of work.

Period Study BCLR organized a Grand Event for Grand parents. Class IV’s students invited their honorable grandparents on 12th December 2012.There was a stimulating interactive session in which students interviewed the grand parents about the past and their unforgettable experiences.

Orientation Session An Orientation Session for the academic year 2012-13 was held at BCLR. The purpose was to introduce the teaching methodologies applied at BSS and the curriculum for the academic year (September 2012-June 2013), to the parents of the new-comers. All the subject specialists talked about their respective areas. Technologies and ICT resources to be incorporated with the theoretical lessons were discussed in detail. The orientation was followed by a question answer session.

KG- Chef Day KG Branch celebrated “Chef Day” with great deal of enthusiasm. 100% participation of all the children from PreNursery to KG was the main highlight of the day. Pre-Nursery students made breakfast for their grandparents who were invited for their grand child’s live performances as chefs. The school was bustling with energy and Grandparents were delighted to see their grand kids. making & serving breakfast to them.

KG– Winter Day Winter Day was celebrated in BCLR on 19th Dec,12. Students came in coloured clothes.

The School was decorated with snow covered trees and snow men. Students were excited to see the winter decorations. They brought different winter souviniers from home e.g. dry fruits, winter fruits, snow covered plants, snow men and poems on winters. Students of Pre-Nsy gave presentation on winters and Nsy and KG students sang songs. All three levels carried out the activity of making a snow man. Every one really enjoyed the Winter Day.

KG- Annual Sports Day This year also, BCLR Kin- -ies like yoga, aerobics, dergarten Annual sports tug of war etc. Another day was organized on 6th highlight of the day Dec,12. KG- Color Day We want to make our children happy. Their Primary colour days (red, yellow, and blue) were celebrated on 19th, 20th and 23rd respectively.

Children enjoyed different activities and went home with souvenirs like bands.

KG– First Day of School After the long summer break once again the children enjoyed the first day of school on the 3rd September with excitement. They were happy to see jumping castle and puppet show. It was a fun filled day with many interactive.

KG- Handwriting Competition BCLR organized a Handwriting Competition for the nursery and Kindergarten levels. A full fledge criteria was given to the parents before the event. The children presented beautiful pieces of handwriting. Merit certificates were given to the winners. There was 100% student participation

Morning Assemblies To gain confidence Children’s Morning Assemblies are a regular culture of BCLR. Every class has a different theme and there is 100% children participation. Our children and teachers also arrange special assemblies on different occasions like: Teachers Day, Global Dignity Day, Iqbal Day and Qiuad-e-Azam Day.

Interschool English & Urdu Creative Writing Inter-school Essay Writing Competition was held on 27th November,12 at Beaconhouse School System, Harley Street Branch. Students of Class VI, VII participated in English and Urdu Essay Writing. As always, our brilliant writers made us proud.

Our five students secured positions. In English Fatima Nawaz from class VI secured 2nd position, Shiza Malik from class VII secured 2nd position and in Urdu , Sibel Afzal from class VI E secured 2nd position. In class VII, Muhammad Bilal Mohsin secured 1st position and Hamza Nawaz secured 2nd position.

Story Session (Class I’s and II’s) The last day before winter break turned out to be a day filled with fun & enjoyment for class I and II as volunteer mothers came for Story Session in the classes. The class depicted the scene of Fairy Land and children discussed the moral values from stories. Children were very excited during the session and the mothers equally enjoyed the session with the children.

A Tale of Civilization

BCLR Senior Branch celebrated History Day in December. The theme of the day was “ A Tale of Civilization”. Students of class VI, VII were clad according to the civilization they were depicting. Ambiance of the school, costumes of students and props were worth watching. All art work displayed on the walls and boards in and outside of the school was done by students themselves. The day proved to be a success with the presence and support of parents and guests.

Pakistan Maths Challenge The brilliant students of BCLR participated in Pakistan Maths Challenge Contest on 30th and 31st October, 2012.

Our branch BCLR secured 3rd position in all Pakistan Schools.

Class VI secured 1st position in over all Pakistan Classes.

Ali Kazmi student of Class IV secured 23rd position. It was a great achievement of students. The PMC Award Ceremony was held on 10th December, 12 in Lahore organized by the Mathelatics Team. The chief guest was “Dr. Fazal e Aleem, a Prominent Scientist (Pride of Performance) and Mrs. Roohi Haq was also one of the honorable guests. Our students, teachers and parents went to attend the ceremony. It was a wonderful experience for students to receive the awards on such an auspicious occasion.

Intersection Poetry Recital Class I-V The Intersection English Poetry Recital 2012-13 was held on 20th December, 2012. It was a fabulous event in which students from class I to V participated enthusiastically. Students were judged on the basis of expression, intonation, voice projection, mood and rhythm.

Interschool Poetry Recitation Inter-school Poetry Recitation Competition was held at BKR on 4th Dec’12. Five branches including BCLR participated at level I & II. Children were very well prepared and enthusiastically participated in the competition. Their team work and confidence enabled them to achieve 1st and 2nd positions.

Book Fair "A book is a gift you can open again and again." Garrison Keillor. Books are the best friends for our children. It enables them to learn with entertainment enhancing their creativity and their comprehension skills. To encourage and inculcate a habit of reading in our little leaders, a Book Fair was held at BCLR 0n 6th and 7th December’12.

Mega Art Contest BCLR hosted an exuberant Art Contest on Monday, 15th Oct,2012. Contestants from other branches of Beaconhouse School System also participated in the event. Our budding artists composed some amazing and breath taking pieces of art and bagged prominent positions from all levels.

1st Parent Teacher Meeting As coordinating triangle of Parent-Teacher –Child is extremely essential for effective learning outcomes, the First Parent-Teacher meeting was held at BCLR on 20th October 2012. All the teachers and parents were able to have a comfortable coordination during this time to work upon the child’s progress.

Staff– Bon Fire A heart warming Bonfire was arranged at BCLR by the staff of Kindergarten Branch on 21st December, 12. All the staff members were invited and the theme of the get together was Desi which added colours to beautiful atmosphere. Hilarious skits, news items and songs from teachers made the evening a memorable event.

Teachers Training Teacher training has always been an important aspect of BSS. Professional development is an ongoing process and staff is trained in all teaching subjects for effective implementation of the curriculum regularly. It is a target to ensure that entire staff attends Teacher Foundation Course which is done by SGO.2 in this academic year. Along with this teachers are also enrolled for training sessions of ICT lessons. 50 % staff got training for implementing effective Maths lessons using resources.
