Newsletter UPPER PRIMARY SECTION WALTON CAMPUS

Principal's Message Dear Parents, Students & My Staff @ Walton Campus Assalam-u-Allikum, It’s that time of the school year when we say goodbye to one another and begin a welldeserved vacation time. The academic session 2020-21 was a roller coaster ride for all of us, switching to the BSU and F2F Hybrid Model of Teaching & Learning as per Government’s Directives and then back again when required. Even in the face of all the difficulties we have been through, it has been one of the most insightful experiences I’ve had throughout my educational career. Watching the determination and commitment of our students, teachers, and families has been amazing. Each day our community found a way to ensure our learners received a quality academic experience. The proverb “it takes a village to raise a child” has never been more profound. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to so many that helped BSS Walton Campus achieve sustained success this year. Firstly, to the BSS Head Office & CSO and Cluster Office for their endless support and guidance to BSS community in maintaining the operational integrity of our school throughout this global pandemic. Additionally, to our faculty and school personnel. You are the front-liners and true heroes of our school. Every success within our school is a tribute to your professionalism and commitment as educators. Lastly, and possibly most importantly, to our amazing parent body and students. Your understanding, support, and collaboration during the last almost 15 months is remarkable. Thank you, everyone. Having experienced both models of teaching & learning, it is but evident to all that school is a framework to not only educate but also to build children’s personalities; it is a structure to teach them life skills and impart ethics and morals to live their lives as global humans of the world; a school thus, at the end of the day is not just a building alone. John Dewey put it aptly when he said, “The world is moving at a tremendous rate. Going no one knows where. We must prepare our children, not for the world of the past. Not for our world. But for their world. The world of the future.” To ensure that Beaconites continue to thrive in a world where change is constant and learning never stops, it is imperative to provide opportunities to our students at national and international platforms. Therefore, throughout 2020-21 we ensured that our students do not miss any opportunity to develop attributes and skills of a BSS of the 21st century. Kindly take out some time and enjoy reading about the achievements of our students in Term 2 of the Academic Session 2020-21. Here’s to a happy, rejuvenating, and safe summer break! Best of Luck, Tehmina Lodhi Principal – BSS Walton Campus

Budding Writer – Annaya Raza Student in Spotlight

Young Annaya Raza is the true free spirit who likes to try her luck and bring out her talent at anything and just everything. She has been our shining star when it comes to video making using PPTs and presenting them using Canva or drawing something bringing out her artist self. She is one of those students who has multiple talents. The best part is that she has found out how to discover her hidden talents. The online switching over due to the Pandemic has been a very useful one for her as she has found and explored multiple tools and has been sharing her work on different occasions. Her very recent talent as a writer left us spell bound. This 10year-old wrote an almost 4000word story on her own. The best part is that it was happily accepted by an online platform and has been liked by native English speakers as well. Their comments are overwhelming and really motivating for Annaya.

“Online learning provides fantastic flexibility, among other benefits, and aids in making the task of arranging development opportunities far easier. It is learning for all,” says Dr Sharon Jones. Our students have become quite IT savvy with BSU during the online classes, however, some of our parents were facing issues accessing the Google Classroom. To facilitate our parent body, a Virtual Guided Tour of the Google Classroom was organized.
