Y A D T L S O R O I F H C S OF

We were delighted to welcome our tiny tots back to school. Their enthusiasm and eagerness spoke volumes of how much they had missed their school and peers. The school embraced these little ones with complete preparation and 100% compliance to Covid 19 SOPs.

14th of August is the day that marks the creation of our beautiful homeland Pakistan, the country that has given us roots to stand tall, our very own culture and heritage to be proud of. Our reason to celebrate!

Pre Nursery’s Trip To Zoo The newly admitted students of Nursery accompanied their parents to a day full of meaningful activities and learning. Parents were given a detailed orientation of the EYs areas and daily routine through live teaching sessions and participation in activities.

A trip to Lahore Zoo was arranged for the students of Pre Nursery on Wednesday 3rd November 2021. The recreational trip was arranged to let children experience the real life animals and have some hands on experience of what their artificial habitat looks like.

SANDWICH MAKING By Little Chefs of Pre-Nursery

Teaching life skills to our young ones is one of the many reasons hands on activities are arranged. Keeping this in mind a sandwich making activity was arranged for our little Beaconites of Pre-Nursery. They were super happy of themselves and ate the sandwich with pride. A reflection worksheet was sent home to build home-school connection and also to give an insight of a regular school day to children.

Curriculum Orientation Session (Pre- Nursery)

In order to take the parents of Pre Nursery students on board, A Curriculum Orientation Session was conducted by the HM Early Years on Thursday 7th October 2021 in the school auditorium. This session helped the parents to understand the curriculum layout, teaching strategies, assessment methods and school policies. The session was followed by a question answer session to address the parents’ queries.

Oral Hygiene A ‘Tooth Brushing’ activity was arranged for our Pre Nursery learners. They brought their own toothbrushes and a toothpaste tube from home. They were guided about the right manner of brushing their teeth, how they can save water while brushing by keeping the taps closed and how important oral hygiene is. Last but not the least a ‘Tooth Brushing Rules’ chart was given as a giveaway to each student to remind him/her of the day’s learning.

s ' d e T PARTY BUS

A reader 'Ted's Party Bus' was introduced using props to create a visual impact of the text. As the story unfolded, the familiar context of birthday parties helped them recall their own parties and vocabulary related to them came naturally.

Let's go for a CAR Another day full of learning and fun at Early Years Walton Campus! The activity of washing their cars was thoroughly enjoyed by our learners. It was mainly designed for our children to have the experience of washing their cars using a minimum amount of water keeping in view the need to save water. The vocabulary was also enhanced as they learnt the words like scrub, rub, wash, squish and rinse. This activity also helped enhance their fine motor skills as they used their spray bottles and squished the cleaning foam.

WASH

Let's make our own organic playdough Play dough making was one of the most engaging activities for our tiny tots. It involved their tactile learning and observing change in the form of the material from dry to wet and then to knead able dough.

Gingerbread Man Activity

This time our storytelling session had our children captivated with the classic ‘Gingerbread Man’. The Pre-Nursery area was immersed in the folklore as the day started with storytelling of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ by the teacher of Pre-Nursery, followed by a question answer session to gauge the understanding of the students. The story was aided by visuals and props. As a continuation of the story telling session, students baked their very own Gingerbread Men.

PARENT TEACHER

1202

MEETINGS In order to provide the parents with an opportunity to discuss the academic, social & emotional

development of their children face to face Parent Teacher Meetings were organized on 29th & 30th October 2021.

f o t r a e h T story telling Following all the SOPs our Early Years’ Library resumed its usual operation. Reading Awareness Sessions in this regard were arranged for the mothers and students of Pre Nursery on 7th and 10th December 2021. Mothers were briefed about the importance of reading books to little ones, how effectively they can read to their children, what value it holds in the later years of their child’s life and the important factors to be kept in view while selecting a book with their child

COFFEE MORNING

Keeping up with our tradition to ensure collaboration with the new BSS parents and to get to know about their aspirations for their children, the Coffee Mornings of this session were co-hosted by Mrs. Tehmina Lodhi and Ms. Faiza Durrani for the parents of Nursery students on 1st and 2nd September 2021. This meet-up was equally important for the parents and the management. The informal chit-chat over a cup of tea and snacks provided both with an opportunity to talk about the role of school in the social and cognitive development of children.

LEARNING TRAFFIC RULES

During the settling in phase an exciting activity was arranged for the Pre-Nursery students. Learners experienced the basic traffic rules. Sense of direction through road signs ‘right’ and ‘left’ was also introduced to the learners. The main objective of the activity other than these was also to inculcate sense of responsibility in a child.

Learning /t/ sound with Tina the Turtle

The introduction of the sound and shape of the letter /t/ was done with an activity titled,“Tina the Turtle”. It all started with the story telling session of ‘Tina the Turtle’ followed by a walk through the discovery table of objects starting with the /t/ sound. Children came clad in wonderful attires of the letter /t/ vocabulary such as tree, taco, table tomato, turtle etc.

Colours Around Us A fun filled Friday leads to the most awaited Monday when it comes to teaching and learning in an Early Years’ environment. What a powerfully tremendous sight it was to see children coming to school, all clad in the costumes of their allocated colours, chirping and running with joy like care free birds. The whole place came to life when the students were eagerly involved in their activities with the live music playing in the background and the weather just right for an outdoor venture. We witnessed the Picassos and Van Goghs of Walton, creating their masterpieces. A hands on experience with play dough making involved their fine motor skills, magic balloon painting kept them all excited and looking forward to what comes up next, Cling film painting revealed the colourful side of our children and the canvas, colour mixing and turtle making got our little learners use their fingers when they further decorated it with paper. The tie and dye activity was so appealing to our young learners as they experienced tying knots on the cloth and then dying it in pink. A sea scene was painted using fish turtle and starfish stencils. Some children painted their T shirts and made it look just the way they wanted. A beautiful garden scene was painted by a class which brought the spring season to life just at the onset of autumn. Colours surely have power to change the world and we saw the glimpse while our little learners were at work in the most enthusiastic and joyful manner.

Playing With letters s, a and t To ensure a wholesome experience for our Little Learners at Early Years in the Nursery Sections, the culmination of their learning of letters /s/ /a/ and /t/ in the form of easy and fun-filled activities was arranged in the Early Years Section on Friday. Each child was given a chance to be a part of a happening environment and showcase what s/he knows.

Colour Day

As a powerful communication tool, colours are irreplaceable. Due to the age appropriateness, colours related activities have always been a vital element in Early Years teaching and learning philosophy. Keeping this in view, Yellow Day was celebrated in Nursery and Pre Nursery. Students participated in activities related to the colour of the day.

LET'S LEARN ABOUT AUTUMN

An activity in collaboration with the mothers of Kindergarten students was arranged on Friday 8th October 2021, under the banner of “Colours of Autumn”.This activity aimed on developing little learners understanding of Autumn, the most mystic seasons gifted to us by God. While staying within the parameter of the theme, the mediums of Art were Land-scape, Pot Painting and Crafts Making. Students' enthusiasm while working hand in hand with their mothers was a sight to behold.

BEACONHOUSE BSS turns 46 World Teachers’ Day is celebrated each year all over the world on 5th October. Teachers' Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers. It usually includes celebrations to honor them for their special contributions in educating their students. Each year BSS Walton Campus celebrates this day with full fervor to salute the unsung heroes. This year too there was a scrumptious brunch arranged for the staff in a beautiful setting by our honorable Principal. All staff members were given their Covid-19 Vaccination Cards for their wallets. The Students made cards and posters for their teachers in order to appreciate them. Certificates, flowers, cookies and Chocolates were distributed amongst the teachers by all sections. Students sang songs to thank their teachers.

Global Handwashing Day

Global Dignity Week In order to highlight the significance of the intrinsic right of respect of every individual, we observed Global Dignity Week in the Early Years Section. It started with a donation drive initiated by the teachers and students of Early Years for the children of SOS Village. They collected stationary items, story books and eatables consisting of necessities such as milk, sugar, pulses and sugar etc. Tiny tots of Pre Nursery converted old newspapers into adorable wrapping sheets by painting their handprints in vibrant colour, depicting the love and care with which the gifts were collected and wrapped. These were handed over to the representatives of SOS village on 20th Oct 2021. Special assembly was organized to recognize the services of the School Support Staff. They were presented with the Utility Bags containing Dry Ration. Global Dignity week was observed with 100% students & staff participation duly supported by parents.

A day was celebrated with extreme zeal and zest in alliance with the Global Hand washing Day. We took the hand washing experience a notch up and helped children make their own soaps.. To add up to their real life experience they also washed their toys and blew bubbles to print the image. Teachers, in the attires & props of germs, bubbles and soaps, did the role plays to teach them how, properly washing hands with the soap kills the germs away. We are sure that this will be an unforgettable experience of their lifetime.

Universal Children's Day is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide and generating an awareness for their children's welfare. To mark the day, we at BSS Walton Campus arranged activities for our children. They were over the moon when they received their favourite giveaways. Those smiles were worth a million dollar. Our senior children of Middle school held interesting story telling sessions for the nursery students and the Kindergarten students enjoyed a magic show

Self-Confident individuals believe in themselves and in their abilities and it all begins from the very beginning of their academic path. Keeping this in view, the little ones of Kindergarten regularly participate in morning assemblies. This is an initial step towards building a confident and well rounded personality as such activities help them to overcome their shyness and fear of facing the audience .

MORNING ASSEMBLIES

Imagination knows no boundaries. Give a creative child a clue and see wonders happening. A 'craaaaaazy' hat day was celebrated across the Early Years that left every teacher awestruck. What brilliantly creative ideas we saw. We saw from garden to garlands, from solar systems to dinosaurs, from a perfect wildlife view to a ladybird hanging on the leaf, from a track on the road to the wonderfully done clown hats. There were endless ideas with endless creativity. A beautiful home school connection was built and the parents, the children, and the teachers were elated and above the moon watching our beauties go around in the school confidently with their BEST HAT ON!! Children know they had fun and enjoyed to the core, what they didn't know is that they learned to be creative, appreciative of their friends, and compassionate towards others. A Day Done Right!! HAPPY HAT DAY

crazy hat day
