NEWS LETTER2014 by:- Mudassara Ambreen Teachers Day:Teachers’ day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal in BEC on 21st October, 2014. To mark the importance of teachers and to acknowledge their efforts, the administration of BEC decided to give Letters of Appreciation to the entire faculty. A special assembly was organized in which the teachers were called to the stage to receive their Letters and a flower. The children showed their support towards the teachers by applauding and cheering. This simple act boosted the teacher’s spirit and made them feel special.


Global Dignity Day:Rawalpindi: On 15th October, 2015 Beaconhouse Educational Complex celebrated the Global Dignity Day. Activities were arranged for all levels. A Declamation Contest was held for the 11th graders. The speeches were quite motivating and moving. They were filled with the desire to be disciplined and to live a dignified life. The Students of class 10th had an essay writing competing whereas the 9th grade participated in an art competition. Through their drawings they showed their desire to not only live their own life with dignity but also to motivate others to do the same. On this day the students, staff, and administration recognized the efforts of the junior staff and as a small token of appreciation money was collected which was given to the junior staff. At the end, everybody joined hands to make a large circle to show their unity and respect for each other.


Inter Region Cricket Tournament:Rawalpindi: In the opening match between BEC and BSS Jamrud Campus Peshawar on 21st October, the home team managed an easy win.

The inauguration ceremony of inter school BSS Cricket Tournament was held at BEC motorway Campus. Ian Darlington, the assistant director of Physical Education and Sports BSS, was the chief guest. The opening match was between BEC and BSS Jamrud Campus Peshawar. After winning the toss BEC decided to bat first. They scored 123 runs for the loss of three wickets. Ali Hussain added 42 runs to the total. While chasing BSS Jamrud Campus could manage to score only 89 runs all out in the allotted 12 over match. SalarRizwan, the captain of the BEC team, clinched 3 wickets, hence a splendid win for BEC. The tournament final is on Friday 24th October, 2014 which will be held at BEC Motorway Campus.


Election Day:1st October, 2014 was the final Election Day for choosing the student council. The voting started at sharp 8:30 a.m. and ended at 1:30 p.m. The whole process was divided in two halves. Firstly the girls’ branch voted and in the second half the boys’ branch voted. Each candidate had a representative who was sitting in the election room throughout the voting procedure. The representatives were shown the empty boxes before the voting started. The same procedure was repeated for the boys’ branch as well. One section came to cast their vote with their respective subject teachers. The student entered and got her name checked in the class list; the thumb was marked and then given the ballot papers. This whole process took one sand a half hour after which the counting started for the girls’ branch. The counting was done in front of the representatives to ensure that the elections were free and fair. Next the boys’ branch voting process started which was conducted in the same way as the girls’ branch. This whole process took three hours. The respective representatives sat throughout the voting process and the counting. The elections were flawless and exceptionally fair. The students were allowed to choose their own representatives.

QURAN KHAWANI:-


On 5th September, the first Friday of September, Quran Khawani was held at BEC. The students decorated their classes by putting white sheets on the tables and throwing rose petals on them. They brought Suparas from their homes and read the Holy Quran in their respective classes. The students showed great enthusiasm and determination the finish at least one Quran per section. In the end a special prayer was organized in which Mam Robina gave a brief lecture on the importance of reciting the Holy Quran and a special prayer was made for a better future of the students and a prosperous Pakistan.

Sports Festival:Rawalpindi: The Sports Fest was organized by the administration of Beaconhouse Educational Complex on 5th December, 2014 for a healthy interaction between the parents and teachers. It was a fun filled event with lots of activities not only for the students but parents as well. The main event was the cricket match between the respective house, Pegasus, Delphinus, Orion and Cassiopeia, in which the fathers also showed their talent. Delphinus was victorious in this match. Archery, races and tug of war made this fest even more successful. Full participation from mothers in eating and singing competition brought excitement and liveliness to the sports fest.


Winners were presented with shields and participation certificates were given out.

Investiture Ceremony:Rawalpindi: The most awaited day by the student council members, the investiture ceremony, was held on 28th November, 2014. The ceremony began with the Holy name of Allah followed by a brilliant presentation on Beaconhouse School System. Before the students were honoured with their sashes and arm bands Mr. Nasir Kasuri the Executive Director said a few words of encouragement and a small briefing about the IB Diploma Program. An eye watering and heart touching play was performed by the students of BEC at the National Child Rights Art Festival and the same play was staged at the investiture ceremony. The assistants were the first ones to be honoured followed by the vice presidents and presidents. Finally the main student body consisting of the House Captains, Student Counselors, Deputy Sports Captain, Deputy Headboy/girl, Sports Captains and the Headboy and Headgirl were honoured respectively with their sashes and arm bands. Both the Headgirl and Headboy gave their speeches and in the end BEC’s HM Mrs. Gulraiz Husain congratulated the Student Council and thanked the parents for attending the function.


World Cancer Day On 27th October, 2014 Beaconhouse Educational Campus Olevel girl’s branch celebrated World Cancer Day. A hustle and bustle could been seen since early morning amongst the girls as they were busy putting pink ribbons on their sashes, showing support towards this cause. The event, which was held in SaddiqSadiqAudiotium, started with a speech of MarriamShabir of 11C-P. Then the chief guest was invited to enlighten the students about breast cancer. Brigadier Dr. SaimaNaheed, a graduate of AMC and currently appointed in CMH, delivered a short yet very informative speech on breast cancer explaining its causes, symptoms and treatment. This was followed by a question answer session in which the students discussed all their ambiguities. The thirty minutes speech was very helpful and informative. MarriamShabir ended the event with a beautiful quote. Cancer is so limited. It cannot destroy love It cannot shatter hope It cannot corrode faith


It cannot surpass memories It cannot silence courage It cannot invade the soul It cannot steal eternal life It cannot conquer the spirit And it cannot kill friendship So believe you can and you are halfway there In the end Mam Gulreez Husain, the HM of BEC, presented a certificate of appreciation to the chief guest and concluded the programme.
