TheFirstWord Dear Parents,

Children who read achieve better in school. Reading promotes achievement in all subjects, not just English. Children who are good readers tend to achieve better across the curriculum. Children learn new words as they read. Subconsciously, they absorb information on how to structure sentences and how to use words and other language features effectively in their writing and speaking.

learners with reading difficulties. I would like to appreciate parents’ personal interest in this reading program, the program is at its initial stage and the impact is gradual however, sustainability in the efforts would eventually make its mark. Our primary aim of “Star Readers” programme is to enable readers to read maximum words, within and out of context. Furthermore, parents are requested to visit school’s library regularly, and read story books to children at home, as reading together on a sofa, bedtime stories and visiting the library are just some ways of spending time together. Narjis Rizvi Head Mistress

Hence our “Star Readers” programme at Jauhar KG-I, not only enhances reading skills of our brilliant readers, it equally motivates

He might even end up eating a whole sandwich if it is cut into WANT YOUR KIDS TO EAT MORE smaller pieces and a whole fruit if it is sliced. LUNCH? PACK LESS! PARENTS AS PARTNERS October 2018: Beaconhouse Jauhar KGI believes in having parents as their partners, on the basis of which we conduct sessions to take the parents on board for our students’ learning. Supporting a child at home to reinforce the simplest concepts taught in class might often seem too challenging for the parent. And why wont it be, the methods, the language and the way it is taught in the classrooms today is completely different from how they learnt. This at times tends to confuse children instead of being helpful.

Keeping this in mind, CPA sessions were conducted in the branch where our respected parents were briefed about ways in which they can assist their child at home while doing math. It was a practical session where parents themselves practiced on a few mathematical concepts using the resources our students use in their classrooms. They followed the complete concrete, pictorial and abstract (CPA) approach throughout the session to develop a deeper understanding which will then assist them while providing support to their child at home.

IN A GLOBAL WORLD WE SHOULD ALL BE CITIZENS,

Students on this day were given a brief introduction of the Global Dignity Day, DIGNITY HAS NO NATIONALITY- students during Circle time activity, discussed about times where they showed Tania Buguera compassion towards one another, and how they went out of way to help others . Other activities like pledge taking, art fair, assembly presentations and peace walks were conducted throughout the school.

17th October 2018: Global Dignity day was celebrated by students of Jauhar KG-I to highlight the importance of dignity for one’s own self and for everyone else. The world of today is getting more and more global, children need to attain acceptance more now than ever. Students in their daily life at school and even outside, come across people from different culture, religion and people with morals and values much different than theirs; it is therefore very essential for the schools of today to instill acceptance, respect and love for everyone equally.

IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO BE These and many other qualities like good INTELLIGENT, READ THEM pronunciation and accent are acquired by FAIRY TALES – Albert Einstein our students through performing on events like the literary day.

8th November 2018: The story books came to life at Beaconhouse Jauhar KG-I on the Literary Day held in the school for level Pre-Nursery to Grade Ones. Students confidently took up on different characters of a story and reenacted it for parents. Students are trained not only to handle the props but the dire focus is on the dialogue delivery, the accent and intonation while delivering it.

Our tiny learners when given the opportunities to speak on their turn and work as a team to reenact on short stories and rhymes, tend to build confidence and high self esteem.

Students also work on creating their own big book, where they illustrate the book and write their own dialogues. These books were also presented to the head mistress and the parents. They also create their own bookmarks which further develops the love for books and reading; which indeed is a great habit to develop in their early childhood.
