THE SCHOOLS FOCUS FOR 19-20 There are some areas where we need your support in 19-20. We will be working on improving these and setting protocols. Student attendance and punctuality Students are expected to maintain regular full attendance and come to school on time. These are key factors which if disregarded by, will have a negative impact on your child’s learning and achievement Birthday Parties We are happy to facilitate those parents who wish to celebrate their child’s birthday in school, however we hope for better support from parents in terms of planning and protocols. Student Snack lists To promote healthy eating habits in students we will be starting a student snack calendar / list and look forward to your support to make it successful. If you have any suggestions for healthy options, please email Ms. Saba the PRO and we will note your feedback. Reading, Reading, Reading This will be the schools focus in 19-20, and again can’t do it without your full support parents.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND DOWN. SUMMER FUN ACTIVITIES Parents, do take up this opportunity to relax and spend quality time with your child. The summer holiday does not necessarily mean a trip on a plane somewhere. There are a host of healthy outdoor activities which you can engage in.Old favorites such as climbing trees, using sling-shots, playing camping in your front yard or balcony, cuddling up with a book, playing Ludo etc. are ever welcome. Arranging for cousins and friends to come over for ‘night spends’ creates wonderful memories. Places to visit / Things to do in Karachi.

MAKING TIME FOR LEARNING Research indicates that many students lose the equivalent of one to two months of reading and Math skills during the summer and do not score so well on assessments as those who continue to learn during the summer. As always we encourage our children to remain active in learning. Please see below some fun ways to prevent summer learning loss. • Set aside 15-20 minutes a day for your child to read a book.
