Dear Parents, While I am drafting this message for the newsletter, we are all ready to bid farewell to the year 2020, and welcome year 2021. We have struggled through to the end of an unusal year and I am hugely grateful to you all, being the most supportive parent body. It is because of your co-operation and trust that we have made the best of it during the pandemic. I hope you have a very good year ahead. I am confident that the newsletter helps us connect and keeps you updated on the school life of your children. This edition of the newsletter is aimed to provide an insight into school activities and celebrate the achievements of our students. I wish you all a happy new year. Regards Principal BCCQ

Independence Day The students of Beaconhouse School System, Qasimabad Campus celebrated Pakistan's 73rd Independence Day virtually by dressing up in the Pakistani Cultural dresses depicting and symbolising diversity among the country and prepared dishes representing national flag colours in Green and White. They sang national songs and answered the quiz about national events. They had a virtual tour of Mazar-e-Quaid and wrote Pakistan hamari Pehchaan messages.

Defence DayThe Defence Day was celebrated on 6th September to pay tribute to the brave sons of our soil. Diverse activities included crafting military caps and soldiers using recycled materials, Speeches, Plays, Singing choir, Verbal and Visual presentations, Quiz Competitio and many more activities were carried out by all the levels.

Global Hand Washing Day The 2020 Global Handwashing Day theme has been “Hand Hygiene for All.” That also follows the recent global initiative calling on the society to scale up hand hygiene, especially through handwashing with soap. Pre Nursery, Nursery and class One enjoyed performing an activity of removing germs from the hands while washing them with soap.

Basket Balance Balance and coordination have always been a challenging task for young leraners. Students of Nursery practiced a Basket balance activity by balancing a basket with the help of strings attached to the end of the basket in a team. This activity helped developing arms and torso coordination as well as control over fine motor skills among students.

Amazing Autumn Nursery students were taken for a nature’s walk to admire all the fall colors that abound. They explored nature’s creative side and gathered different types of leaves. On returning back to the class, they crafted the fall leaves with a face that makes them laugh.


Virtual Picnic Day There’s nothing better than eating snacks or meals outside to enjoy the last days of summer or warm fall days. Pre Nursery students enjoyed exploring the environment and everything around them by setting up a picnic basket, adding picnic item such as paper plates, sun hats, sand toys etc to acquire the concept of outing/Picnic. Show and Tell Nursery students participated in an activity that helped them to build their selfconfidence and self-esteem. It also enabled them to improve their descriptive skills by communicating feelings, thoughts and emotions through words. The students brought their favorite toy and shared its description eagerly waiting for their turn. Thus, this event helped our tiny tots to build their social, emotional and language skills. Children’s Day The day is a reminder that every child deserves education, nurturing and the best of everything. They are the building blocks of the nation and hence, the future of the nation depends how well they are brought up. Keeping this in view, Nursery students celebrated by dressing up in their favourite characters and professions they want to choose in future. They also prepared the craft of Happiness and Joy and enjoyed the day to the fullest. Class I celebrations included, guess the picture, wall of fame and scavenger hunt.

Baking Day Students of Nursery explored modeling clay, and made a beautiful cake as a part of their ORT Reader “The Toys’ Party”. The activity helped developing hand-brain coordination, agility and fine motor skills. The activity also gave children an opportunity to be as creative as they can, resulting in increased attention span.

Free the Animal Pre Nursery students participated in a fun activity to cut animals from the paper and set them free. It helped them improve their cutting skills, hand-eye coordination as well as fine motor skills for opening and closing scissors with thumb and index finger and hand strength.

Toy Rescue Pre Nursery students had a lot of fun working on some amazing life skills as how to scoop and transfer an object. While animals sank to the bottom, scooping them was more challenging than it was expected. Their little minds came up with different ideas to rescue the toys. Butterfly Art Butterfly crafts for preschoolers is always a vibrant activity and is sure to get our young artists explore their phenomenal skills by presenting their own Art pieces. Our Pre Nursery students experimented with Thumb Printing Art on the butterfly Cutouts.little minds came up with different ideas to rescue the toys. Noodle Speedoodle Pre-Nursery students participated in this fun and simple yarn wrapping activity in which they brought yarn of their favourite colour. This activity promoted fine motor development and was also a great sensory experience.

Rolly Polly Grab Pre-Nursery participated in this fun activity by bringing their favourite soft toys, keeping them on the rolling mat and grabbing them by quickly rolling the mat.This activity helped developing gross motor skills, hand – eye coordination and skill of grabbing objects among students.

Abracadabra Magic Show A magic show was arranged for the students of kindergarten, integrating the new co-reader “Abracadabra!”. Teacher presented some magic tricks followed by reading out the reader. Students were encouraged to talk about some magic tricks if they know and showcase it in front of other students. Students also shared their Magic clips, which were blissfully enjoyed by the viewers.


Beaconhouse Birthday 45th Birthday of Beaconhouse was celebrated by the students and all staff members celebrating our success and achievements as a BSS team like every year on 4th November 2020. Gift wrapping and Birthday card making activity was carried out by our Pre-Nursery and Nursery students. The activity was a fun way to help children develop social skills of card/gift giving and receiving. Students were overwhelmed while wrapping the gift and decorating greeting card for Beaconhouse. Little Rex An interesting activity was Television Day Kindergarteners love to pretend! Engaging in organised for kindergarten students one of these rich dramatic play ideas was the best way for integrating their Reader “Little Rex'' in children to learn and grow. Sindhi Cultural Day This Day is widely celebrated with traditional enthusiasm to spotlight the centuries-old rich culture of Sindh. Sindhi Cultural day was celebrated with zeal by our students across the levels . Students presented their culture by singing regional songs, wearing Ajarak, Sindhi topi and traditional outfits. Students from all the levels sang songs and showcased traditional dance.

Mystery Math Mental Math help students understand concepts better and get to the answers faster. Students of class Two participated energetically in an Inter-class Mental Math Competition to modify number sense and enhance memory skills.

Fact File To create awareness about animals that undergo hibernation, students of class Two were involved in designing a fact file comprising information about various animals. Students were excited to share information through video making.

Farewell to Kaavan On “World Wildlife Conservation Day”, i-e 4th Dec 2020, students of Class-1 learnt about the story of “Kaavan- The World’s Loneliest Elephant” as a part of their reader “Elephant’s Story” which stimulated a real-world experience. Students were really happy to watch Kaavan being set free and mad made cards in a virtual session, wishing him the best for his future at the Cambodia sanctuary. Pet Day To inculcate the importance of caring for animals Iqbal Day The Day was celebrated for Iqbal’s unforgettable efforts the students of Class-1 celebrated that he made in order to raise awareness among muslims of the sub“Pet day”as a part of their continent. The celebration included diverse activities such as learning activity. The main Speeches, Kalam-e-Iqbal, Poster making Competition etc. objective of organizing Pet Day was to bring an awareness and create a sense of responsibility as well as the love and care for other living beings. Students were excited to show their pets and provided relevant information about them. It was truly a wonderful and knowledgeable virtual experience for our learners.


Mathematics Mania CompetitionGrade three Mathematics Mania conducted on Nearpod was an interesting competition, where students displayed their mental abilities and solved different quizzes within the given time frame.

Fractured Fairy Tales Stories always give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of the world. Keeping this in mind, a Fractured Fairy tale competition was conducted for the students of class V. Students enthusiastically participated in the activity by altering the famous fairy tales and recreating them. Their way of narrating the story was appreciable.

Eid Milad un Nabi Students of class 3, 4 and 5 celebrated the Eid Miad un Nabi virtually. The event commenced with recitation of Holy Quran, followed by Naat, Durood Pak and Hadith. Students expressed their respect and love through their soulful speeches on Seerat-Un- Nabi.

Debate Competition Debate is one of the academic activities that give students creative places to express their point of view. Keeping this perspective in view, an Inter-class Debate Competition was held among the students of Class III & V. Students had put tremendous effort to showcase their talent. The aim of the competition was to develop confidence and public speaking skills.

Story Writing Competition A short story writing competition was organized for class IV, where students wrote small stories related to the given picture using the shared Padlet Wall. The activity helped students to enhance their story writing skills. End of Term Party In order to celebrate and appreciate students efforts towards a successful academic year, End of term party was planned that included Winter fun games, Singing, Talent Show, Bingo etc. Students thoroughly enjoyed the day filled with virtual fun activities.
