NEWSLETTER Head’s Note
Dear Parents,
As you know, another academic year has come to an end. With completion of this year, where we had a bulk of accomplishments and achievements, triumphs and awards, simultaneously we had learnings and realizations too. We all strive for extravagant learning opportunities for students and the credit goes to not only teachers and management of LPII, but unquestionably parents as well, who have been supportive, considerate and cooperative throughout the session. They fully devoted themselves and effectively contributed towards enabling their children achieving a milestone for a better tomorrow. My heartiest congratulations to all the students especially high achievers and I am looking forward to better and healthier learning prospects in the longer run. Anjuman Rashdi SMI Latifabad Primary II BSS LPII has always emphasized an environment full of creativity, projecting critical and analytical thinking, making vivacious learners, as per standards of BSS Learner profile. Open Day Open house was celebrated on 16th February 2019, in which variety of activities were brought in to numerous Learning stations projecting all the attributes of BSS learner profile through numerous activities like The Joy of Cooking Healthy with my Mom, Concrete Pictorial Abstract Approach, Storyland (LLRC), Global Village, Fun Craft (creativity through recycling) ,Parental Awareness Session, Stage Performances, Gaming Zone, Rocket Science, Registration Desk, Bake it up!, BSS Is the Best!, Math Wizards, IT Hub, and much more. Learning festival was sundry, diverse and was highly captivating for everyone.

Creative & Innovative Arts and Crafts BSS aims at providing an ambience which strengthens and values creativity. To stimulate student’s creativity and imagination, heaps of craft activities were carried out along the session including Foil work, Formic sheet flowers, Stone painting, Leaf printing, Pencil holder making, Rilli work, Picasso paintings, Landscape, Moods and feelings and a lot more.
Poem Writing Competition Our learners of Grade IIIs and IVs diligently participated in the ‘Poem Writing Competition held on 18th March 2019. From Grade IIIs, Aliza Khan Gouri (3C) and Muhammad Mustafa (3C) stood First. From Grade IVs the praiseworthy student Hafsa Shafiiq (4A) stood first and wrote the winning poem of this competition.

Project Based Learning and Hands On activities Project Based Learning enables students acquire deeper knowledge on any topic through learning by dealing with a project or problem. Students attended PBL classes on weekly basis doing innovative tasks and hands on activities through participating in a group. They designed multiple projects on ‘Globe’, ‘the life of desert’ and on ‘a musical instrument’ that can produce and learnt massively through hands on activities using all five senses.
Inquisitive Science Quiz To expand students’ knowledge and understanding of the scientific concepts, Science Quiz competitions for grade IIs on 13th May 2019 and IIIs were organized on 14th March respectively. The competitions witnessed enthusiastic preparation and participation. A word of appreciation and certificates were distributed among all the participants to amplify their confidence and commend their efforts. From grade III Team B comprising of Laiba Arshad (IIIA), Hiba Ahmed (IIIA), M. Soban Arain (IIIB), Wania Khurram (IIIC) and Moazzam Ali got first position. From grade II- Wajid Junejo, Umeima Jawed, Ali Abbas, and Abdul Kabeer secured first position.

Analytical Mental Math Competition To develop quick and accurate mental arithmetic skills, Mental Math competition was held in the premises of BSS LP-II on Friday, 18th January, 2019 among the students of grade IIIs. The certificates were awarded to the winners to appreciate their efforts and boost their self-esteem. Ethical & Globally Competent Mother’s Day Celebration Mother’s Day was taken as a golden opportunity to honor and express their gratitude towards their mothers. The celebration continued for two days long where 2nd May, 2019 was dedicated to the mothers of grade I’s and II’s students, whereas 3rd May, 2019 solely for the mothers of grade III’s students. The young, enthusiastic Beaconites presented beautiful photo frames and paper flower bouquets as a token of love to their mothers. Students gay-fully chanted quotations, poems speeches, tableaus and songs in the praise of these heavenly creatures on Earth

International Women’s Day To honor the efforts of the women around the world from different walks of lives, BSS LP II celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2018. Mothers of students (belonging to different segments of lives) became part of the celebration. SMI gave Purple and White hand bands to the mothers and female teachers.
Globally Competent HRCA Competition BSS always encourage children to take part in third party activities as they are very vigorous and encouraging for children. Students in this session once again took part in HRCA Competition of Arts and English and Spellathon. Ishal Ahmed Memon (2C), Ibrahim (2B) and Zaira Zeeshan (2A) got bronze medal in the category of English while Ma Xieue (2C, Wan Wei (1A) from Muhammad Ayan Asif got bronze medal in the category of Science.

Assembly Presentations Assembly presentations were piloted all the way through the session by numerous grades on diverse topics. A massive number of mothers graced with their presence in these presentations and valued the students’ enactments and teachers’ struggles a lot.
Spell Bee Competition To enable students improve their spellings and BSS LP II organized a Spell Bee Competition among the tiny tots of Grades I & II on Tuesday, 26th February, 2019. Students’ performance was appreciated by distributing certificates among them. .Bareena Shaikh, Muhammad Ismail, Muhammad Rafique (II-B) Aun Sheerazi and Ayesha Waqar secured 1st position

Digitally Intelligent Skype Session A Skype session for grade III was arranged with Dr. Ambreen Shahriar, Associate professor of English Language and Literature at University Of Sindh (PhD Educational Studies Goldsmiths College, London, UK; A. Applied Linguistics at TESOL University of Leicester, UK; IELTS, Cambridge University Certificated). In this session, different strategies were shared to develop student's reading skills to improve literacy and language.
E - Story Writing Competition An innovative and a well-creative ‘Online Story Writing Competition’ for Grade IIs on March 1st, 2019. The competition enabled students show their imaginative skills by organizing a complete interesting story. The students who stood first were Hoorain Fatima Haider, Ayema Batool and Ayna Shoaib from IIA.

Holistic and Self-Sufficient The physical health and fitness of the students have always been the utmost concern of BSS. To meet this concern, pupils at BSS-LP II have experienced a broad range of activities this year in Physical Education. Such activities facilitate the kids to develop better ways to cope with the highs and lows of life while learning to be cooperative, disciplined, honest, resilient and selfless. Handball Match The handball match were organized among the students of Grade IIs on March 19, 2019. Due to continuous hard work and determination, the victory went to the Red House. The champions who participated in the red house were Rohan, Zainab, Mohammad Ahmed, Arshman, Shazir, Wania and Abdul Rehman.
Futsal Match 21st March, 2019 marks the time of the year when BSS- LP II hosted Inter-house Futsal Match between the pupils of grade IIIs. The students belonging to all the four houses- Red, Green, Yellow and Blue, participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. It was witnessed to be a tough and jaw-dropping tournament. However, Yellow house managed to lift the trophy in the end. Best performer titles were won by Abdullah Mustafa from Red House, Muhammad Kazim from Green House, Humza Khan from Blue House and Muhammad Mustafa from Yellow House.

Cricket Match The Inter-house Cricket Match was arranged on March 13th, 2019. It was indeed one of the most memorable events. Grade IV’s students participated actively and enthusiastically. The four teams were representing their houses as Red, Blue, Green and Yellow respectively. The massive improvement from time to time in the Green House team became the reason of its victory. The certificates were distributed among the students for their lively performances while the Trophy went to the winning captain Taha Yaseen and his team.
Few other Glimpses Parent Teacher Meeting 2nd parent teacher meeting was conducted in March 2019 in order to keep parents updated about students’ progress. Parents and teachers mutually discussed the areas of improvements and overall performance of the students.

End of Year Examination Orientation for Parents of Grade IV Considering that grade IV was to attempt exam for the first time, so in order to facilitate parents and address their queries, orientation sessions were conducted by BSS Latifabad Primary II on 14th April 2019 so that provided sufficient guidance to the parents for Exams preparation.
Literacy Week Beaconhouse Latifabad Primary-II celebrated International library week from 15th to 22nd of April 2019 in the school premises, in which numerous activities were carried out to promote literacy and learning among the students like Writing club embraced various creative writing tasks, Drama Club included Role play, Reading Mania club involved the reading of a number of books.

Inter-Class Reading Competition Inter Class Reading Competition held on Thursday, 07 February 2018, all students of class II participated. It was conducted in two sessions. Urdu Elocution: Our diligent learners are simply good at gestures, vocabulary, emphasis, voice modulation and in order to increase the effectiveness, Urdu Elocution was organized in grade II on 20th march 2019, in which Sanwal Khan from 2A, Areesha Memon from 2A and Rohan from 2C got 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Certificates were awarded to appreciate the efforts of students.
