Independence Day Independence Day was celebrated on Monday, August 13, 2018 this year. Students of Gulshan Cambridge showed great enthusiasm by bringing along the Pakistani flags and cheering for the participants for various performances while some children prepared skits, national songs and speeches as a way to pass the information and important knowledge about the Independence Day among other students. The stage was set up for children to show their talent and no stone was left unturned in lighting up the stage with their energetic and powerful performances passing on strong messages regarding the Independence Day! Meet and Greet (Class IX) On September 12, 2018, an interactive session with parents of Class IX to discuss CAIE objectives and orientate them with the system to education that CAIE follows. This session also aimed at resolving queries of the parents regarding the O level grading system and further equivalency processes, etc. Parents were guided as to how students should prepare themselves over the period of three years to successfully complete O Levels with good grades. Meet and Greet (Class X) On September 13, 2018, an interactive session was held between teachers with parents to discuss CAIE objectives.


Visionaries 2.0 by Emagine Visionaries 2.0 was organized by E-magine. In this competition, students were expected to outline, and create prototypes using basic objects for products that can be practically implemented to solve real-world problems keeping in mind the SDGs endorsed by the UN in 2016, and then present their work at the event. A team of students from Gulshan Cambridge comprising of S Faryar Zaidi (XI-I), Sabeer Faisal (XI-E), Adan Imran (XI- ) & Mustafa Naveed (XI-C) participated enthusiastically in the competition to prove their mettle. Obhartay Sitaray Obhartay Sitaray (Singing Competition) was organized by The Citizen Foundation (TCF). In this competition students select songs from 3 music genre that is Pop/Filmi, Folk/Milli & Gazal/Qawwali. The objective of Obhartay Sitaray was to provide a forum for students to display their talent and to compete without bias. It also aimed to promote cultural values by choosing only Pakistani music and to help develop team spirit amongst students. Two teams from Gulshan Cambridge participated in the event; Team 1: Nabeel Ahmed Siddiqui (XI- M), Iraj Siddiqui (X- F) & Hamza Chaudry (X-H). Team 2: Murtuza Nadeem (X-B), Aaaliya Saad Malik (IX- B) & Mohib Shehzad (IX- B). DAWN Spelling Bee Students of Gulshan Cambridge participated in one of the most exciting and challenging literary event of the year; 14th edition of DAWN Spelling Bee. The competition was organized by The Dawn Media Group, while the esteemed judges were from the Oxford University Press. The competition took place at the Arts Council of Pakistan Auditorium where our students: Hiba Yawar (XI M), Irman Iqbal (XI F) and Adan Imran (XI L) represented our branch in the Karachi District Round in 15-17 year age group category. Our students has won this round after a tough competition and had qualified for the Regional Contest.

The Beacon The Beacon, a public speaking festival was organized by Beaconhouse Regional Office at the BSS PECHS Campus which was directed to hone the students' skills regarding five different modes of public speaking likewise World Schools Debate Championship, Model United Nations, Elevator Speeches, Curated Talks and Poetry skills. In this particular format, the first of its kind in Karachi was focused on intensive enlightenment of the participants with respect to their stage presentation skills. This festival was aimed at ensuring that all participants get a taste of public speaking in all of the popular formats. The three day festival was held between 9th- 11th November 2018, comprised of many delegations from different schools and different branches of BSS, out of which 8 delegations were of Gulshan Cambridge. Costume Party Costume party was organized by Gulshan Cambridge on 23rd of November 2018, to explore the creativity and talent amongst our students. Students dressed up as different fantasy, movie and anime characters such as Red riding hood, Marshmallow, and Hatake Kakashi etc. Best dressed students were awarded with certificates. Teacher’s Day A celebration was conducted at our school by the students on 5th October 2018 to present a hearty fragrant bunch of thanks to those who tug and push and lead them to the next plateau. The whole function was planned by Student Council Members. To make the occasion special, senior teachers were invited with the Head for cake- cutting followed by presentation of hand-made greeting cards as token of love and appreciation. The school also deemed all the teachers worthy by gifting souvenirs to acknowledge their hard work and dedication in building the future generation of our country.

HRCA Quiz The students participated in HRCA English and Science quiz in the month of November. The event provided them an opportunity to test their knowledge through written as well as online test, at national forum.

Beaconhouse International Student’s Convention (BISC) Beaconhouse International Student Convention (BISC) envisions to bring our worldwide network of schools together to create a global community of students and teachers who can learn from one another while representing Beaconhouse as an international leader in education. Event theme for the BISC 2019 is “Multiple Literacies for A world of Tomorrow Reimagined”. One of the key objectives for holding BISC is to provide a platform to the wider Beaconhouse community to interact with each other and experience different cultures. BISC may serve as a good platform for students to gain valuable stage experience and exposure of competing with contestants from outside their home countries. Each country would select up to one student for the main event. Apart from chance to compete in singing competition, the event provides students with international exposure and opportunities to experience different cultures and interact with their fellow pupils across the Beaconhouse network.


BISC Talks Event theme for the BISC-Talks 2019 was “An Inclusive Future”. BISC - Talks is meant to provide students with an opportunity to express and learn while interacting with students from different branches. It also helped in developing tolerance for different ideas and opinions. Structure of the Event BISC-Talks followed a competitive panel discussion format. Zainab Fatmi (X- H) enthusiastically competed till the Regional round. BISC Quiz BICS Quiz 2019 offered an opportunity to its participants to take part in an intense battle of the minds as contestants showcased their mental acumen and intelligence in the quiz show. It was a unique experience that not many students get to have, a rare chance to meet and compete with other students in the region while keeping it friendly. BISC Quiz of 2019 comprised of questions which were global and general in nature. Topics were varying from current affairs, history, entertainment, sports, monuments, literature, language, politics, food, culture, technology, science and many more in form of textual and audio-visual basis in five rounds. Being an active part of quiz competition, our participants were encouraged not only to expose their vast knowledge but also compete with their fellow students of same age and network. Umaim Afzal (IX- A) and Mohammad Omer Daraz (IX- E) made it to the Regional round. BISC Idol Students of Gulshan Cambridge enthusiastically participated in the School Group Rounds and out of which Hamza Chaudry (X- H) made it to the Regional Round and gained appreciation and applause from the judges and fellow contestant. BISC Clicks This year the topic of the competition was Symbiotic future. One of our student Fatima Imran (XI- ) got selected in the School Group Round and she competed till the Regional Round. Her work had that futuristic approach which impressed the judges and they appreciated her well. BISC Art This year the theme for Art Installation this year was “A Safer Future”. A very well thought and beautifully presented art installation was made by our student Ammar Karim Shah (X- I). The main idea of the installation was “Beauty is all we see, peace is all we feel, but once the fire is unleashed, destruction is what you cannot heal”. The artist message through the exhibit was to promote peace and keep the weapons caged because once they will be set free demolition will take over, the generations that are safely resting will fall apart and both infrastructure and nature will be disturbed. The artist believe that the gun has no power until the trigger is pulled.

BISC Video BISC Film Festival has been a part of international level events following the theme of the most recent ‘’Schools of Tomorrow’’ event.it is an opportunity for the students to exhibit their skills in the art of Short Film making on the theme of ‘’An Expressive Future’’. Collaborated through sheer hard work and dedication. The film presented the concept that how an individual feels about the changings occur in his surroundings and what will be the consequences if it's only about destruction. The film actually showed the power of a sensitive, responsible, courageous and common individual to bring positive change in his society and culture. A Level Orientation session Beaconhouse aims to facilitate and guide their student to select from the range of career options to shape the best possible future of students. Therefore, Gulshan A level career advisors, ACE coordinator and students visited Gulshan


Cambridge to guide students of grade XI. The session was aimed to familiarize the students with A-level dynamics, scholarship, ACE score and university placement. The also briefed students regarding the College Fair 2018. Special Olympics training session Gulshan Cambridge is striving to spread dignity through Sports. We are collaborating with Special Olympics Pakistan to introduce UNIFIED Sports. Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organisation for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to 5.7 million athletes and Unified Sports partners in 172 countries. For over 23 years, Special Olympics Pakistan has used sports to fight for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities. Through the common and simple vehicle of sports, Special Olympics has helped bring about an attitudinal change in the way people with intellectual disabilities view themselves and are viewed and treated by others, replacing misunderstanding and fear with respect, acceptance, and inclusion. Gulshan Cambridge and Special Olympics collaborate for a training session once every week to train a Gulshan Cambridge UNIFIED team. LICF Documentary Lahore International Children’s Film Festival has been organized by The Little Art, for the children and youth of Pakistan since 2008. The Festival has been pivotal to entertain, inspire and educate thousands of children in several cities across Pakistan. The aim of this film festival is to give students, young and adults an opportunity to showcase their talent in an International Festival and earn recognition for them while representing their schools. Gulshan Cambridge short documentary film ‘My Mother- A True Story based short film on Ifrah Amir’ directed by Altamash Sirdar (XI- L) was selected through Lahore International Children Film Festival Young Filmmaking Competition. The short film was one of the top 72 movies selected from 29 countries.

Intra-Region Under-15 Basketball BOYS In the Intra-Region Under-15 boys Basketball Tournament. Team of Gulshan Cambridge reached the Quarter finals in intra region tournament. GIRLS In the Intra-Region under 15 Girls Basketball Tournament Team of Gulshan Cambridge successfully reached the Quarterfinals.

Intra-Region Under-15 Futsal Boys Gulshan Cambridge team reached the semifinals and secured third position in the Intra-Region Futsal Tournament after selection by trials conducted in Gulshan Cambridge. The observers were Sir Kamran, Miss Afaff Zafar and Syed Durrab Ahmed Girls Gulshan Cambridge team came third in the Intra-Region Futsal Tournament.


Boys’ Intra-Region Cricket Tournament In the Intra-Region Cricket Tournament, Gulshan Cambridge team reached Semi Finals by defeating PECHS campus in Quarter finals. Overall performance of team was good.

Singfest z` Singfest 2018 was organised by the Music Club of Gulshan Cambridge. It was non-competitive event to encourage the young talent of Gulshan Cambridge. Singfest as an opportunity for school choir and vocal groups from all levels (IX-X & XI) to perform and hear to others performance to develop their music skills. Singfest was organized to encourage talent in music-instrumental as well as vocal, to develop an analytical, creative and intuitive understanding of music as a cultural language and to help students retain and enhance their own, individual love of music and confidence.

Graduation Ceremony To honor the graduates of CAIE 2017-2018, graduation ceremony was held at Baharia Auditorium on August 30, 2018. The students dressed in graduation cape and caps looked graceful. The ceremony began with the procession march of the school head along with the faculty of Gulshan Cambridge, the graduates and the guests welcomed their teachers with standing ovation. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Ms. Sajida Zaki stressed upon acquiring of knowledge through developing reading habits in the students. The valedictorians Saud Saifullah securing 10 As, Abdul Rafay Ayaz and Taha Hussain. Dua Amir secured all 9 A* expressed their gratitude to their teachers and parents and thanked their friends for their support.


Student Council To support the faculty in maintaining discipline and in organizing various school events, every year representative from the students are selected as the students Council. This year Online polling the Council was elected after a colorful and an enthusiastic campaign by the candidates. The elected student’s council consisted of;

Global Dignity- Parliamentary Debate Parliamentary Debate Competition on account of Global Dignity Day 2018. The aim of this event was to raise awareness regarding dignity and enhance the public speaking skills of our students. From each level, two teams comprising of three members were selected after a preliminary evaluation done by the club directors. Topic for class IX: Are today’s children fashion victim? Topic for class X: Are parents responsible for acts of their children? Topic for class XI was” Our dignity is independent of others. All the speakers performed wonderfully, they presented their house opinion with facts and arguments. The third speaker rebutted the ideas very well. #GlobalDignityDay

Global Dignity -art Gulshan Cambridge Arts Club ARTOLOGY initiated an art competition on account of global dignity day. Students were asked to design a card to exhibit their innovation and creativity. Students used a various medium to show their passion for arts. These cards will be given to the Society for the Rehabilitation of Special Children.


Global Dignity Day Creative writing The members of Confetti (Gulshan Cambridge Literature Club) conducted a creative writing competition, for which the topic that had been decided was “Justice, A Myth or Reality�. Participants were expected to write either a short story or an essay. This gave us an opportunity to assess their ability to write on an unseen prompt with in a given time frame that was 40 minutes. Some student wrote really well and expressed their creativity and ideology

UNIFIED Match with BCCG Gulshan Cambridge collaborated with BCCG to spread dignity through sports. Gulshan Cambridge students along with Special athletes visited BCCG. UNIFIED team of Gulshan Cambridge competed BCCG UNIFIED team for futsal (boys), Netball (Girls) and table tennis. This activity was aimed to show compassion towards special people of the community and make them feel inclusive. #choosetoinclude #GlobalDignityDay
