A word from the School Head....

Our vision United Charter Schools enable rewarding and successful futures for young people through quality education, enabling them to make impactful contributions to the nation and the wider world.

"Leadership and Learning are indispensable to each other" John F.Kennedy I'm Attiqa Farman, currently serving as a School Head in United Charter School, Johar Town Branch. Here I would like to take the privilege to introduce United Charter Schools as a new project of Beaconhouse School System. UCS aims to impart quality education by providing blended learning opportunities and experiential learning to its students. As a school head and educationist, I believe that students' learning experiences are directly related to their welfare and safety. My cultural values and identity has always been the foundation of my purpose and desire to be a strong leader. I am committed to provide a safe, secure and a nurturing environment in school where students have opportunities to achieve their goals to their utmost potential. I aim to work with my team to instill the values of mutual respect, tolerance and care in my students and prepare them to grow as analytical thinkers to face the challenges of the changing world. Here, I would like to conclude my note with a new year wish. I wish you all a joyful and a safe winter break and a prosperous New Year!

United Charter School features INFINITY, as a communication and an information technology tool that enhances the learning process for our students, improving understanding and retention. INFINITY, powered by Singapore-based Knowledge Platform, is an adaptive learning management system and a community platform with a secure user interface for a seamless learning journey. It offers, amongst other features, a range of educational videos, engaging games and adaptive assessments to support teaching and learning.

OCTOBER 1ST- NEW BEGINNINGS FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL School year commenced on 1st of October 2020. First week of classes were designed for student orientation to help students get acquainted with their teachers and classmates.

Giveaways were distributed and photobooths were made to capture the first day of students at UCS.

GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY ‘Our future is in our hands!’

Winston Churchill Global handwashing day was observed on 15th October to promote and motivate handwashing habits in students. The correct way of washing hands was demonstrated to the students which was later followed by them.

GLOBAL DIGNITY DAY Global Dignity day was celebrated on 21st of October. Students made cards and decorated donuts for the support staff. They also took a Dignity pledge to respect everyone. This was followed by the distribution of dignity badges among the students which honored them as the Dignity Ambassadors of UCS.

Blue Day For the recognition of primary colours, Blue Day was observed on 23rd October, 2020.

Students came dressed in blue clothes and participated in colour recognition games and activities.

Our Initiatives!!

Healthy Eating week and Organic Kitchen Garden UCS observed healthy eating week from 26th-28th October 2020.

Students were encouraged to follow a healthy menu throughout the week. Those who followed a healthy diet received a ‘Lunchtime Super Star Award’ and a healthy eating certificate. Students also made their very own organic garden by planting different vegetable seeds. They were encouraged to eat and grow organic food at home as well.

Parental Involvement!

Workshop for Mothers!

We beileve that parents are the most important stake holders in shaping up students' lives and behaviours. In continuation to our healthy week activities, we invited mothers to attend a workshop regarding "Importance of healthy meals" and how to make their kid's lunch box healthier. A nutritionist was invited over to hold a session with the mothers which was appreciated by the parents. They acknowledged the efforts made by the school to develop healthy eating habits in their kids and educating parents in this regard.

RECYCLING WEEK Recycling week was observed from 16th-19th November 2020.

Importance of recycling was shared with the students during this week. Students recycled plastic bottles and jars, fabric, cardboard and paper by upcycling these materials creatively into beautiful new items such as pencil holders, paper bags, storage boxes and much more.

CHILDREN'S DAY ‘Children are the world’s most valuable resources and its best hope for the future’ Children’s day was celebrated at UCS, Johar Town Campus on 20th November by organizing a puppet show for the students. Students in primary classes made children’s day posters which were displayed in the school.

FIRST PTM First Parent Teacher Meeting was held on 21st November to discuss students' progress at school. The school gleamed with the display of students' projects and artwork.

EID MILAD UN NABI Eid Milad un Nabi was celebrated on 29th October, by remembering our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Students were dressed in traditional clothes and recited beautiful naats.

URDU WEEK UCS Johar town observed Urdu week from 9th-13th of November. Students of classes I-V remembered the famous Urdu poets by reciting their poetry in the morning assembly. The prominence of our great poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal was revered. The students paid homage to him by sharing his quotes and poems.

UCS CONNECT On the onset of the second wave, a sudden nationwide lockdown was implemented.

Therefore, all classes were shifted online via UCS Connect. UCS Connect enabled a smooth transition to virtual education in order to prevent learning to be put on halt.

Teaching faculty was thoroughly trained and equipped with all the required knowledge and tools necessary for remote learning.

VALUE OF THE WEEK PROGRAM The program was introduced to instill the importance of moral values in students. The values discussed were: 'respect'; 'responsibility; 'forgiveness' and 'kindness.

VIRTUAL STORY TELLING Virtual story telling sessions were organized for the students in order to enhance their listening and speaking skills. Students thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and during these times their curriculum goals were rightly achieved.

ORANGE DAY Orange day was celebrated virtually on 11th December.

Students joined their online classes in orange clothes and enjoyed the virtual puppet show on the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’.

Achievements!

INTER SCHOOL DECLAMATION CONTEST

Students of class III and IV participated in the Virtual Inter-School Declamation Contest held by UCS Elite Town Campus on 15th December.

Saba Iqbal from Class IV secured 1st position and Muhammad Ali from class III secured 2nd position. Bravo little champs!

Virtual Tour UCS Johar town campus had organized virtual tours for its students on 18th December. Early Years teachers took the students to Lahore Zoo virtually and talked about different kinds of animals and their eating habits. Students were thrilled to see the animals live on camera.

Primary students visited different coral reefs around the world virtually. It was informative as well as fascinating for the students to explore the coral reefs and their ecosystem.

Virtual Spellathon' 20 A virtual spellathon was held for the students of Kindergarten till Class V to enhance their spellings through word building games. To make this competition more engaging and exciting, various spelling games were incorporated such as linking letters, guessing words, unscramble and missing letters.

Students thoroughly enjoyed this new exciting way of learning the spellings.

End of Term Party First term comes to an end. End of Term party was held on 23rd December. Students attended the virtual party in crazy and fun attires. They had also enjoyed the story time on the book 'The Gingerbread Man' and participated in online games.
