Frisco has brought back ‘Frisco is a Treasure!’ hunt for its second summer. The hunt, which began Aug. 11, ends at 2 p.m. Aug. 29. The hunt will lead participants around some of the city’s tourist spots to collect stamps for prizes. This year, it features some of the city’s public art. “The treasure hunt is a great way to encourage our residents to explore their hometown or introduce visitors to all the fun, family oriented venues our community offers,” Mayor Maher Maso said. Treasure maps are available at 12 locations. Participants who collect eight stamps can drop their maps in one of the x-marks-the-spot boxes at any of the 12 locations to receive a coupon for the Sci-Tech Discovery Center, which is scheduled to open in October. The grand prize winner will receive the Frisco Family Fun Treasure Chest, which is values at more than $1,500 and is filled with prizes, coupons and tickets to events, including tickets for FC Dallas soccer and Dallas Mavericks Experience and a $50 gift card to Randy’s Steakhouse. The drawing for the grand prize will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 29 at Dr Pepper Arena.

Petunia is a 2-year-old Basset Hound who is looking for a home. She may be a low rider, but she’s big on personality. Petunia’s favorite activities include exploratory walks, bird-watching, lounging and is always ready for a game of chase. Petunia is family friendly and would do almost anything for a treat or a good belly rub. She is house trained, crate trained and expertly lap trained. Petunia is being cared for by Tamara Miller, a three-year foster mom with the Frisco Humane Society. All FHS dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and examined by a veterinarian. Dogs also are heartworm tested. To see Petunia and all other adoptable
