Altogether now, get your hands in the air and wave goodbye to the noughties, a decade dominated by dwindling energy supplies, widespread economic failure and natural disasters. Or was that just me? No, let's think again, there are many positive reasons to get giddy about the last ten years, aside from fab new faces like Lady Gaga and Obama we also saw the decline of boy band silliness and finally got rid of Bush. We witnessed millions come together to combat global warming and were given great new toys like magnificent mobile phones, cool digital cameras, and amazing digital audio players. The word ‘google’ become a verb, USB flash drives rapidly replaced 3.5-inch diskettes and Wireless wiped out wires. Musically the decade was marked by the dominance of hip hop, emo and electro. Kylie Minogue and Madonna regrouped, recharged and reinvented themselves to defend their respective thrones.

In his new ‘LDN’ column, Tee Lapan takes us to Paris with Rihanna and we get a front row seat at the Paris Fashion Week Chanel show. Tee and Rihanna on the way to Chanel Show, Paris.

Backstage @ the Victor and Rolf show 014

Rihanna - photo by Tee Lapan

My very first column for Bed Sheets magazine, how exciting! Actually, I’m supposed to write about what’s happening in London but I haven’t really been in the city that much recently. Here’s why…

Rihanna - photo by Tee Lapan

After finishing Madonna’s ‘Sticky and Sweet’ tour project in New York, I was asked to go to Paris to work with Rihanna. The plan was that we would go to ‘Paris Fashion Week’ to get ideas and search for a new look for her new ‘Rated R’ album. Most of the shows seemed to go for the ‘recession’ look, especially the Victor and Rolf collection. They did daring stuff like slice dresses in half and make holes in them.

They also had former Moloko frontwoman, the fabulous Roísín Murphy, performing. Despite being eight months pregnant she still managed to look fantastic and still rocked out. I’ve worked production on a couple of her music videos so I nipped backstage to say hello. Backstage, I also bumped into Katy England and her husband, Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie. Katy, who’s one of the world’s most innovative fashion image-makers, was working her magic and styling the show. 015

Lily Allen performs

The highlight of the Paris trip was without a doubt the Chanel show. Lily Allen popped up in the middle of the show and performed a song and I got to sit behind Prince. Sorry people, I was too shy to take his pic! After Paris we flew to Berlin to shoot Rihanna’s album cover with photographer Ellen Von Unwerth. Ellen became famous when she first photographed Claudia Schiffer for Guess? Jeans. Since then she’s been published in top magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Arena and I-D, and has published several books of her photography. The shoot was amazing and the photos extraordinary! So for the last three months, my life was all about Rihanna. We did the visual for her live appearance on the ‘American Music Awards’, 'X-factor' and we are currently preparing for her world tour which happens next spring. You must check out Rihanna’s new album, it’s a real departure from her old style, much harder and more mature. See Ya ! Tee 016

IN FASHION

Madame Flamingo Shoe designer / Janet Pantila Promfang

Tell us about your Madame Flamingo Brand. Madame Flamingo combines vintage with modern to come up with new footwear styles. Each pair is meticulously handmade from carefully selected materials. I feel that my shoes are unique because they are colourful and fun and I only design shoes that I would wear myself so my style permeates everything that eventually gets made. What’s been your proudest moment so far? It was probably when Zen department store started selling my shoes. Where did you learn your shoemaking skills? I studied shoemaking and shoe design in Florence, Italy. Actually, I merely learnt the basics there; I acquired most of my skills and technique outside the classroom. I can still remember the first pair of shoes I made by hand. They were red, which was and still is my favourite colour. Where do you draw inspiration from? From everywhere except shoe magazines! I get inspired at parties, from browsing through vintage magazines, wandering around flea markets, the list goes on…. I try to avoid looking at shoe magazines because I don’t want to pick up subconscious direction or stimulation from them. 022

Who’s your favourite shoemaker? The Finnish shoe designer Minna Parikka. Her shoes are super gorgeous and pay tribute to the footwear of past eras. I really love her signature style of bows, gingerbread shapes, hearts, Nordic functionalism and buckles. What would be your dream job and your dream client? A shoe designer has always been my dream job; it’s so wonderful that I am actually living my dream. My dream client would definitely be the Olsen Sisters; I love their craziness and bohemian chic style. Who would you most like to see wearing your shoes? Audrey Hepburn. She’s my ideal icon. What’s the biggest fashion faux pas for shoes? Cutting the heel too low. Once you cut it, you lose the balance of the shoe. What can we expect to see in 2010? Shoe Madness!!!

There’s no business like shoe business!

There are names that remain unknown to the public at large even though they are responsible for some of the most visible contemporary creations. Such can be said of Italian Fabio Novembre who is credited for making the Bisazza brand the world leader in mosaic design. As the company’s Creative Director, Novembre has signed off on the bold and provocative interior designs that are showcased in Bisazza’s showrooms in New York and Milan. Many other works from Novembre became instant icons for Wallpaper and Frame magazine readers... One example being the huge red ribbon curls that swirl around to become seats at the Vittoria Hotel in Florence. Another, this time in a restaurant, has huge golden arms supporting a dark green dining room. That’s the Shu Café in Milan. Needless to say, the man is a maverick in the design world, refuting international convention in his unique approach to design. A film student by training, Fabio Novembre got into design when a Hong Kong Showroom commissioned him to do work for fashion designer Anna Molinari - a seminal experience that sparked his interest in exploring the bridges between cinema and architecture. With the theme for this issue of Bed Sheets being ‘body beautiful’, we thought the ‘Him & Her’ chair Novembre designed for Casamania, would be a bold choice. The chairs are a nod to the famous 1959 Panton chairs, that one can also find in the Bangkok Bed Supperclub. www.novembre.it 026

TRAX

BED RESIDENT DJ VINCENT

028

Attend | DJ Gregory – 2002

This tune epitomizes everything wonderful about house music, groove, depth, and good feeling. Great display of style from the Frenchman. This track is a must have!

SpectraRandom | Factor – 2007

As featured on the Bed Supperclub’s 'CUTS’ compilation CD, this track represents Bed in oh so many ways. Very contemporary yet there is a lot of soul packed into this little gem.

Cruel Intentions | Simian Mobile Disco feat Beth Ditto – 2009

Flamboyant pop with a new wave influence produced by the very trendy duo, I heard It on the radio while driving around Paris during a trip home last year. I fell in love with it immediately. A true anthem.

Freemind | DJ T - 2003

A very important track to me as it introduced me to this new style of German electro-house. A real floor filler, this melodic track quickly became a central song in my DJ set and still stands strong today.

Higher State of Consciousness | Josh Wink - 1995

I was living in England when this came out and ‘oh dear’ it was such a massive hit. Not for the faint hearted, and quite intense, this techno track is still a massive crowd pleaser. Get ready for take off!

Rock With You | Michael Jackson – 1979

Perhaps not as well known as some of the King of Pop’s other hits, this song really deserves another listen. It gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Sensual, funky and very inviting.

Magic Wand | Whodini – 1982

Early electro hip hop, I still like this song as much now as I did the first time I heard it when I was a kid.

Gazebo | Fairmont – 2006

What an enchanting melody! I first heard it when Felix Da House Cat played it in his set at Bed a few years ago. I remember it completely transformed the atmosphere of the club. Magnificent.

Drop it Like it’s Hot | Snoop Dogg - 2004

I am no hip hop expert but in my opinion this is pure class. As is often the case with the music I love, minimal is massive and less is more. It’s pure stripped down bling bling!

Passion | Gat Décor – 1992

Fat, groovy and uplifting. This stand-out track really takes you on a long and eventful journey. It’s got that incredible bass hook and just you wait till you hear the infectious piano riff. Classic house music at its best. 029

KING CHARLES

A A man man of of plentiful plentiful hair hair and and pedigree pedigree tunes, tunes, West West London’s London’s King King Charles Charles is is tipped tipped to be one one of of 2010’s 2010’s big big new new names. names. 031

" I hope that one day the things I have said will become clichĂŠs. "

032

Hello King Charles, how’s it going? I'm well, thank you. I'm spending most of my time doing all the things that a man should do, leaving little room for the things that matter. I'm doing some touring with the band and finishing records and producing some other stuff: all party, all bullshit.

The Guardian newspaper described you as ‘a dandy in the underworld, English psych-inflected pastoral whimsy’. Would you agree? I’m not entirely sure what that all means. Are we talking underworld Hades, or underworld some sort of mystical parallel world that is actually under the world where there is no sunlight and everyone wears blood. Red velvet capes and reads suicide poetry? I am certainly English but I can't vouch for being 'psych-inflected'. Perhaps fanciful though. It's better than being called a 'trustafarian'.

Your first gigs were in girl's schools across England. How was the response? Pretty jokes, they were all pretty young and not that interested; obviously I had a ball. I remember the best one was at Downe House for a charity fashion show; they were all a little more grown up.

We heard a story that you rescued a baby giraffe from the jaws of a jackal and were soaked in the venom of a spitting cobra. Is this just an over excited press agent? Well, not exactly but I don't know whether the words 'rescued' and 'soaked' are the most accurate. I've spent a lot of time in Africa and have a great passion for the animals there.

Tell us about your latest single ‘Love Lust’.

At school you were a classically trained It’s a love/lust song, inspired by a very interesting girl. So ho baby, Damara dik dik, the open road, traffic, cash, no cash, flesh, You once said that music was a good blood, King Charles.

way to take the edge off the cliché of the young poet. Does that still apply now How does it feel to know that your music that you’re successful? is reaching people on the other side of the world? Hmm, successful… I measure success in terms of whether the girl I'm in love with is in love with me. Is it? I want to be as successful as coca cola. The songs are still poems and I hope that one day the things I have said will become clichés. Is there anything that you can’t eat? Celery is rank and sushi never did it for me.

Mike Wong Bangkok’s new it-boy and Channel (V) VJ is living proof that beauty is sometimes more than skin deep. He reveals his passion for punk, parties and packing a punch. Words by Paul Hampshire | Photo by Hector Guzman

How’s it going? Great, I've been busy with a few new adventure programme in different provinces, freelance writing work, DJing... whatever comes my way. How long have you been living in Bangkok? I’ve been here about two years now. Growing up in California I became passionate about muay thai and I guess that sparked my interest in Thai culture. My original reason for coming here was to improve my muay thai skills. So how did you get from the boxing ring to the TV screen? I started teaching English to help pay the rent and from that I landed a modelling job and eventually started doing TV commercials. Do you enjoy being a VJ? Yes it’s the perfect profession to mix business with pleasure; I get paid to hang out with my mates and party. Who’s the scariest person you’ve interviewed? That’s got to be Ajaan Noo (aka Sompong Kanhphaiin - the tattoo master who inked Angelina Jolie). He was very stoic, made no eye contact, took ages to answer questions and when he did they were all one word answers. Tell us about your tattoos. Well the little red heart on my left arm was my first. I had it done on my 18th birthday. The other tattoos have developed through various experiences and people in my life, from friendship tattoos to ones influenced by poems/ lyrics. Each one has a story but not every story needs telling...haha. Did you clear it with your mum first? No, I believe it’s much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. What music are you into? I grew up with 70's and 80's British and American punk. I then moved to post-punk, hardcore punk and its countless sub-genres. Since I've been in Bangkok, I've been getting into indie and electro. Have you ever wanted to make music? Yes, I used to play bass/guitar in a hardcore band a long time ago and a violin when I was a kid, haha. I just recently started playing bass again, and will hopefully be playing some fun, Sonics-style rock 'n' roll soon enough. What makes the human body look more beautiful? Confidence. An interesting personality. Exercise... haha. Is there anything that you can’t eat? I was a strict vegan for eight years so at this point, I’ll eat anything.

ART

THAWEESAK SRITHONGDEE By Sanya Souvanna Phouma

Thaweesak ‘Lolay’ Srithongdee is a Silpakorn Master of Fine Arts graduate who shot to fame at the turn of the century with his numerous solo exhibitions outside Thailand. His paintings and drawings, depicting young and ambiguously seductive characters, were instantly recognisable. I was first attracted by the drawings he did for various Thai fashion magazines illustrating their editorial features. In 2002, I finally got to meet him in a cafe in Siam Centre. I was instantly charmed by his geniality and playful attitude. At the time, we were preparing to launch Bed Suppercub and I mentioned that the theme for the launch party was ‘Genesis’: Adam and Eve and Noah’s Ark etc.. The ensuing work (see opposite page) was done on gold cardboard. Lolay simply applied layers of acrylic paint to the gold surface. In his usual style, two very beautiful naked characters (possibly Adam and Eve) are standing hand in hand under a starry night. Whilst Eve is mysteriously gazing at something on the horizon, Adam clearly stares at the viewer. Both characters are nude but their genitals are hidden by a green leaf. Provocatively, Adam has green stains around his mouth and on his chin. It’s left to the viewer to conjecture why his face is green. The artwork was eventually used on Bed’s launch party invitation.Today, one can see Lolay’s work in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, opposite MBK centre. It’s a massive white character sitting on what looks like a white hollow pot obstructing the footpath. Not being able to get in touch with Lolay to get an explanation of the odd-looking sculpture (a humanoid sitting on a toilet), I asked one of the centre’s directors, who told me that they had commissioned Lolay to create something that could help tarnish the clean cut image of the building in the eyes of youngsters who may be over-impressed by the seriousness of what’s exhibited inside. So don’t be alarmed. 040

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK Joseph Thiery - Photographer www.josephthiery.com

042

Describe what you do and who you are in three sentences. Photography is not my passion, life is. Wherever I go, whatever I do, I try to live as fully as possible and share my passion for life. It could be lecturing at a university or working in a factory, it doesn't matter as long I'm contributing to make the world a better place to live in. What’s been your proudest moment so far? Hap p i ne ss a nd j oy wo u l d b e s t des c r i b e my fe e l i n g s b e ca u s e nothing really belongs to me and I'm only capturing moments. It’s not been confirmed yet but a phone call from the assistant curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Taipei about exhibiting my work sure brought on lots of good emotions and being selected as a finalist of the ‘Asian Geographic photo-Contest 2009’ was another good moment. Where could we usually find you taking photographs? Usually close by in the vicinity of where I live. Presently that’s Bangkok, in areas where people are not used to seeing foreigners. There are drawbacks though like last week when someone on a motorcycle snatched my bag and I lost two cameras but that’s a sad exception in an ocean of true moments. What’s your favourite quote? ‘It only takes a little light to dispel much darkness.’ Anonymous. This true fact can be applied to most situations. A genuine smile can get rid of suspicion, the right words can cure low self esteem and a small act of generosity can help heal deep wounds. Who or what would you most like to photograph? I never know when and what I'm going to photograph. Everything that happens around me is a potential subject. It could be because of a particular light, a group of people, a dead leaf in a pool of oil, anything that tells us something about our world. What’s the most beautiful thing that you have ever shot? That’s a difficult question because I always think my latest photographs are the most beautiful. But, if you made me choose I would pick my photograph of a puddle of water in the Himalayas, nearly 4000 meters high. You can almost feel the energy coming from it. 043

DJayBUDDAH & DJ ONO THE BANGKOK INVADERS 044

Who would play you in the biopic of your life? DJ ONO : Harold from Harold & Kumar, Folks say I look like him or the Asian guy from Disturbia. People say I look like him too. Personally I think I kind of do too but the difference is... I can’t act for shit!

What song sums up your life? DJayBUDDAH : 'The Good Life’ by Kanye West featuring T-Pain. We’re definitely living the good life right now, in terms of entertaining people around the world and showing them a good time. Also ‘No Stoppin Us’ by Thaitanium. We’re always on top of our game and always coming strong.

MONEY

Ok, here’s a mirror and a hairbrush - what song are you going to sing when no one’s looking? DJayBUDDAH : 'Would You Mind’ by Earth Wind and Fire. I just love that song.

What’s your top track of the month?

DJ ONO : ‘Empire State of Mind’ by Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys. Jay-Z has always been on top of his own rap game by coming up with new joints that maintain his elite status or even surpass his previous hits. His new album is definitely second to none.

Your apartment is on fire, you can save one record, what’s it going to be? DJ ONO : I would have to say my personalised signed vinyl by the one and only 'Nas'. In October 2008 we hosted the first ever Asian hip hop festival in Thailand. Nas headlined the show and we got to hang out with him.

What’s the best concert you have ever seen? DJ ONO : The ‘Up in Smoke’ tour. At the time West Coast music was definitely in its prime with Dr. Dre as the backbone to the whole scene. It was the summer of 2001 and I got hooked up to see the concert in my hometown Vancouver, Canada. Dre's new album ‘The Chronic’ was all over the airwaves. I grew up listening to Dre and a lot of West Coast music so I was really looking forward to catching the live show. The line up also included Eminem, Ice Cube, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Snoop Dogg and WC.

What nights do you spin at Bed ? With the Bangkok Invaders @ Pop Champagne Tuesdays

Finish this sentence – Bed Supperclub is….. the place to be...run Bkk bitches!! Ps : Thaitanium’s new album is out now !!!!! 045

Eventually, she is drawn to the repulsive but oddly mesmerizing Beast, who tests her faithfulness by giving her a key and the warning that if she doesn't return it to him by a specific time, he will die of heartache. Film Facts It took five hours for Jean Marais to put on his Beast make-up. The film features a musical score by Georges Auric. In 1995, composer Philip Glass composed an opera version. In its initial incarnation the musicians and singers would perform the work on stage with a restored, newly subtitled print of the film showing on a screen behind them. Often considered one of the finest fantasy films of all time, it inspired Disney's classic animated film 'Beauty and the Beast'. Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks bought some of the rights to the movie. Movie boiled down to 3 lines

How does £3.50 sound? Mental Designer's Graphic Designer Versus Just when you are watching TV or something you could put together some ideas...

Client melds the madness and patronizing megalomania of every bitch of a client you've ever met into one brutal assault on honest decency, undervaluing and disregarding the creative process and spitting in the face of professionalism with the common client insult of half-hearted familiarity.

Plane Stupid.

In spite of rising scepticism – specifically the exposure of the conspiracy behind the 'anthropogenic warming myth' – climate change propaganda is continuing to get stronger with agencies like Mother London creating hard-hitting commercials for the anti-aviation expansion group Plane Stupid featuring dead polar bears falling from the sky. And whether you buy into the stat that there are more bears now than in 19XX , if you think shorthaul flights are, er, a bare necessity then in my opinion you are plane stupid. Our earth needs looking after whether it's getting dangerously hot or not right now and filling the atmosphere with CO2 is never (ever) going to make the world a better place to live. Directed by Rattling Stick's Danny Kleinman. Via Brand Republic.

Downside up.

Thailand has long demonstrated true creative innovation in the fields of graphic, interior and product design but has, quite understandably, never been famed for its inventive use of English copy – not for want of trying – though the corner now might have been turned. Either error has played the mother of invention and a poor parking lot signage order (double the amount of 'up' signs needed and no 'downs') forced Bumrungrad hospital into a resourceful rethink, or the signs are part of a deliberate design choice with an intentional economy of words. Either way it's a playful inversion and a sign that the craft of copywriting is on the, er, up. Photography by Asit Prueangwet.

Obey the lure.

While the police mannequins that have popped up on Bangkok street corners over the past few months have not really posed a serious deterrent – as the boys in brown, in their last, permanent inactive posts, are far too easy to detect as being the dummies they are from a distance of even a block away – there is one theory that this is all part of a bigger, less innocuous ploy. Eventually, so familiar with seeing the plastic patrol cops all over town, Bangkok drivers may be lured into a false sense of security and naturally begin to speed by every intersection, confident that the only eyes upon them are resin; though the real police meanwhile may just take advantage of this lax attitude and reappear on duty, keeping as still as the dummies themselves (something that shouldn't prove too difficult for some considering their lack of manoeuvrability) thus catching out the lackadaisical motorists and fining them (all very fairly) on the spot. What's in the Mix? by Justin Dunne

The origin of the apéritif is a subject of much debate. Some say that the concept of drinking a small amount of alcohol before a meal dates back to the ancient Egyptians, while others argue that the aperitif first appeared in 1786 in Turin, when Antonio Benedetto Carpano invented vermouth. While you sit back and mull it over why not revive your body and tease your tastebuds with this tweaked out cocktail that is sure to get your muscles flexing and your tongue jogging. 1 oz Pimm’s Cup No. 1 1 oz Beefeater Gin 5 slices of fresh Ginger 3 oz chilled Ginger Ale In a shaker, add the Pimm’s No 1, gin, and ginger. Shake and strain over crushed ice. Top with chilled ginger ale. Garnish with orange wheel & cucumber slice.

PHUKET PEOPLE

Matthew Rogers aka Bob How come you settled in Phuket? I first came to the island in 2001 for R&R after working in the Borneo jungle. What was supposed to be five days, ended up being five weeks. I fell in love with the island, Thailand and my wife Yah. We now have two lovely kids (Miluna & Daniel) so all we need now is a dog. What changes have you noticed since you first moved there. The demographicof the island is changing from 50 -something retirees to upwardly mobile 20 and 30-somethings basing themselves on the island and working globally via email and Internet. These new residents and their guests need to be entertained and the recent boom in venues over the past three years is a sure sign of that change. Tell us about your company, Real Sound Thailand. RST was started by DJs for DJs. We deal mainly with sales & rental, service &

Installation of Pro DJ equipment and PA Sound & Light. We also offer DJ training & studio engineering courses as well as national and international DJ bookings. We also sell rare and collectable CD's & vinyl that’s hard to find in Thailand. What’s Phuket’s best kept secret? Big Bow and his Reggae Bar on Nai Harn Lake. What ’s your top track of the month? 'Funk Phenomena (Starkillers 2009 Remix)' by Armand Van Helden/Starkillers. It was such an amazing track when it first came out, now it’s back with a new twist but still super funky. It always has me jumping up and down in the DJ booth, haha. Would you rather play in the VIP room or the main room? I really enjoy playing to big crowds when they are dancing like crazy but sometimes a small VIP room with people who are more into "nonhits" music is also a great buzz. Do you DJ with CD, vinyl or computer? When I first started spinning I used vinyl and spent all my cash on new tracks. Then CDs came along followed by downloadable mp3s. This Christmas I finally installed Traktor DJ software on my laptop. It's going to be grand not having to flip through hundreds of CDs looking for tracks.

What album is currently hogging your mp3 player? It's mostly stuff that I can’t play when I DJ out. Foo Fighters, Krafty Kuts, Royksopp, the soundtrack from High School Musical...haha, just kidding. What would be your dream gig? Don’t get me wrong, Dimitri from Paris is great but it's time he stepped aside and let me take over at the Playboy Mansion. The first ever party on the moon would also be thrilling but I guess that because of the vacuum in space it would have to be a ‘silent disco’ where everyone wore headphones. So I’ll go for the gig where people are wearing bunny ears.

Phuket's club scene – Past & Present ...your thoughts? In the past there wasn’t much to write home about. There were a few clubs but none catered to discerning music-lovers, only drunk tourists. I heard 'Basshunter' more times in a year than anyone should ever have to endure in their What’s the strangest record request lifetime. Now there’s much more choice if one wants to hear good music and not be bothered you’ve ever had? A Russian girl once asked for ABBA when I was by bar girls and touts. in the middle of a mad electro-house set. But the weirdest one by far was when an old guy in Finish this sentence – Sound Phuket is… a leather jacket came up on ladies night when possibly the most gorgeous venue that I have the dancefloor was packed with people dancing ever seen and by far the best place to party late to hip hop asked me to play AC/DC. I was like in Phuket. looking around for hidden cameras, convinced Catch DJ Tommyboy @ Sound Phuket it was a prank on some TV show. every Monday at "Mix It Up" How do you chill out in Phuket? Phuket has one major advantage over Bangkok, it’s only a few minutes from the beach. A cold beer on the beach with friends at sunset makes me feel that everything in the world is ok. 066

FEDOR LIMJOCO RETURNS TO BED SUPPERCLUB

Inspired by DJ greats, Grant Nelson and Erick E, Fedor’s love for house music was born just over 10 years ago when he was hanging out in Holland’s hippest clubs. He mastered his craft by spinning at parties on the country’s southern beaches. Hundreds of parties later and he’s played to packed dancefloors in some the world's coolest clubs like Blue Marlin (Ibiza/Spain), Club Heat (Russia), Moef Gaga (Spain) and Club NL (Amsterdam). These days Fedor’s style is a touch more soulful and inspired by Latin sounds.

CHUCKIE ‘I'M IN MIAMI B**CH!’ Chuckie took the dance world by storm last year, beating nominees Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren to win 'best dance act' at the Dutch TMF awards. His single 'Let The Bass Kick in Miami, B**ch!' was the crossover dance smash of 2009. A-listed on the world’s top radio stations, the music video was played heavily on MTV worldwide... not since Benny Benassi's 'Satisfaction' has a club track blown up in such a big way. Part of Chuckie's huge appeal is that he blends elements of hip hop into his predominantly club electro style. David Guetta who’s tipped Chuckie to be the next big thing says, "I discovered this Dutch DJ in Amsterdam. He is mixing the hip hop vibe with house music like no one else!"

ALL ABOUT

BED Frequently Asked Questions

So, are you finally getting around to renovating this year? Yes! But before we get into that let's talk about the stunning ‘artistic renovations’ that we unveiled just before Xmas. These include new projectors in the restaurant and bar, an incredible new interactive projector on the front restaurant window, an entire new set of LED lights to replace the more simplistic fluorescent lights (our new ones are more earth friendly too!). We also ripped out and redesigned the lobby, added a few video screens and an uber-cool new reception desk. Phew! But that’s just the start…. We’re tentatively planning on closing a month in July, for even bigger and more spectacular renovations. So what else is new in Bed? We’ve also been busy in cyberspace making modifications to our websites www.bedsupperclub.com and www.bedsheetsmagazine. com. Both have been fully upgraded, are much easier to access and way speedier. Anything else? Why yes, (cue big drum roll) …. The first ever Bed CD is now available. The CD features two of our resident DJs, Saint Vincent and Fred Jungo. The double CD provides the perfect backdrop for any mood: the chillout CD will have you laid back with your feet up, while the pumping house CD will get you jumping around. Pick up your copy from any of the reception, merchandise, or server staff (990 baht). Ooh la la, what’s this we hear about a Bed Supperclub in Paris.. is this true? Indeed it is. Details are still coming as our magazine goes to print but yes, there is now a Bed Supperclub, Paris. Get the latest info on our website and yes, the same people behind Bed Supperclub, Bangkok are also behind Bed Supperclub, Paris.
