A colossal architrave, in subtly veined icewhite synthetic stone, stands majestically at the Reception Area. Its radiating configuration emphasizes the double volume ceiling as it fans out in interestingly dynamic formations. The ceiling beyond outwardly connects the areas in cognizant behavior. A sea of polished marble floors dominates the space creating an impression of vastness. The slatted reception counter with its towering over-sized table lamp nicely contrasts the perfect symmetry of vertical and horizontal elements. Dimmed indirect lighting peep through light troughs within the architrave, again echoing the glows emitted from the stepped ceiling panels. Upon entering the Reception Area guests are treated to a scenic view of the landscape through full height glass doors and windows beyond.

A feasting site of water features and circular stencil-cut metal bollards adorn the porch that leads to the Reception Area. Contributing to the general character of Zen, the gently trickling waters fall smoothly on the pond surface generating concentric ebbing waves. Plantings and small trees jut out of the hardscape dramatizing the path to the clubhouse. Play of lines remains evident throughout the facility manifested in horizontal reveals seen on the stone walls and diagonal lines dominantly displayed in the monolithic architraves and this one of a kind sculptural bench. The trapezoidal lamp shade and geometric wooden seat makes what it takes for a picture perfect minimal furniture setting as it basks in the natural sunlight seeping through the full height architectural windows.

Splendor suspended in mid-air is an astounding characteristic of the multi-spokes metal sculpture as it valiantly hangs over this immense seating area. Its massive weight is structurally secured to the tinted mirror clad ceiling that tends to exaggerate the double volume of the room. Light troughs emit dim glows of indirect lighting contributing to the marvelous decorative element that is not only visible at the Reception Area but also from the level above. Guests will marvel at the minimal furniture arrangement that draws attention more on the interior architecture of linear character, fully glazed picture windows, reflective surfaces and generously endowed open spaces and lofty ceilings.

The treads and under portions of the stairs are impossible to tell apart hence playing with perception. The continuous steps fold into each other terminating into a passive reflecting pool of deep grey and ivory mosaic glass tiles. Underwater up lights create linear demarcations of imaginary grids casting shadows on the walls and landing soffits. 012

In consistence with the prominent stepped ceiling, needless to say, the Indoor Swimming pool stretches out in full splendor beneath a sturdy metal ceiling of the same motif. Special consideration to humidity has lead to the selection of special powder coated metal ceiling without compromising the aesthetic shape echoed throughout the clubhouse. Like a glass box displaying the luscious landscaped areas beyond, the pool area is designed with ample pool side space for fashionable recliners in waterproof cushions on hardwood and corrosionfree metal. Repetitive metal architraves are poised at one end of the area while back lit alabaster pillars stand highly like gigantic beacons. Shadows caught between curvilinear light troughs and multi-level ceiling planes add to the nonchalant atmosphere told throughout the area. Bronze and wood become perfect partners for this warm abode with interesting plays of surface textures and forms. The laminated glass panels play up the architectural windows allowing full visibility of the surrounding landscape and yet restricting the inflow of direct sunlight. The superb blend of warm grey and beige spectrum is soothing to the eyes and conveys an aura of calmness. Typified by the fluted stone counter against wooden slats backdrops the contrasting forms and colors amplify the variety in materials vis a vis hues. 044

046

Cubic and yet puffy lounge chairs in two toned upholstery create a variety of shades of beige. Delicately positioned over a chocolate brown area rug embellished with swirling ebb-like patterns the composition adds up to the tranquil experience that prevails. Quite obvious and noticeable is the dramatic way that towering entrance portico juts through the lower ceiling, interestingly displaying a deconstructive design slant. In union with the swirling lines, needless to say, the grand staircase curves upward to the second floor like a bride’s veil cascading through a labyrinth of varying natural stone shades and textures unhampered through clear glass railings.

048

The spectacular suspension lights hang from the ceiling delivering character and making emphasis on the linear soffit. Enormous wall lamps flank the hallways in parallel formation offering a vista of symmetry and equilibrium. The stone clad columns extend to drop ceiling portions of tinted mirror surfaces and wood veneered sidings. Its geometric character is undoubtedly an awesome sight. The massive agglomeration of stone, glass and metal simulates a gemstone truncating its way vertically. A composition of triangular clear glass rods hemmed together by a stainless steel spine swirls downward the center of the stairwell.

The extremely long chandelier hanging through the center mimics falling water and emits a sensation of dynamism and movement. Light troughs follow the under portions and sides of the stairs therefore accentuating its path. The side walls along the stairwell are lined with vertical greenery providing a soothing transition as guests alight or descend the stairs. 060

In an attempt to keep consistent with both areas the furniture selection hinged on a resort mood of woven PVC with cozy loose cushions and accent pillows. A variation of styles is evident however harmoniously akin in forms. Likewise the concept of tangled stainless steel threads is carried over with the pendants floating over the sofas in clear glass boxes with metal trims. The floor lamps playfully take the same form as the pendant lamps assimilating the square-ish nature of furniture prevalent around the clubhouse. Sisal area rugs contribute to the semi-rugged ambiance coupled with an inner extended deck floor.

A generous display of etched mirrors clad the walls allowing a double depth impression of the space. It echoes the semi-formal furniture arrangement featuring a very long communal dining table, the seating area and full glass windows on the opposite side. The clean sleek linear furniture trends perfectly blend with the fine and crisp textures and patterns of the wall stones and carpet.

In cognizance with the decorative lightings of twined metal treads and mini LED light bulbs, the rectangular pendant lights hover above the lengthy dining table. Most surfaces are consistently reflective allowing an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. 064

066

Next to the posh dining area are special rooms for billiards, karaoke and movie watching. The etched mirror patterns continue into these areas especially matched with padded vinyl panels in random linear divisions. A stylish billiard table takes the center of the room and somehow coordinates well with the reflective walls. A stylized billiard light echoed the linear patterns. The same features are evident in the Karaoke Room where the ultimate experience of recreation can be achieved. Fully upholstered furniture and wall to wall carpeting take care of the required acoustics. A spacious Mini Theatre can be availed of with the luxury of sound absorbing materials and sophisticated audio-video equipment.

Before guests reach the Spa they are lead through this tranquil and serene pathway of white sand with carved ebbing patterns and travertine stepping stones. Prominently leading the flow is a lighted panel of laminated bamboo twigs between thin sheets of acrylic encased in metallic frames. The organic portal takes the center wall and creep up to the ceiling and mirroring the path beneath. Wood veneered wall panels line the walls with stainless steel trims breaking the monotones of beige and brown.

At times when guests would simply want a tan, they can readily get it as they lay safely inside the high tech tanning machine in the Solarium. The atmosphere of restfulness hovers over guests who may avail of a body massage and other pampering treatments provided for in this spa. Floors are spread with wooden planks giving that total spa experience. Lights are intentionally warm and indirect so as not to glare visitors as they are lying down. Laminated glass partitions echo the organic panels seen in the pathway. 068

070

A row of treadmills, steppers and stationary bikes line up against the scenic windows providing guests a perfect view of the beautiful landscape outside. A refreshing site is fuel to gym rats who want to go beyond their speed and time goals. The Gym is packed with brand new equipment needless to say good quality resilient floor and wall finishes required for a total fitness center experience. Carpeted floors are utilized for traction. Mirrors aid in making the narrow room look wider.

Padded walls, the right sports floor and proper lighting are important factors to consider when designing ball courts. This multi-function court epitomizes the courts of all courts with its grand space and lofty height.

Egg-like benches take the stage in this circular ante room. The same cloud shaped pendant light hovers mysteriously above giving its signature glow and emphasizing the concentric ceiling. Beyond the glass doors is the Kid’s Play Area where the toddlers of the family can play and socialize. Specially designed kid’s soft play accessories are scattered around the carpet floors. A tinge of pink and purple lighting cover the entire area making children fantasize of their favorite dreamlands. Cartoon characters and child like landscapes surround the space in playful colors. For those who prefer to see a film in private ambiance, this Mini Theatre is perfectly designed with state of the art systems. Carpeted floors in monochromatic shades of beige and brown were meant to match well with the colors of the fully upholstered sofa, chaise lounge and easy chairs. Accent cushions in bold and loud contrasting colors play as a break in the color uniformity passed throughout the room. The walls too, in beige, are highlighted with indirectly glowing trough lights emanating from behind acoustically slanted walls. Recessed down lights are meant to diffuse as they tend to disappear into the woody background when lights are dimmed. Perforated sound absorbing boards with built-in felt backings are intentionally used to buff the sound.

In complementary course, the interiors employ a modern twist of neo-colonial influence. A general feeling of freshness in youth dominates the inner spaces. With a rich history of Japanese influence, Changchun, the capital of Jilin province abounds in numerous ancestral colonial structures. It was once part of Manchukuo, then a Japanese state occupying the Northeast region of China. The compact cityscape is rich in open avenues and public squares as an indication of Japanese city planning. Remnants of colonial building still line the streets similar to this clubhouse with barrel vaults, intricate transom details, molded panels that form part of its architectural features. In complementary course the interiors employ a modern twist of neo-colonial influence. A general feeling of freshness and youth dominates the inner spaces. As orderly as the Japanese city plans the Changchun Clubhouse spatial forms and interior design concept apparently dwells upon an immensely structured floor plan of squared or trapezoidal spaces with exception to the tapering grand staircase accentuated in the Reception Area.

From the outside the clubhouse seems like a colonial bungalow. Astonishment fills the senses after realizing that when further explored there is more than meets the eye. When standing at the entrance porch a spacious envelope reveals a prominent vaulted ceiling decorated with a brilliantly lighted sculpture soaring over the stairwell like a phoenix in flight. The arched window fits perfectly into the space shaped by the vaulted ceiling with its stepped light troughs and reversed corbels. Radiating from the ceiling are layered panels of stone rushing downward thus suggesting direction. These vertical panels are neutralized by horizontal fins jutting out in random slants, allowing snippets of the outside tree formations. To assure a better vista of the outdoor landscape clerestory windows flank the stairs giving natural sunlight. The journey towards the basement is that of exhilarating pleasure and anticipation of what lies beyond the passageway. Glass railings are a featured characteristic of the floating trapezoidal stair. Risers are clad in mirror adding a mystery of depth.

Waterproof down lights are spread throughout the ceiling allowing a uniform distribution of comfortable illumination. Lounge furniture are provided on the pool side with waterproof upholstery on a woven PVC framework. After a day’s swim guests can retreat to the Changing Room where Sauna and Steam Bath facilities are available. Coordinated stone colors and mixes of mirrors and wood veneer are a few of the materials used for this area. Basin type lavatories and wall mounted taps under delicately framed vanity mirrors are a wonderfully composed. The walk through the corridors in this clubhouse is an exhilarating experience of geometric shapes. Irregularly shaped dropped ceilings enhanced with back lighting, etched mirror panels in jagged patterns, linear veined stones and brilliant wall sconces are part of a symphony of artistic penchant for clubhouse appreciation.

White linen and chairs are matched to comprise the dining table furniture. Chairs are purposely upholstered in vinyl for easy maintenance. Fine tableware is selected to match well with the pallet and motif. Towering flower arrangements in bold rust colors and lay highlighted under an elegantly crafted chandelier of clear crystal tubes suspended with nickel cable from a polished stainless steel plate. Down lights emit a warm glow against the crystals creating some mystifying radiance. Subtle colors comprise the broadloom carpet making it a perfect field for the toned down furniture colors. To add some depth to the room black mirror is considered making the furniture stand out against it. Wood veneer with stainless steel strips adhere to the soft elegance that makes up the general ambiance of the Multi-Function Room.

In the Reading Room a consonance with the trapezoidal trend exists with the book case of slanted partitions housing a wide selection of books, magazines and decorative vases. Dark mirrors line the shelves giving an elegant flush as the warm white lights rebound playfully on them. Some indirect back lighting also contributes to depth and provides interesting niches of written knowledge. In soldier formation, the lounge chairs and floor lamps are symmetrically lined up giving that impression of order and peace.

Linear pendant lights hang parallel to the carpet pattern following the stone grains that are common to walls and floor. The dropped ceiling panels that seem to continue from the bookcase face serves as a one legged arch cantilevered from the walls. A row of treadmills and steppers are positioned facing the full length mirror where guest going about their daily cardio routine wonder at the reflected view of gardens and gym equipment. A doubling illusion of space is achieved by the said mirrors making the long narrow Gym look wider. It is somewhat a rule that carpet patterns in the Gym produce a mood of vigor. The seemingly embossed cobble stone patterns beautifully spread out throughout the room giving an impression of welcomed unevenness. Its non slip qualities are perfect for safety and comfort. Full panes windows on the other side expose the lush vegetation beyond aside from the adjoining pool structure that amusingly appends the building. To eliminate the stress, a TV is also installed at one end of the room for general viewing. Lighting plays an important role in Gym design as it should not be too bright nor too cozy. Applying indirect light troughs satisfy illumination purposes giving style and variation from the usual. Down lights are carefully selected so that their beams spread out in even angles without providing dark spots. There is a Yoga/Aerobics room for the athletic breed that prefers to do floor exercises rather than succumb to mechanized work out. Wooden floors are employed where floor exercises will take place. The selections of variegated random strips of timber exude a feel of opulence. Its resilience is important for plunging or jumping motions such that the floors absorbs the weight, depresses and then springs back into position. Once again the half arch dramatized with diffused lighting is a beautifying attribute for this Yoga/Aerobics room. Its illumination is complemented with a one sided light trough, simple and yet functionally conclusive. Full height mirrors allow the yoga participants to see themselves and the others while comparing proper stance and posture. Semi-see-though laminated glass buffers sunlight when it peeps through the glazed architectural doors and windows facing the landscape.

A game of Mah Jong is also a form of relaxation. In fact it is said that regular games of this sort prevents memory failure. Gone are the days of manually mixing the marble chips with circular arm motion. An automatic Mah Jong table does all of that. The quartet of players experiences a less tiring game with more chit chat. Side table are provided for drinks perhaps and snacks. Sound proof and acoustical wall panels and carpets are essential. A modern clear glass mushroom like pendant light replaces the floor type lamp. A long console table is positioned behind one player and is intended for bags and other personal effects. Of course relieving sight of a lovely artwork always does the job when eyes start to strain during a long game.

Billiards will always be a popular game for young and old. This professional billiard table in finely crafted woodworks and smoothly upholstered felt top is simply perfect for a soothing game of eight ball. Because movement around the table is necessary, a couple of lounge chairs and side tables are the only furniture pieces aside from the table. Stylized lights are hung over the game are so that adequate lighting is achieved. 216

There are many ways to relax a tired mind. Curling up on a cozy sofa with or without the company of family and acquaintances is one perfect solution to boredom from the everyday crunch. Sofas are poised face to face to encourage wonderful conversation and interaction. Mirror stainless steel accentuates the sofa providing it with sophistication and style. Chunky coffee tables clad in stone dominate the center of the seating arrangement and delightfully complementing the field of yarns. Pillar candles nicely sit in clear glass cylinders adding height to the central arrangement. Matched side and sofa back table in clear tempered glass tops and mirror stainless steel legs dot the area exuding a sense of uniformity. An alternative to food is a good refreshing drink. The full service Juice Bar is complete with the most high tech coffee maker and juicer. It is situated at the end of the hall and is easily visible from the stairway and through the sofas in parallel arrangement. Mirror backdrops line the wall allowing an illusion of depth and space interspersed with wood veneer panels.
