緣起緣聚

序

「從淺月灣開始⋯⋯」力源自對概念的欣賞。地產發展商邀請室內設計師作新樓的設計示範，已是司空見慣的事；一則是美化的手段，二則可使參觀示範者洞悉空間的發展潛力，三則有助普及大眾的設計意識。淺月灣的設計概念乃由此而展，廣邀國際著名的室內設計師，為數十幢洋房作設計示範，以大規模地演示空間的新生力。

歷經淺月灣之訪，步踏一眾設計示範，真是一睹一驚喜。這亦是構思作一本設計專集的起念。

「士柏山的延續⋯⋯」士柏山與淺月灣所處的位置，雖有市郊之別，可是理念卻貫徹秉持。一眾著名的室內設計師就環境本質為先決考慮，並就終極所要達致的氣氛而著力，最終構成瑰美的整體感官。眾設計師為「皇」、「豪」訂立新義，透過傳統、現代或新舊相融的意念，標示無限的可能與空間的多元。

尋訪於士柏山，自有新的感受。本質優勝固是成就的先決，後繼的畫龍點睛，就更相得益彰。這是構思作一本設計專集的肯定。

「實踐於比華利山別墅⋯⋯」設計的健力士。比華利山別墅展出近70所設計示範，堪稱設計博覽。從源起的建築創建，至設計的推衍，到最終的結構落成，是一次信心的理想實戰。貫徹一份對建築、對設計、對人的信心，構現出的偉大工程。出版概念如出一轍。重視概念的更新、製作的熱切，致上誠意可嘉的稱許。比華利山別墅的室內設計專集，緣聚貝思出版與基兆業地產代理有限公司，促成是次出版合作。

現代社會逐漸遺忘的，是商業行為及事件背後蘊藏的細膩心思，那種不計時間的細心琢磨，使人倍覺珍貴。

「設計⋯⋯」設計師一直在思考著，如何在現代所建立的同質形式環境中，尋找另一種變異的樂趣和可能；在空間的實體與虛透之間，光與影之間尋求對比的美感。有機會進入能突顯個人風格或發揮某種思想的空間時，定會感受到空間的張力。原屬中的空間會蛻變成真正的人文生活。

Preface Starting from Casa Marina

Putting into Practice - The Beverly Hills

It is the admiration and respect for the originality of ideas that inspired and motivated this project.

It is a celebration of design.

It has become common for land development companies to invite interior designers to design model flats. On one level, it helps to show the strengths of a space and provides visitors a vision of the potential of the space. On another level, it helps to enhance the public's awareness as well as appreciation for design issues. A group of distinguished international designers were invited to design model houses for Casa Marina. The result was a large-scale exhibition of our new design force. Those model designs were full of delightful surprises, and this was where the concept of this book originated.

What King's Park Hill Inherited King's Park Hill, situated in an urban district, is different from Casa Marina in terms of its geographical environment, but it embodies the same ideals. The indigenous features themselves were considered the key factor when deciding what final atmosphere was to be achieved. Working with this view in mind, the designers involved constructed a place of graceful elegance and redefined the notion of "deluxe and grand living". Through the mixing of traditional and modern design elements, they opened up diversity and new possibilities for interior space. The King's Park Hill experience brought insight. Indigenous qualities are certainly essential for success. But elaborations that bring a place to life are just as important. The success of King's Park Hill is another affirmation for the ideal of this book.

The "model house project" of The Beverly Hills became a gallery of interior design. In this design expo, about 70 model designs are exhibited. From the building of the architecture, through the articulation of the interiors, to the final stage, the whole process has been a challenge of faith. It is a faith in architecture, design and ultimately in people, that makes this project possible. This book holds the same faith. This faith values ever-evolving concepts, a passion for creative activities and sincerity. The quality of The Beverly Hills itself is the motivation behind this joint publishing project with Henderson Real Estate Agency Ltd. What we have gradually forgotten in modern society is the thoughtfulness and sincerity hidden behind commercial activity and products. The commitment involved is precious.

About design These are the questions that a modern designer always has in mind: How to achieve differences and explore new possibilities in the homogeneous environment modernity has built? How, through balance and contrast between substance and the abstract, illumination and shadow, can aesthetics be achieved? When one enters a space that allows individual style or carries a certain ideology, one feels the tension in the space. 前言人類歷經時代的變遷，思想模式的轉變，變化可在建築中體現。建築是朝代的烙印，具有時代的內涵。一所建築標誌著的，不僅是其所處的地理位置，亦直接反映一時一地的文化意義。隨著世界資訊的大同，熔爐將地區的界別熱烤得逐步縮小。從建築概念，以至結構模式，也步進互融的境地。通過環境、場景、建築、燈光⋯⋯等影像構成，可將國度轉移，建構本土的異國風情。

在文化潮流的領導下，主題建築成了現實的新觀。美國拉斯維加斯誠然是主題建築的大觀園︰地中海式的建築群、古羅馬式的雕塑、金字塔式的神秘、威尼斯式的浪漫風情⋯⋯熱烘烘的匯聚成世界縮影。虛擬影像所建立的真實，乃擇取至美的標誌，賦以深刻的描畫，編製如幻如真的場區。類近時間空間的錯位，造成視像的虛擬，使人的想望獲得滿足。

主題建築標誌著全球化的格調。一地的主題確立，取決於氣候、地理、環境、文化，以及最終所要形成的生活模式等因素影響。「比華利山別墅」就是建基於其所在處的地理優勢及四周環境︰白藍的晴空相映，朗照延綿；湛藍的水、光交融，閃閃爍爍；柔和色調的小屋仿如星羅棋佈；以其獨特的方式，關注人與建築群、人與自然、人與生活、生活與環境的關係，另闢一種新的生活體驗、價值導向。

「天時」、「地利」、「人和」是優勝的必然條件。「比華利山別墅」位於大埔吐露港灣畔，獨擁怡人美景，已盡據先機。先天之態固然重要，人為之助也具有一定意義。首以建築而論，群屋以層排並列式興建，向高而展，居高臨下盡覽吐露港、船灣海、船灣淡水湖及八仙嶺的海光山色。層房相鄰的建築樣式，使各戶間關係互融熾熱，滲溢輕鬆渡假式氛圍。再就設計而論，室內間隔平穩方正，空間實用寬廣；廣邀國際知名的室內設計師施以妙手，將空間個盡展。

設計是一種潛藏力量，將內在無形的透過外在形式，表達豐富的思想內容。一群室內設計師抱持著自身的一套設計哲學，為空間賦予新義。設計意念︰有的以大自然環境取材，有的以時代作背景，有的以國家或地方色彩作理念，有的以概念為根予以引申，有的⋯⋯。一切皆源於設計的無止。

「比華利山別墅」所表呈的已不只是講求建築設計的藝術，進而是獨特理念及集體想像的體現。

Introduction As humanity has gone through changes of time, it has also gone through changes in ways of thinking. The evolution of architecture reflects these changes. Architecture marks a time and embodies the characteristics of an age. A work of architecture shows not only its geographical substance but also the cultural significance of a given time and place. In our time of information exchange and globalization, regional boundaries are dissolving. The styles of both architectural concepts and the structures they produce are fusing. Through manipulation of elements like the environment, the setting, design and lighting, a local spot can be transformed into an exotic location.

In this cultural context, theme architecture has become an aspect of our reality. Las Vegas, where theme architecture blossoms, is truly a land of the spectacular. Building complexes in a Mediterranean style combine with Roman statues and mystical pyramids to create a magical built landscape.

Theme architecture marks a significant aspect of globalization. The choosing of a theme depends on factors like, climate, physical environment, culture and most importantly, an ideal way of living. The Beverly Hills, built upon its geographical advantages, matches in harmony with the surroundings of sky and water merging into tranquil blue, infinite sunshine sprinkling the ocean with twinkling sparkles, and little houses in velvety color intersperse along the coast. In its unique way, The Beverly Hills shows a humanistic concern for both interpersonal and human/nature relationships. It explores new experiences of life and new values.

Indigenous advantages, endowed environment and harmonious human factors are the key elements for success. Lying along a bay of Tolo Harbour, surrounded by enchanting nature, The Beverly Hills is both gifted by nature and articulated by human intelligence. In terms of architecture, the complex, built in rows and tiers, allows a horizontal extension that embraces the scenery of Tolo Harbour, Sheun Wan Harbour, Plover Cove and Pat Sin Leng. Houses are arranged neighboring each other, facilitating the formation of a friendly neighborhood and creating a resort-like, relaxing atmosphere. In terms of design, the interiors are spacious and square. Elaborated by distinguished international designers, these spaces possess their own unique characters.

Design is a latent force. It externalizes the formless and the internal, expresses rich ideas and concepts. Designers involved in this project all hold individual design philosophies, with which they define the spaces. Some of the design concepts are inspired by the natural environment, some use our times as a background. Some are abstracted from ethnic characteristics and some are interpretations of the abstract. They are infinitely creative.

What The Beverly Hills expresses is not simply the art of architectural design. It is an actualization of unique thinking and collective imagination.
