Circulation Studies Individuals must go walk to either end of the market to get to the opposite side. Needs a middle opening for more efficient circulation.

Gives a more organic flow to the boxed shaped floor plan, but circulation is still blocked by community area.

Provides limited access to vendors because of layout of the building

Allows for an open circulation for individuals to choose freely what area they want to go to. By placing a path through the community area shoppers can easily access all the vendors without traveling on a forced circulation path.

Puts the community at the core of the space by placing focus on community and allows vendors to engage with individuals using the space.

Victory Garden

Victory Garden: The Victory Garden concept originated during World War I & II to encourage communities and towns to grow their own produce. By re-inventing this idea the Market’s Victory Garden will be a learning tool for schools to teach children how to grow their own food. The Market’s cafe and restaurant will also utilize the produce grown for their seasonal menus.

Concept: Learn & Live + Community The concept for this project is the idea of learning valuable ideas while at the market from vendors, the community, and each other, then, going out and living a healthier life based on the knowledge and experience one gains while at the market.
