MAY 2022 ISSUE
Message Hey, Bellflower Key Club!!! Please excuse my excessive use of exclamation marks, but I’m so excited for the new term. My name is Emily Velasquez, and I am honored to serve as your Historian for the term of 2022/2023! This year I am a sophomore. I have been a general member for the past two terms, and this term is my first as an officer. I had such an amazing experience, and I hope for that again. I am so excited to make memories and get to know you all better! Some random facts about me: I love listening to music!!! Recently, I have been listening to a lot of R&B, and I love Kpop. My top 5 artists of the last 6 months are BTS, The NBHD, TXT, Umi, and Red Velvet. My favorite colors are blue, gray, and green (purple too...). I used to watch a lot of TV and anime, but now I mostly read. Anyway thank you for reading and please enjoy the rest of the newsletter!

For the past few weeks, Bellflower Key Club has been working with Mrs. Scipio to set up a thrift store on campus. I and other Key Club members had the opportunity to acquire up to eight service hours by folding and hanging clothes, designing posters, logos, and organizing the room. This thrift shop will allow students to obtain thrifted clothes for as little as one dollar. This has been a great activity to start off the term because we’ve been able to bond, work together, and make memories already. -Alena Jaramillo 8

Campus Clean Up!
On Tuesday, May 10th, Bellflower Key Club hosted a campus clean up in order to make our community a cleaner environment in honor of Earth Day. Members could earn up to an hour and 20 minutes of service hours as the event was held after school from 3:40pm to 5:00pm. Our members worked diligently throughout the event and were able to bond with one another while helping.

During the middle of April, Bellflower Key Club attended an Earth Day servathon hosted on the division level. We had the opportunity to make posters to help raise awareness to environmental issues alongside with members from different schools. Another service opportunity that was offered was making a video to help promote the importance of taking action now and helping your environment. Overall, we had 7 attendees who helped make a really creative and resourceful poster to help raise awareness on the importance of recycling. -Adamaris Del Villar

Aprild13nDCM
Towards the end of April, Division 13 North hosted their first DCM for the 2022-2023 term. Though Bellflower Key Club was just a small group, we’re sure we made our presence known! Not only that, we’re able to paint fun little inspirational quotes on rocks, and place them around the Don Knabe Regional Community Park!! It was a wonderful fun way to start of the term! -Italy Escobar Dubon
