THE LONG JUMP Difficulty: Moderately Easy The long jump is one of the most important disciplines of track and field. Athletes try to jump as far as possible from the take-off point. Is it easy? Here are some rules you have to obey.

1. Mind the take-off line. Your toe or your foot mustn’t cross this line. If you cross the line, you get a foul. 3 fouls and you are disqualified from the competition.

2. Fly through the air. Don’t touch the ground between the take-off line and where you land in the sand. If you trip or fall, you will receive a foul.

3. Walk forward When you land in the sand, walk forward. If you move back through the pit, you are disqualified.

4 Fall forward The jump is measured from the part of your body that hits the sand closest or nearest to the take-off line. Fall forward to maximize your distance

5. Watch your fouls 3 fouls and you are disqualified. Sometimes, they limit this number to 2 fouls
