Gearing Up for the 5th Annual Wasaga Film Festival WASAGA BEACH - August 10th - Excitement is in the air for the upcoming 5th Annual Wasaga Film Festival (WFF). A new revamped marketing approach and website reflecting the growth of the annual film festival. We have expanded our regional footprint to South Georgian Bay. We have put the Wasaga Film Festival (WFF) on the map! We are now listed on the Canadian Film Festival List, acknowledged by Simcoe County and RT07 Tourism and have partnered with REEL Canada as a contributor. On April 29th, 2015 WFF participated in bringing to our community National Canadian Day in partnership with Waterside Retirement Lodge, Mountain Goat Film Company and REEL Canada. We featured our 4th Annual Wasaga Film Festival Platinum Award Winner Entries as well as a special documentary presentation film of "Behind The Red Carpet - TIFF" from our local film director, editor and producer, Tom Strnad of Mountain Goat Film Company. We have created additional categories such as Young Film/Video Maker (ages 1017) and Animation to appeal to mainstream film enthusiasts and attract more visitors to our area. Expect to see more training provided for filmmakers in our area that will be hosted by the WFF in the near future with award film companies. Our goal is to attract film trainees that will bring their families to our area to enjoy the attractions while they take part in film training activities. In our efforts to lay roots, we have embarked on incorporating a non-profit charitable organization that will not only support the Wasaga Film Festival but open opportunities to develop a home for the film festival and other arts and cultural groups in our community. The new incorporated entity will support the arts across the South Georgian Bay region while helping to develop the art community in Wasaga Beach thrive in film, dance, art, music, theatre and all art forms encompassing the performing arts.
One of its key goals will also be to attract visitors from across the world to attend events and attractions held by the centre to bolster the local tourism industry and the local economy.
