Denise Potter Heads Chamber
Pictured Wednesday at the Annual General Meeting of the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce from left: Susan Irvine, Mark Bannerman and Denise Potter. President Mark Bannerman officially stepped down from his position and welcomed Vice-President Denise Potter to the position of President. As a result of a change of location for Mark's position with TD Canada Trust, he felt the need to step down. There was a full house in the Board Room as Denise was sworn in as the new President and took the oath with Mayor Cal Patterson at her side. Also sworn in was Susan Irvine as Vice-President of the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce. Beach BOOSTER welcomes Denise and Susan to their new positions and we look forward to working closely with them and the rest of The Chamber! We also wish Mark success in his new location and know that he will still be active in The Chamber and Wasaga Beach as Past President of The Chamber.
Rebecca Stephens of Wasaga Beach Needs Your Rates and Comments on Much Music Coca Cola Covers Rebecca Stephens of Wasaga Beach Needs Your Support and she writes: The Much Music Coca Cola Covers contest is a competition which allows Canadian artists to upload their covers to be judged by both a Sony Music A&R panel as well as the public. The participants must choose to cover songs from a pre-determined set list of six songs. I chose to cover three of the six. The songs I covered are Frank Ocean's Thinkin' Bout You, Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break" and Ed Sheeran's "The A Team" The deadline of the competition is April 21st. After the 21st deadling the Sony A&R judges will deliberate the following week and choose their top ten finalists in all of Canada. Once the top ten in Canada are selected, the top ten will then be narrowed down to a top three. The top three will get to attend the Much Music Video Awards and the winner of the entire competition will be selected at the show and presented with a Much Music award! April 24th Military Appreciation Day at Boston Pizza Wasaga Beach
Alex Smardenka, owner of Boston Pizza Wasaga Beach, is celebrating his wife Sandy's birthday. Alex is inviting all current serving Canadian military to join the celebration. Boston Pizza will be offering a FREE meal to all who present a valid military ID card at the Wasaga Beach Restaurant (max $25/person) from 12 noon to 8 pm on Wednesday April 24th. This is a small token of Alex and Sandy's appreciation for everything the men and women of The Canadian Forces do for us. We hope everyone can join us this day.

May 2nd Next Breakfast at the Beach Speaker –Jeffrey Schmidt Executive Director, RTO7 The Networking Committee for the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the speaker for our next 'Breakfast at the Beach' on Thursday, May 2nd at 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. will be Jeffrey Schmidt. The breakfast will be held at Wasaga Sands, 10 Club Court Wasaga Beach. Jeff began working with the RTO7, prior to its incorporation and was subsequently appointed the organization's first Executive Director in July 2011. Jeff's involvement in tourism originated as an operator and member of several boards involved in destination marketing and development, including with another RTO. His background includes over 25 years of strategic management consulting to a wide range of public and not-for-profit organizations across North America. RTO7 provides strategic and collaborative leadership to build, sustain and grow tourism in Bruce, Grey and Simcoe counties. It is one of 13 independent not-for-profit corporations to which the Ontario government provides some $40 million in annual funding to lead tourism planning, marketing and development in their respective regions. The Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Networking Committee are delighted to welcome Jeff as our speaker for what we believe will be a very informative talk on Tourism in our area.
