Kearney is about a 2 hour drive north of Angus/Barrie area. Meet at 9:30 am, ride departs at 10:00 am sharp. The Wasaga Sands Golf Club held its Mens Handicap Championship this weekend. The two day event was played under great conditions. Sunny skies and very little wind with the temperature in the high 20's. Warren Shore held the lead after one day but just couldn't hold off the surging Roger Gray who won the Championship with a Net 134. Warren Shore was second with 135 and Butch McLaughlin and Rick Zahorchak tied for Third with 141. Club Captain Paul Pullman (L) presented the Boston Pizza Trophy to Roger Gray to the applause of all those players present. Stayner Lawn Bowling Club The Club meets every Monday and Thursday evening at 6:30 and all are welcome. The Wasaga Probus Clubs have a league going on Friday mornings at the Club. They meet at 9:00 getting out and having some fun and exercise. On Sunday July 21st lawn bowlers arrived at the Stayner Bowling Greens from Barrie, Collingwood, Kew Beach (Toronto), Midland and teams from Stayner for the John Prior Memorial Tournament sponsored by Stayner Foodland. Under sunny and cooler temperatures two games were played, then a delicious barbeque dinner was served. Play resumed after for the final game of the day. To top the event off everyone enjoyed some home made deserts. Darlene Fedy from Stayner Foodland was there to hand out the door prizes and the prizes for the winners. The team from Collingwood, skipped by Jane More with George Kimber and Vivianne Hebert were the three game winners. Cindy Higgins team from Midland came in second, Ron O'Sullivans from Midland team was third. Beth Willoughbys team from Barrie took home one game high. All the bowlers were given a goodie bag to take home from our sponsor. We are so lucky to have sponsors for our tournaments and it is greatly appreciated.
