EMERGING MYCOTOXINS o Patulin: genotoxic, immunotoxic, compromises gut health o Beauvericin: adverse effects on immune system; accumulates in fat-rich tissue o Fusaric acid: negative effects on swine nervous system o Ergot alkaloids: fat necrosis, lameness, reproductive problems o Moniliformin: heart damage, genotoxic and immunosuppressive

MULTI-MYCOTOXIN ANALYSIS LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry) is the state-of-the-art technique for multimycotoxin analysis. This technique is: o Selective: allows quantification of multiple analytes (up to ca. 400) present in a sample in a single analysis. o Sensitive: the limit of detection for mycotoxins can be in the ppt range.
