Welcome 49th Annual Auction

2

Dear Friends,

WELCOME

On behalf of the students, faculty and staff of Miege High School, WELCOME to the 49th Miege Annual Auction! It’s been three long years since we held our last live auction in April of 2019. At that time, COVID 19 wasn’t in our vocabulary, masks were something for Halloween, and “social distancing” seemed like an oxymoron. Miege is very grateful for the success of the 2020 & 2021 virtual auctions, however, I think everyone would be interested in time travel to a future without the pandemic. I invite you to have a joyful and fun evening with old and new friends, bidding on fabulous gift items, and trying your luck at a few games of chance … all for a great cause - the current and future students of Miege! Tonight you will hear the details of a special Fund-a-Need project that will transform parts of the school. The plan is to have renovations completed over the summer, before the start of the 22/23 school year. While this is an ambitious goal, as George McFly said, “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” I ask you to prayerfully consider making a donation to help us realize these school improvements. Countless hours have gone into the efforts to make tonight a reality. We are thankful to the many staff and volunteers who helped to make this evening a success, we acknowledge the generosity of staff, parents, alumni, friends of Miege, and business partners who have donated cash and goods & services to the auction. Bishop Miege is truly blessed by the tremendous number of people who offer their time, talent, and treasure to support the school. May God continue to bless us and guide us as we work together to provide a quality faith-filled education for our students. Have a great evening!

Randy Salisbury President, Bishop Miege High School

Hello Fellow Stags!!! We are honored to be such an integral part of the 2022 Miege Auction. We graduated from Miege in 1985 and just celebrated our 35 year reunion. Well, it was really a 36 year reunion, postponed by Covid. So many people in our community have been affected by the pandemic and we are grateful to finally celebrate with all of you in person! We love and support the tradition and foundation that Miege provides for our community. So much so, our son Joey just graduated in 2021 and our daughter Emma will graduate in 2024. Whether you graduated from Miege, your children graduated from Miege, or you are a guest of a fellow Stag, we appreciate your participation and generosity for the success of this year’s auction! Our role as auction chairs has helped develop an even greater appreciation for all of those involved in maintaining the tradition that Miege provides. Thank you to all of the staff and countless volunteers for making this year’s auction a huge success! We are truly grateful for being a part of the Miege Family. GO STAGS!

QUID PRO QUO DISCLOSURE STATEMENT The admission (ticket) price is $100 per person, of which $50 can be considered a charitable donation. If an auction item purchase consists solely of intangible religious benefits, it is regarded for tax purposes to have no fair market value; therefore, the purchase price of such an item should be regarded as a charitable contribution. All cash gifts to Bishop Miege High School qualify as charitable contributions as long as the donor received no direct benefit in return. If the amount of cash donated, or the value of a donated auction item is $250 or more, the donor is required to have a written acknowledgment as substantiation for the contribution. Bishop Miege High School will provide such an acknowledgment by May 31st. The written acknowledgment will contain the amount of cash contributed or the identity (but not the fair market value) of the item donated.
