BLUES CD STORE FEATURED NEW RELEASES Although 2001’s Spirit Of The Century was The Blind Boys of Alabama's first release for Real World, these men were no spring chickens. The gospel group had been making records and singing live together since before the start of the Second World War, their experience and wisdom making this record something of an instant classic. Backed by something of an all-star band (Ben Harper, Danny Thompson, Charlie Musselwhite, John Hammon), the ‘boys’ spiritedly tackle an imaginative range of material, including Tom Waits’ Jesus Gonna Be Here and an interesting Amazing Grace.

Blind Boys Of Alabama – Spirit Of The Century £9.99 Little Feat is a six-member powerhouse that carries on the group's tradition of deftly blending Rock, R&B and blues to create a jammin' blend of Americana that has earned accolades from critics, fellow musicians and fans alike for over four decades. Their new album, Rooster Rag features 10 brand new original songs plus two blues classics, one from Mississippi John Hurt and one from Willie Dixon. The result is a compelling album of funkified Feat guaranteed to please longtime fans and new ears.

Little Feat – Rooster Rag £12.99 Singer/songwriter/guitarist Dani Wilde is a passionate artist returnsing with her third solo CD, 'Juice Me Up'. The focus this time around is on meticulously arranged soul, funk and southern grooves, with Wilde – as always – further expanding her artistic horizons on a bold selection of original material and a pair of choice covers. Dani's brother Will Wilde, adds some blues harp sizzle to the Albert King inspired "Mississippi Kisses" And a horn section bolsters roughly half the album's 13 cuts.

Dani Wilde - Juice Me Up £12.99 The gold standard for raw-boned slide-fueled Chicago blues, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials have spent the last 25 years recording critically acclaimed albums and playing thousands of butt-rockin’ shows all over the world. 'Jump Start' is jam-packed with Lil’ Ed’s incendiary slide playing and rough, passionate singing, as the ragged-but-right Blues Imperials cook like mad alongside him. From frenetic boogies to heart-rending slow blues, there’s nothing lame and nothing tame.

Lil’ Ed And the Blues Imperials – Jump Start £13.50

We made the competition question in Bluesletter 112 a lot easier and low and behold we had a lot more entries and correct answers. The lucky winner was Mr Absolon of Selsey. He correctly stated that Cream was the band who’s song title appeared on the front cover of Bluesletter 112. He wins a Cream double CD (double cream is better than single ), Royal Albert Hall 2005 and an Eric Clapton & Friends DVD. Bluesletter 212 Member’s Competition. So here’s another easy question for those into blues rock. There is once again a song title on the front cover, on the left, in the header of this Bluesletter. Which ground breaking amazing guitarist played this song at The Isle Of Wight festival and it appeared as the first track on the second side of the original live album ‘Isle Of Wight’ released posthumously in 1971. You can either add the answer to your order form or tell us over the phone when you order. The winner will be selected at random from those with the correct answer and the prize is a pack of 10 blues/rock and rock CDs. The winner will be announced in the next Bluesletter. Henrick Freischlader - Still Frame Replay £12.99 £11.99 Henrik Freischlader is a self-taught musician, a multi-instrumentalist and a composer. He loves the Blues. Motivated by Gary Moore, he made the guitar his main instrument. This is his latest album and is a blistering set of Blues with a hard edge that will delight his growing army of fans. “The CD opens with Joe Bonamassa on lead and it picks up from there. That's right, I said it: 'picks up from there'. Don’t get me wrong – the Bonamassa track is incredible, as is his playing. But Freischlader is a phenomenon! He ably moves the CD into overdrive, with taste and playing skills that equal if not surpass his distinguished guest. Fact is, Freischlader is Germany’s secret weapon – a blues-rock guitar powerhouse with virtuosity and taste that makes one think of Hendrix or Winter shot full of Satrianilike chops. Unbelievable is an understatement. He and his band never fail to amaze, on each and every one of their CDs. And this is among his best endeavors. Guitar enthusiasts rejoice!" - Steven J. Rosen (Author - Guitar Player, Guitar World, Rolling Stone). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warren Haynes Band - Live At The Moody Theatre 2 CD + DVD £14.99 - A stunning 2-disc CD/DVD package capturing the band's blazing performance in Austin, TX late last year. On “Looking Forward Looking Back” he returns to the Electric Blues Guitar Pioneers for his inspiration. Stepping aside from Blues-Rock with its Hendrix/Ray Vaughn starting points, he has looked further back, studied, and with new songs, sought to breathe new life into Big Band Blues. “I love the humour and stinging guitar of Johnny Guitar Watson, the guitar innovation and suave sophistication of Big Band T Bone Walker and the spontaneity and blistering slide of Elmore James. And I love the fantastic horn arrangements of all three” said Eddie in a recent interview. These are exactly the qualities of this all-original 14-track release. Above all, there are memorable songs aplenty. The title track itself is a stand- out with its gospel-tinged emotion, soulful guitar and Everyman song-smith craftsmanship. Most of Eddie Martin’s 12 previous albums are available. Please ask for a list. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 24 Pesos - When The Ship Goes Down £12.75 £11.99 - 24 Pesos have a unique and energetic take on the blues that has put them at the forefront of the new Blues scene in the UK. Drawing from influences as diverse as Sly Stone, The Meters, James Brown, Freddie King, Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Derek Trucks Band, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Waits and The Roots. All tracks were recorded live to capture the real band sound, spontaneity, excitement and vibe. The tracks were then developed in the band’s own studio. Groovin’, powerful, raw and rockin’, this is very much a crossover album. Also available: Busted, Broken And Blue £12.75. 4
