That is why we support important community programs such as the 2013 Allianz Golf Championship, Boca Bacchanal and Festival of the Arts. These programs enrich our area, elevate our national recognition, and provide positive economic impact to our businesses, thus Enhancing our Community.
By Troy M. McLellan CCE, FCCP President & CEO
The Boca Chamber works year-round to Protect Business by ensuring local elected officials and other decision makers are educated on the impact their actions have on the local economy. In 2013 your Chamber will host a Tallahassee “Fly-In” in order to strengthen the relationships necessary to forge a pro-business legislation. At the top of the Chamber’s priorities is Advancing Commerce! The Chamber’s new Tourism Committee -- set to launch this month – will focus on promoting, developing and coordinating year-round tourism in the greater Boca Raton area. A continued partnership with the Business Development Board will help recruit new and viable business to our area and create jobs. 2013 will be the year of Economic Development! The Boca Chamber has proudly been Connecting Members for over 60 years! With programs geared toward business growth in technology, healthcare, women in business, entrepreneurs, professionals under 40 and much more, Chamber members will be able to benefit from the 100+ events scheduled for 2013 by building relationships with their fellow chamber members and ultimately supporting one another. The PULSE of Business Boca Chamber’s
If you haven’t been to a Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s PULSE event lately, you’ve missed the dramatic transformation in the program. Over the past year, the program has repeatedly broken attendance records at events and attracted high-level sponsorships targeting business professionals under 40. More importantly, PULSE business professionals under 40 assisted countless professionals to form strategic alliances, and make lifelong friendships. Inspiring speakers such as startup junkie Dan Cane and College Football Coach Carl Pelini have imparted their wisdom on our attendees. Best of all, we’re hearing that many attendees have benefited from successful business leads generated by attending PULSE breakfasts and lunches. In 2012, the Florida Atlantic University Alumni Association signed on to be the first PULSE title sponsor. Our events have been flooded with FAU alumni, and we have increased the visibility of the Alumni program through the awareness of FAU’s graduate and professional academic programs and special events. Our first PULSE breakfast at the FAU stadium was one of the most popular events of the year. We are delighted with our partnership from FAU and excited about the inquiries from other organizations that are seeking to sponsor the PULSE program and gain exposure with our enthusiastic attendees. If your company is interested in becoming a sponsor, please reach out to Sarah Pearson, Vice President Business Development, Boca Chamber. Program Sponsor As the PULSE program continues to improve its programming through high-value networking and featuring renowned speakers, be sure to register for the events in advance and invite your colleagues and employees under 40 to participate. www.bocaratonchamber.com

SKLAR attributes its growth to its core philosophies: item customization, product quality and dedicated customer service. “While the economy has tightened in recent years, we have never veered from our commitment to quality and our thoughtful customization and attention to client needs,” said Rick Howard who owns SKLAR along with his wife Pat Howard. “We were leaders in the green movement, being among the first in the nation to promote and use LED lighting and other steps to drastically reduce our carbon footprint.” Upfront foods gaining distribution for its kosher, non-gmo upfront nutty granola: Upfront Foods®, a new producer of gourmet granola, is now available in Whole Foods 17 Florida markets and is adding distribution throughout Florida and in the Northeast. Attorney and Partner Brian G. Cheslack celebrates his 10th anniversary with Chapin, Ballerano & Cheslack this year. He joined the firm in 2002, and was made partner in 2003, focusing his practice on tax law and the preservation and transfer of wealth. Cheslack notes, “I have found in the past ten years that the most supreme compliment a client can give you is, ‘You don’t act like an attorney.’ I try to make my explanations simple, my advice practical and always stop now and again to have a good laugh at myself.” To go with this milestone of a decade of service with his firm, Cheslack recently marked 30 years of patriotism to country, announcing his retirement as a Captain of the United States Navy Reserve after 30 years of active and reserve service. “I value my military service because it taught me humility, perspective and the tenacity of the human spirit,” he said. The sting of loss from last year’s final has given way to jubilation following Lynn University’s 3-2 victory over Saginaw Valley State in the NCAA Division II Championship final, claiming the program’s fourth national title and the 20th in school history. Johnny Mertl and Yannick Braeuer scored first-half goals but it was Anthony Desperito’s goal with 20 minutes remaining that allowed the Fighting Knights to hoist the championship trophy. Lynn finishes the season 19-3-1 overall. The Blue & White previously won national crowns in 2003, 1991 and 1987. Desperito was honored as the Most Outstanding Offensive Player while Jason Sangha earned Most Outstanding Defensive Player recognition. 2013 Allianz Championship Enhancing Community It’s time to “get in the game” as the 2013 Allianz Championship drives significant business, play, economic impact, and charity in Boca Raton February 4th-10th.
For companies and entrepreneurs seeking to catapult business opportunity in 2013, the Allianz Championship is “tee-ing up” plenty of “on-the green” opportunity for business camaraderie and relationship-building, social and leisure enjoyment, economic impact and charity. The first fullfield PGA Champions Tour event of the season with a celebrated roster of golf legends at The Old Course at Broken Sound Club is jam-packed with interactive business-generating “events within the event”. In addition to viewing three days of championship play from company-hosted executive skyboxes overlooking the 18th green with clients and colleagues and mingling with other business and community leaders, tournament week offers “up close and personal” experiences for every interest. These include an Executive Women’s Power Breakfast, Clinic & Pro-Am with LGPA legend and eight-time “Player of the Year” Annika Sorenstam; two days of Executive Pro-Am play pairing participants with PGA pros; “social, power and play” at the popular annual “Grapes On The Green” Golf & Wine Experience during the second round play, Saturday Family Day, signing up to be a volunteer, and showcasing products and services in the popular Exhibitor Village. Produced by the nonprofit Boca Raton Champions Golf Charities (BRCGC) board, the Allianz Championship continues to “chip-in” net proceeds to benefit the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Tournament Director Ryan Dillon reports that this year’s event is expected to exceed the impressive 2012 tournament deliverables of $15 million in economic impact to the community (i.e. area hotels, restaurants, retailers, and more), 65,000 spectators, viewership by 4.9 million with all three championship rounds televised live by the Golf Channel, $300,000 raised for the Boca Raton Champions Golf Charities and remaining “one the greenest golf tournaments” on the PGA Champions Tour. Sponsorship packages (which include branded opportunities, premium seating, and a variety of invitation-only receptions, Pro-Am play, meet-and-greets with tournament players, etc.), Pro-Am spots (which include admission to Draw Party with golf legends), and VIP and Executive Skybox Seating are available. To “get in the game”, call 561-241-GOLF (4653) or visit www.allianzchampionship.com.
