Names to Know at the Club
Dear Premier Club Member, Our team recognizes the trust and confidence that you place in us as your family and friends visit for the holidays. We understand the importance of every meal shared with family, every round of golf played with a grandchild and every manicure with a daughter is a memory that we help frame. This past November we conducted the Resort & Club’s tri-annual Town Hall meeting. Approximately 1,000 of Boca’s team members were in attendance to hear the plan for 2015. Historically, such meetings consist of a lengthy PowerPoint presentation on the business plan. A graph reflecting how much busier the hotel would be in 2015 over 2014 was shown and that part of the meeting was over. What historically took 60 minutes was done in 3 minutes. The meeting was focused on introducing our true purpose. Some of you might be

knowledgeable of the Butterfly Effect; a theory developed in the 1960s wherein a small change in one state can result in large differences in a later state. The MIT professor used the metaphorical flapping of a butterfly’s wings having influence on a developing hurricane across the planet. We translated this to, “a small action can lead to a big impact on guests and members.” Over the holiday, celebrations large and small will occur all over the Resort & Club as you entertain families and friends. Our role is to make this as easy as possible and as conducive as possible for you to make each of these interactions memorable. Trust that I know about this; my 23 year old is an ambitious engineer living in Columbia, South Carolina. As she comes to Florida for the holidays, I aim to enjoy every second with her while serving you, the hotel guests and our team. It is true; a small action can have a big impact. We wish you a blessed holiday.
For your convenience, communication with the Club is now much easier.

In Mayan mythology, the Kapoc tree connects the planes of the underworld to the terrestrial realm and the sky. Here at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, a majestic Kapoc connects us to that past. “When it was planted in 1925, they used old tires around the base of the tree to stabilize it,” says Director of Landscaping David Wilson, who, when he first started at the Club in the 1980s, had the opportunity to work alongside some of the men who had planted the Kapoc and Banyans that adorn the property. · New delightfully landscaped walkways connect the Members Garage Entrance to the Tennis Center and Health Club.

Resolution 2015:
Embrace an Enlightened Lifestyle The New Year is just around the corner. What better time to start your journey on the preventive pathway to better living? By engaging in the Club’s Enlightened Lifestyle initiative, you can take steps to prevent chronic illness while also improving your strength, mobility and energy levels. The physicians at EL Medicine (located off the Spa corridor), will help you begin your journey by conducting tests and drafting a Lifestyle Prescription. Following an extensive consultation with the physicians, a trained and certified wellness advisor will help guide you along your personal pathway. You have two options as you begin to enjoy a truly Enlightened Lifestyle: •BASIC. The physicians conduct a litany of tests including a cardiovascular fitness measurement (VO2 Max test) while calculating body mass index. Single: $275/Couple: $500. •ADVANCED. The physicians conduct the BASIC diagnostics along with a nutritional review, disease-risk blood testing and neuro-motor evaluations. Single: $599/Couple: $999. (Contact EL Medicine at 561-362-0724 or elmedicine.com for testing details). For more information, call 347-4772.
Chart your own course! You can also plot your own path toward an Enlightened Lifestyle by taking advantage of the Club’s many health and wellness offerings – ranging from fitness classes to healthy cooking demonstrations. You’ll find more information in the Tuesday eblasts that come your way and in future issues of Boca Club Life. The Wenzel Center for Chiropractic & Alternative Medicine at the Boca Raton Resort & Club may also help you reach your goals. Ira S. Wenzel, DC, has more than 20 years experience specializing in the non-surgical and differential diagnosis of neuro-musculoskeletal disorders of the neck, back and extremities as well as motor vehicle trauma and sports injuries. The Wenzel Center is located in Suite 173 of the Cloister Building. For more information, call 447-3604.

Enjoy a happy and healthy holiday at the new Health Club
The Health Club and Group Exercise Studio were
opened at the end of November – just in time to help you manage holiday stress and temptation! Orientation
tours will be provided to all Members to introduce you to the new, state-of-the-art work-out environment.
Holiday Tips from the EL team • Eat regular meals and healthy snacks so you won’t be tempted to overdo it at festive events. • If the hectic pace makes satisfying sit-down meals hard to manage, indulge in a protein-packed snack (such as low-fat yogurt, reduced-fat cheese or a handful of healthy nuts) before heading off to the next party. • When you get to the party, make smart choices. Fill your plate with things like: shrimp, lobster and other steamed seafood; plain or lightly dressed vegetables, meat or poultry – without the gravy; and fresh fruit.
