Dear Premier Club Members, THE NEW YEAR IS STILL YOUNG, but it is already off to an amazing start. This month, you can look forward to a wide variety of programming. Our Presidents’ Day weekend will be brimming with events, a number of which will feature our talented Artists in Residence. We’ll host hit singersongwriters as part of our Dockside Live Series along with two nights of Late Night Jams – a Member favorite. Artist in Residence Gina Bradley, founder of Paddle Diva, will offer her popular Paddle Boarding and Aqua Mat classes. Other wellness events to look for include KarmaVibes Yoga and Gravity + Oxygen. Throughout the weekend, you’ll find exclusive designer trunk shows and culinary and bar pop-ups across the Resort & Club. If fitness was part of your New Year’s resolution, you’re in luck – we have enhanced our wellness programs at the Club. We have introduced the new, first-ever Hydrow Experience Studio. Hydrow is an experiential full-body rowing workout; the Resort & Club’s version incorporates gorgeous video filmed on Lake Boca just last month. In celebration of our new Hydrow Experience Studio and the relaunch and relocation of the Orangetheory Fitness Studio, classes are currently complimentary. We have also installed Peloton bikes at both the Boca Beach Club and Main Resort Health Clubs. Finally, happy anniversary! Our centennial year is rapidly approaching, but naturally, we like to acknowledge our cherished Resort & Club every year. A self-described chronic entrepreneur with a passion for creating ideas, concepts, brands, memories and meaningful things, Judith has experienced the joys and challenges of pursuing her dreams and goals with no regrets. At her core, she is a global citizen with a yearning desire to serve others. With a fashion career that began with luxury retailer Nordstrom and evolved into designing and manufacturing her own women’s apparel line, Judith shifted gears to run sales and marketing for a wholesale apparel manufacturer. These experiences established the base for the next stage of her career in retail consulting and eventually retail store ownership. Her selfproclaimed raison d’etre is to consciously create fair fashion intended to nurture the soul.

THE CREATOR’S VISION. While on a personal journey to find her inner self and create a business endeavor that would express her soul while helping others, Judith used her meditation practice to assist in uncovering the answer, which was right in front of her all along: her mala beads.

Throughout her world travels, Judith would randomly encounter mala beads, which are a Buddhist rosary of 108 beads used for meditation. There was something about the beads that spoke to her. Upon discovering the beads' purpose — that each bead represents a mantra, a chant or word that is said either out loud or to yourself to create transformation — she found her inspiration.

She decided this would be the core concept to launch her next creative venture. Mala and Mantra was created with the goal of providing fashionable jewelry, accessories and apparel with spiritual affirmations to help wearers discover their inner soul. It was critical for Judith to consciously create her jewelry and accessories line. She began working with local Southern California jewelry makers and then found a social entrepreneurship in the Philippines to collaborate with for the brand's larger production. The social enterprise in the Philippines provides sustainable income, fair wages and a safe work environment for a women’s cooperative in Northern Luzon.

By purchasing production from this cooperative, Mala and Mantra supports these women and their families, as well as assuring them of sustainable income while expanding their livelihood. This is the most significant part of the entrepreneurial equation for Judith: to create fair fashion inspired by spirit, fit for the soul.

AFTER GRADUATING FROM THE PHILADELPHIA COLLEGE OF TEXTILES AND SCIENCE with an engineering degree, Max-Steven Grossman soon discovered his passion for photography. In 2000, he graduated from NYU and the International Center of Photography with a Master's Degree. His seemingly disparate studies in engineering and art have helped mold his work into a study of reality and imagination. In his "Bookscapes" series he digitally reorganizes photos from different bookshelves into a thematic library including Music, Art, Fashion, Architecture, Law, Sports and more. The artist says this series is titled “Bookscapes” because, “It’s a landscape – it is a space where you can look for more than three seconds…. DISTANCE CONTROL with GREENSIDE BUNKER PLAY One of the main reasons golfers have such a difficult time gauging distance is due to the club entering the sand on the down stroke at different distances from the ball. Hit 10 bunker shots, making a full swing and focus on hitting 5 inches behind the ball, take the average carry distance of the 10. Hit 10 shots 3 inches behind the ball, then 1 inch— Now go through the same routine, but with a half swing! The key to improvement is to start gaining consistency with where the club is entering the sand and knowing how the ball will react!
