10 commandments Someone has written these beautiful words. You must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it. They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.

1. Prayer is not a “spare wheel” that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a “steering wheel” that directs the right path throughout.

2. A Car’s WINDSHIELD is so large & the Rear view Mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

3. Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4. All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don’t worry, they can’t last long either.

And when the night time brought us home, hushing our merry din, Mother would look around and ask, “Are all the children in?”

Well, it’s been many a year now and the old house on the hill, no longer has my mother’s care and the yard is still so still. But if I listen, I can hear it all, no matter how long it’s been. I seem to hear my mother ask “are all the children in?”

And I wonder, when the curtain falls on that last earthly day, when we say goodbye to all of this, to our pain and work and play. When we step across the river where mother so long has been. Will we hear her ask a final time, “Are all the children in?”

A Tap on the Shoulder

Last Wednesday a passenger in a taxi heading for the station leaned over to ask the driver a question and gently tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.

The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb and stopped just inches from a large plate glass window.

For a few moments everything was silent in the cab. Then the shaking driver said “Are you OK? I’m so sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me.”

The badly shaken passenger apologized to the driver and said, “I didn’t realize that a mere tap on the shoulder would startle someone so badly.”

The driver replied, “No, no, I’m the one who is sorry, it’s entirely my fault. Today is my very first day driving a cab. I’ve been driving a hearse for 25 years.”

Affirmation for the month of September: My life is in balance and in order, and all is well.

Meditations on the Fall Equinox Here we are again at the end of summer, approaching the Fall Equinox; one of two times a year when the daytime and the night are of equal length.

All summer long, the energy of the earth and the sun have fed and nurtured us, body and spirit. We have been lifted up out of our limited lives and embraced in the lush, warmth of summer.

Rudolph Steiner, the great philosopher/ teacher of the late 1800s and early 1900s, talks about summer as a time when our souls are lifted out of our ego focus and embraced by cosmic consciousness. Then as we come to September, it is as though we are returned to ourselves, with a spark of divine truth implanted within us to be nurtured over winter and birthed into our lives in the spring of the following year. I agree with him on this and would like to help you to transition through this darker

period of the year with greater awareness of the gifts you hold within like a mother holds a child in her womb.

There is a challenge to be overcome during this transition which many feel in the fall. Some experience it as a kind of depression. I have always had a sense of expectancy! As we are returned to our personal ego identities, we can feel dull and limited. It can be hard to let go of all that outer light and expansive consciousness; but there is the light within you, both that which you had before the summer and that which has been added to you during the summer season. If you can willingly choose to turn your focus within, you might discover an eagerness to be able to nurture yourself and the light growing within you.

The darker months are your time to find and nurture the light within yourself.

I love the inner relationship with both my human self and my own personal focus of spirit. This is the most primary of all relationships and one that is not

often encouraged by parents and school teachers; but without it we are dependent on outward stimulation for our growth.

Without that inward time and focus we can entirely miss our unique personal gifts of spirit and the world will be sadder for their absence.

Understanding this, as we begin the cooler seasons, it might help if you take some time to consider what rich opportunities for experiencing and nurturing your spirit and soul you would like to provide for yourself! What gives you joy and awakens your passion?

What soothes and enriches your spiritual life? How can you make time to give these to yourself?

Perhaps you are a secret artist and long to paint or play the piano, but haven’t bothered to do so. Maybe through walking or running you find an inner rhythm through which you receive messages and insight into your life and purpose. Sitting in meditation might help you find a stillness that allows that seed,

A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the “Chicken Surprise”... The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.

Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly, and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.

“Good grief, did you see that?” she asks her husband. He hadn’t, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down. Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.

“Please sir,” says the waiter, “what you order?”

The husband replies, “Chicken Surprise”.

“Ah! So sorry,” says the waiter, “I bring you Peeking Duck .”

Shanti Time Yoga Now Offering, “Acroyoga” Every other Wednesday evening at Shanti Time Yoga in Madison Heights, the beautiful blue-haired Veronica Callan literally teaches her students how to fly. Unlike the introspective silence found in most yoga classes, Acroyoga is social and requires students to interact and verbally communicate. It’s common to hear laughter and even applause. Acroyoga is the fun blend of yoga, acrobatics, healing and performance arts. Neither a yoga nor acrobatic background is necessary to participate; complex and physically demanding poses are worked up to.

Christina Wong, a regular yogi at Shanti Time comments, “I love learning something different at every Acroyoga class!

It’s great working together to achieve tough poses and moves that I never expected to be able to do. Also, we have tons of fun while getting a good workout!”

The class begins with unique warm-ups, including zombie kicks and banana rolls. Next, Veronica shows students step by step how to launch into poses. Each pose consists of a base (the support on the bottom), the flyer (who goes into the air), and spotters (to make sure the flyer is safe). Students work in small groups rotating partners and trying different positions. Not everyone does everything, but everyone does something.

Studio owner and Hatha yoga teacher Andrea Cesarek says, “For me, its a practical application of yoga. As the base you feel how solid your alignment is and this helps refine your regular yoga practice. In the air you go deeper into poses than you can on the ground. The best part is the creation of a deeper sense of community and trust that translates into our other group classes.”

Survive or Thrive: Massage & Extreme Self Care Do you thrive? Or, are you merely surviving, just getting by? Thriving and surviving are reflections of our subconscious attitudes, attitudes of self worth and poor opinions on life and what it should be. We don’t make our choices based on our reality; we make our reality based on our choices.

Our emotions dictate our actions, but science has proven that our actions will dictate our emotions. Act happy to be happy. Thriving and surviving are both choices; surprisingly, just getting by takes way more energy than thriving.

People who thrive take good care of themselves, and people who choose to take good care of themselves will thrive. Small lifestyle changes, like massage for good health, have a huge positive snow ball effect on every aspect of our lives.

Our emotional energy creates our reality; the stories we tell ourselves create our emotional energy and we act accordingly. For example, “Fake it until you become it” is a proven road to success. If you physically express something you will generate the matching emotions and create that reality, this is the law of attraction.

Muhammad Ali took this a step further; he always did a power pose, arms raised above his head in triumph when he declared, “I am the greatest,” and he did this before he won anything. So physical expression and physical action create physical reality.

If you choose massage as a conscious mental and physical expression of self love and acceptance, the universe will read this as an, “I choose to thrive” September 2013

statement and your reality will reflect this. This is a universal law.

However, when we take a look at the negative patterns in our life, truly looking at those patterns of repetitive negative experiences, the only choice we have is to look at the common denominator. And no matter how you slice it, it’s always us.

We can attempt to blame our environment and the people in it for these experiences but that only serves to keep us stuck in survival mode. I have always said that the faces and names may change in this revolving door of patterns, but until we accept that we are the primary star in our life and begin to look with new eyes and a beginner’s mind, we are ignoring the root beliefs that have shaped our experiences and have driven our choices. We have only to look at the negative patterns in our life,

whether it concerns finances, health, relationships or career, to discover our deeply rooted beliefs. When we decide to unlearn the beliefs and habits that no longer serve us, only then can we re-write our new life script. Before we can explore the rooted patterns of beliefs that have driven our lives up to this point, it is fundamentally important to start with selfishly motivated self-care and cease putting others agendas before our own.

If we deny ourselves self-care, we have less of a chance of having the energy or the capacity to thrive; we instead find ourselves in survival mode. Self-care is essential, as it is simply meeting our basic needs.

When you think of self-care you may think of eating, resting and taking time for ourselves—all accurate. In order to truly thrive instead of survive, the opportunity exists for a level of extreme self-care that you may not have considered. This includes stress elimination, not stress management; emotional, mental and spiritual balance; meditation; proper breathing; self-empowerment; setting wider boundaries; and physical attention including healthy eating, exercise and regular expert massage. It also includes your home and work environment as well as the significant but often never achieved ability to allow pleasure into our lives!

CHOOSING YOUR ATTITUDE Jerry is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he Would reply, “If I were any better, I would be twins!”

He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant.

The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, “I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?” Jerry replied, “Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.”

“Yeah, right, it’s not that easy,” I protested. “Yes it is,” Jerry said. “Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live life.”

I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in the restaurant business...he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gun point by three armed robbers.

While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.

I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, “If I were any better, I’d be twins. Wanna see my scars?” I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. “The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door,” Jerry replied. “Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live.”

“Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?” I asked.

Jerry continued, “...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read ‘he’s a dead man.’ I knew I needed to take action.”

“What did you do?” I asked. “Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,” said Jerry. “She asked if I was allergic to anything.

‘Yes’ I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, ‘BULLETS!’ Over their laughter, I told them, ‘I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead’.” Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude.

I learned from him that every day, we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, can change everything. And remember, when you choose it, it’s contagious.

Energy Got Enough?

Energy is quite an elusive thing. It is elusive because so many people complain about having too little energy while others complain about having too much. The most common complaint I hear from patients is that they don’t have enough energy to do the things they need or want to do in order to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

People who have too much energy are typically unable to relax or unwind, and life can be very stressful. The bottom line is that life without the proper energy and/or the control of that energy is no way to live.

Energy basically equates to the ability to do things. Not having enough energy is like having a great car with an amazing potential for speed, yet there is no gas in the tank. Even with the best technology under the hood, a car without gas can’t take you anywhere.

Do you see how this compares with your body’s need for energy?

There are so many complex situations that take place within the body that relate to energy production -- too many to discuss in this article. In order to cover all these important topics in greater detail, I invite my patients along with the readers of this wonderful publication to attend my monthly inoffice workshops.

Many people who have dropped into very low energy states have been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue, and/or Fibromyalgia.

Large numbers of people are impaired by lack of energy but don’t have a medical diagnosis. They usually know that something isn’t right because they can’t keep up with the day-to-day 16

demands of life. Could you be one of them?

People that suffer from energy loss are targets for commercials for energy drinks and bars that promise relief. However, what’s needed is a solution, not a life-raft without any hope of rescue.

The problem with short term solutions is that they end up creating more problems in the long run. Artificial energy boosting foods and similar products put people at risk for bigger problems because they rob the body’s deep energy reserves.

In order to understand this loss of energy, let’s look at the energy packets used in the body, called ATP’s or adenosine tri-phosphates.

These energy packets are formed and maintained by specialized cells in our body called “Mitochondria.” Fluoride is a huge threat to Mitochondria as it destroys its DNA, and it can’t reproduce. As a result, people who ingest fluoride experience less energy.

Nutrition and sleep are the two most important requirements for rebuilding the physical body and recharging energy systems. Good nutrition provides the building blocks necessary to rebuild the body. The most energy from nutrition can be obtained by providing the body with good fats that can be used for fuel. Good fat is one of the best fuels because it has 2.4 times the energy stored in it per unit than a protein or a carbohydrate. However, don’t be confused by trans-fats that are unusable by the body. Trans-fats can start out as good fats or oils that have been heated beyond their temperature limit. Take a look at the nutrition link on my website (www.karlwellnesscenter. com) to see the safe cooking temperatures or smoke points of many commonly used oils.

Whole food supplements may also be used to help provide the nutrition needed to rebuild the body and increase energy, especially the B vitamins. I use only sources for B vitamins that are real and natural such as those produced by Standard Process, Nutri-west, and other nonsynthetic sources. A massively large portion of B vitamins made from coal tar are produced in Columbus, Ohio and shipped around the world later to be renamed by different secondary suppliers. While they may help increase energy, they are not reparative in the body. They may also be destructive as in the case of synthetic B1 which can cause sterility in the offspring [Dr. Royal Lee’s research]. Synthetic vitamins often have the postscript HCl after their name.

B vitamin complexes are also beneficial in dealing with the effect of radiation. Radiation interferes with energy production in the body, mental outlook, and may leave one feeling lethargic and depressed. We may come into contact with radiation from naturally occurring radon gas coming out of the ground and from the burning of coal. Much of that radiation comes from overseas where dirtier coal is used, as in China. Today, with the excess of storms on the sun creating solar winds, we have yet another source of radiation that is affecting people and their hormones.

Imbalanced hormones are another big factor when it comes to energy deficits.

Balancing the hormonal systems in today’s world requires a global look at body systems and eating clean, hormone and antibiotic free foods so as not to disturb the balance in the body’s natural systems.

The best solutions to combating energy loss are quite simple. When you eat clean, preferably organic food, add in whole food supplements as needed, ensure that you have

a working nervous system free of structural interference along with a properly balanced hormonal system, and get the proper amount of good quality sleep, you have the basic requirements for increased energy production in your body. Add in exercise, constructive work, service to humanity, and a creative outlet for all of your increased energy, and you are on the way to a very healthy and happy life!

You Will Always Get More Than Just One

ceasing thoughts, ceased. When I did think about it, there was no emotional charge. I was able to look at the issue calmly, objectively and with detachment.

Recently an issue came out of the past.

I thought it was laid to rest but it seems the Universe had other plans. It kept bothering me, I kept thinking about it. I rationalized my actions, critically reviewed those of the other party and looked for evidence as to why I was right and they were wrong. This is a very tiring process. The mind gets no rest.

Since the mind keeps churning over the same arguments, there can be no breakthrough. I decided this is not how I wanted to be. Why do I want to tie up my life-force arguing with myself? I was not going to change the other person so why try? I needed to calm my mind. I needed to stop the incessant thoughts.

2. The other party simply went away.

Their antagonistic actions stopped. This happened without any action on my part.

Raising Vibration What I chose to do was simple. I chose to raise my vibration around this issue.

Rather than see the issue through the eyes of the material world, I decided that I would see it from a higher perspective, i.e. raise my vibration around the issue. Please note the specificity of my intention … to raise my vibration around this issue, not overall, just this issue and this issue alone.

The Results What happened was amazing.

3. A related but different issue simply fixed itself with no additional effort on my part.

4. Another totally unrelated problem that was mechanical in nature and had been plaguing me for months simply and miraculously went away. It seemed to have fixed itself.

5. I slept more deeply and without interruption.

6. I had more energy.

7. My next day at work was a joy. Life was a breeze. It was fun.

8. I connected with old friends that I had not seen in years.

9. I was more positive in my outlook toward all things.

There were probably other changes but these were the ones that were most obvious to me.

There are three points worth noting.

1. It’s obvious, but if you want to get a different result, you need to decide to do something different and then act on it. Continuing to anticipate different results with the same methods will only lead to fatigue and frustration. Such an approach is life draining.

2. Once a decision is made to do something different, there are a number of choices but they all boil down to two broad categories. You can take physical action or energetic action. I chose to change the energy of how I was viewing the issue.

3. Raising your vibration always brings multiple benefits. I had one wish. I wanted to stop the incessant thoughts that were rambling around in my head.

I got that, but I also got a lot more than that. I benefited from nine positive

outcomes as a result of my decision to raise my vibration around one issue.

Why It Works This works because all problems have as a commonality lower, denser, heavier energies. If we can change the underlying energy of the problem by raising our vibration, then the energy that binds and feeds the problem disintegrates. If you build object using glue, it is the glue that holds the pieces together. The glue is the force that binds the pieces. If the glue were to melt, the finished product would simply lose its form and fall apart. Heavy, dense, negative energy is the glue that gives your problem form and keeps it alive. This is what Einstein meant when he said, “Problems cannot be solved on the same level of thinking that created them.”

The Technique to Raise Your Vibration I was able to complete the vibrational shift in one evening. It took about an hour. I came to be tested by Dr. Reggish because I couldn’t lose weight. I’ve been overweight for my whole life and have tried many programs, only to spend a lot of money, and not lose anything. Children in Church A little boy was in a relative’s wedding.

As he was coming down the aisle, he would take two steps, stop, and turn to the crowd.

While facing the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws and roar.

So it went, step, step, ROAR, step, step, ROAR, all the way down the aisle.

As you can imagine, the crowd was near tears from laughing so hard by the time he reached the pulpit.

When asked what he was doing, the child sniffed and said, “I was being the Ring Bear.”

One Sunday in a Midwest City, A young child was “acting up” during the morning worship hour.

The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle.

Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out.

Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little one called loudly to the congregation, “Pray for me! Pray for me!”

One particular four-year old prayed, “And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets.”

A little boy was overheard praying: “Lord, if you can’t make me a better boy, don’t worry about it. I’m having a real good time like I am.”

The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel mike, and as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went. Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord and nearly tripping before jerking it again. After several circles and jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother and whispered, “If he gets loose, will he hurt us?”

Operation Prayer Power – Science, Spirituality and Global Healing Prayer is the science of miracles and it can change the world if enough people use this spiritual power inherent within each of us. PEACE ACTION COMMEMORATES ATOMIC BOMBING OF HIROSHIMA, JAPAN Motoko Huthwaite and Kevin Martin will speak on Tuesday, August 6th at 7:00pm at the Royal Oak Public Library, 222 East 11 Mile Road.

After a tiring day, a commuter settled down in his seat and closed his eyes.

As the train rolled out of the station, the young woman sitting next to him pulled out her cell phone and started talking in a loud voice: “Hi sweetheart. It’s Sue. I’m on the train”.

“No, honey, not with that Kevin from the accounting office. It was with the boss”.

Believe in Yourself There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be.

That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down.

But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself.

There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.

So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.

Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

We are all seekers of the truth. Some are seeking their own truth, others are seeking the truth told by someone else, and then there are others who tell you what “your” truth is. Where is the truth? What is the truth? How can I find it? These are questions we ask ourselves daily, but then get too busy to listen for the answers.

The truth for me is located in my solar plexus (the space between the rib cage) and my heart. I know when something is true for me because I feel calm in these areas. My stomach is still and my heart is at peace. When I am confronted with questionable “truths” I consciously take a breath, and sense how I feel in these areas. I really tune into what I am feeling in order to get an immediate answer. I will receive answers to my life’s direction, people’s character, food to eat, directions, and more.

Everyone’s truth is different. It is important for you to know yourself and be honest with your feelings. Doubt is a hindrance that blocks feelings and confidence. For example, during my childhood and adolescence family members told me that I was “too sensitive”, and I interpreted this to be a “bad thing”. I felt shame for expressing how I felt. Therefore I denied my feelings, which developed into a lack confidence and self-esteem issues.

The Truth is not something you learn while being raised by two alcoholic parents. What I did learn was codependent behaviors, secrets and survival. The entire family unit suffers as a direct result of this affliction. I coped by not being connected to my physical body. I survived using “gut instincts” and prayer. Notice I did not say thrive, I was very sickly and had difficulty learning. Focus was not my strong point and in our current culture I would be labeled as having Attention Deficit Disorder. Living out of my body the majority of my life became easy for me. I had the experience of knowing spirit from a young age, I was comfortable with the metaphysical, and I developed the ability of listening to my intuition.

What I didn’t know at a young age was that my experiences were a part of my life contract for facilitating healings with others. My ability with connecting to spirit heightened during the years, which guided me to the work I do today. I am able to intuitively connect to others who are affected by codependent behaviors/relationships, people who suffer physical traumas, or who have difficulty navigating through life.

The Truth is, during a healing session a client will restate “my story” to me. I “know” them because I was who they are.

I help them because I was able to help myself overcome codependency, physical and emotional abuse and all the

shame, blame, guilt and anger that comes with it. The plight still rages on in my family dynamics, but I am the Master of my life, having learned to rise above and detach with love.

I chose to help the human condition of addiction and codependency before incarnating and I am grateful I did. It has taught me compassion, acceptance and peace at a level deeper than I ever could have expected. I never thought I would disclose my history so outwardly, but it was time I own my truth. When you live through the eye of the storm you come out wanting to help others get through it. I want to share with everyone that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. You can live your life any way you desire. It can be on a daily basis for your soul’s highest expression, or to experience your deepest fear and possibly get stuck in it. It is a choice. It is patience. It is silence. It is “knowing” that the love, which you truly are, will keep you following the light that is omnipresent, and at the end of the tunnel.

Unexpected Consequences Most unexpected consequences should not be unexpected. They are the result of natural laws.

You just chose to ignore that law.

There is one group of unexpected consequences that we want to address here, which is humor.

Much humor is derived from an answer to a question that was not expected. The humor comes from the realization of the obvious.

Another area of humor comes from repetition or overdoing.

In a class we gave, we wanted our students to experience a negative state. We started to have them imagine driving home and having an SUV cut them off. When they looked into the window of the SUV the driver was on a cell phone.

To make matters worse the driver was also eating and preening. As we added situation after situation, it became obvious that we had overdone it. Everyone was laughing.

Not all unexpected consequences end in humor. Sometimes a cultural difference or individual experience can trigger a negative reaction.

Imagine the surprise of a Hindu to the reaction of a community if he displayed a good luck symbol from his culture, the swastika. A friend of ours would get noticeably upset if you mentioned that after swimming you had to take a shower, she had been raped in a shower.

Most of us, as adults, have been educated to look for, anticipate and avoid the negative consequences.

Collectively, these actions fall under the title of political correctness. Like everything else, political correctness or PC can, and has, been carried to extremes. Many of us cringe or laugh at some of the verbiage that comes out when people try to be politically correct.

As a matter of fact, anything repeated to the point of absurdity becomes funny. Think of that teacher who would use the same phrase everyday. Soon you and the other students would use the repeated phrase and giggle. There may even be one of those phrases that still brings a smile when you hear it today.

Many TV commercials were used too much. Instead of having the impact that the company expected, it became a source of humor or ridicule. The good advertising agencies inherently know this and would use a key phrase or jingle to induce humor and joy. For years after they stopped airing the ads, the phrase or giggle still runs through our heads. We smile when we see the product.

When things do not go the way you planned, look for the humor. The real unexpected consequence is that you will start to smile and laugh much more often. A plan that goes somewhat astray is met with joy.

Most of your life becomes fun.

Fun lightens the soul and makes learning easier. Laughter brings more oxygen into the lungs and results in more energy, without the downer from energy drinks. Joy helps to cure just about everything.

There is nothing wrong with joy, laughter, and healing, fun, energy or there results, like love and peace.

May you all experience the unexpected consequences and the positive results.

CAR KEYS Several days ago as I left a meeting at a hotel; I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down.

There is a Reason You’re Here!

I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing.

Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot.

My husband has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition. My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. His theory is that the car will be stolen.

As I burst through the door, I came to a terrifying conclusion. His theory was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen.

Then I made the most difficult call of all, “Honey,” I stammered; ( I always call him “honey” in times like these.) “I left my keys in the car and it’s been stolen.”

There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard his voice. “Are you kidding’ me”, he barked, “I dropped you off”!!!

Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, “Well, come and get me.” He retorted, “I will, as soon as I convince this cop I didn’t steal your car.”

Greater Abundance Is Waiting Over the years, I have asked these questions many times: “Am I fully giving of my heart in this moment?”

“Am I fully engaged?”

Sometimes I was asking this question 10x or more in one day. Each time I could feel myself come back to fully expressing Love, in me, as me, and through me. I know, if I fully give of myself consistently on a daily basis, life will reflect back my internal abundance.

We hold back because we have had some experience as children where we expressed fully our unique hearts, and it was not supported. There is some experience where we were told to be quiet, ignored, told we were wrong, or attacked.

This event can be something small, but to your childhood self, it was huge. That event was the first brick in creating the ‘wall’. If I fully express the unique me, something bad will happen: (people will think I am weird, spouse won’t love me, I won’t make a living at it etc.). This is why most people yearn to feel free to be themselves, or they remain stuck in a job that is not an expression of their innate gifts.

Everyday I continued to express myself more fully, and then subtly, over the months, life reflected back my greater commitment. Life will always reflect back what we are giving. Most people are only half engaged in the day, their work, and relationships as a way to ‘protect’ themselves. However, this holding back keeps us stuck, and then we painfully wonder why things are not changing. Accepting life as it is, and expressing fully NOW, seems insane to a person who has forgotten the power within. Acceptance sounds like a prison to one who forgets 38

say: “Why is this here?” or “What did I do wrong?” The weed simply seeks to grow, emerge and express. Suffering comes when you resist life force. Be like a weed and choose to open up to what is seeking to emerge through you. You do this on a daily, moment by moment basis.

Remember it is a daily practice, so if you forget one day or week don’t beat yourself up.

the good that is ALREADY given. This is why expressing authentically everyday is a practice. Your authentic self is beautiful, and not a monster. Daily steps help us to remember the natural law that says expressing love fully = love reflected back.

Abundance, love, or your good is waiting for you to open up and let go. You don’t have to figure out ‘how’, or ‘make it happen’. You can stay stuck in the ‘how’ for years OR you can use the power you have, right now, to change your life.

We have a choice to identify as human (mind, body or emotion) or Divine ( love, beauty, wisdom). We only hold on to what we identify as ourselves. Accept that the story, emotion or pain is there, but then let go. Once you are aware of the internal pain, the paradox is, the less you do or react, the faster it shifts. Surrender is power. Analyze and ask ‘why’, and your mind will continue to come up with many reasons such as, “It is my fault”, or “It is their fault.”

“Seek first to love and understanding will come.” Course In Miracles. Apply this principal within, and you let go to the magnificence waiting to be realized. Stop asking why you are feeling the way you do, and stop trying to fix the past. Your freedom and abundance is possible now.

It is an important first step to notice the pain within yourself, and not to repress it with food, blame, work etc. But once you do notice the discomfort, let go.

As a weed hits the cement it does not

As I have continued to practice asking the question, I opened up to more friends, community, financial abundance and opportunities. I still use the question today, but now it has become more of a way of being. Some days, when I asked the question, I didn’t want to fully engage, open up, or express Love...but I did it anyway. My ego wanted to hold on to the current framework about myself, others or life. We hold on to our opinions as a way of protecting ourselves. Even if those opinions about ourselves or others hurt horribly, we would rather be ‘right’ than peaceful.

This need to be ‘right’ comes from identifying as our past, and mistrusting our own magnificence. You are already worthy because Creation made you that way.

We defend and need to be ‘right’ when we think our past or emotions change who we are. Who you truly are, is always ‘right’, whole, beautiful and magnificent. It is humble and radical to accept you cannot change the magnificence you were born to be. This means nothing you have done, believe, will do, or can do, can change your innate goodness.

We need to be ‘right’ when we believe being ourselves is wrong. Believing we cannot express our real self and be supported, leads to thinking the true self is wrong. When we have conditioned ourselves to be what our family or society has wanted, we must defend the false self we have created.

Be accountable, but don’t identify as your past, story or pains. By expressing fully, you allow the past and pain to be the fertilizer to the next realization

of your innate divinity. As you FEEL and experience the real you expressing, you discover a YOU, that requires no defense.

We tend to fluctuate between love and fear energy from one moment to the next. When we live unconsciously, we allow the ego mind to be in charge.

The ego has been useful for thousands of years while we have been “asleep.” Its job is to “protect us” from re-experiencing hurtful situations. It’s that “automatic pilot” that triggers our reactions to stimuli based on our past.

It perpetuates the illusion that our lives are the result of “outside” stimuli happening uncontrollably to us. Ego judges our outer environment as good or bad and right or wrong, and it keeps us stuck in that continuous flip-flop of experiencing love then fear, love and fear, back and forth, back and forth.

It’s an unconscious dance of emotions.

The consciousness of humanity is now shifting. We are all being called to awaken from our “sleep” state of the dream we think is real, to the state of being the observer of our lives through the eyes of our Higher Self. Our Higher Self is the frequency of love and only love…nothing else is Real.

Just like the coin can be flipped to the other side in any given moment, we can flip fear over to love, flip the illusion over to what is Real It’s time to understand that we are each responsible for what we are choosing to experience. Ask and You Shall Receive There are many interpretations for the expression, “Ask and You Shall Receive”. In this case we are referring to asking your body what it needs and wants. Evaluations include a noninvasive assessment of nutritional deficiencies, diet, hydration status, hormone balance, immune function, and identifying food allergens and specific toxicities. individual’s recall. Have you ever not been able to come up with the answer during the exam but found afterwards you remembered what the answer was?

This problem is often referred to as test anxiety and it can be a serious problem.

Another problem could be a lack of confidence. You don’t devote the required time to prepare because you are convinced you won’t do well anyway.

If you had higher self-esteem, you would believe you could understand whatever was presented and you would allocate enough time to master the material.

Believe it or not, your self-esteem plays a large role in how well you will do on the exams and consequently on your grade point average.

Sometimes people don’t succeed in school because they have never been taught an effective way to study. Without the proper study skills, it’s as if you are trying to chop down a tree with a hammer instead of an axe. You won’t achieve the desired result. If you have never learned the proper way to study, you will be wasting a lot of time and you may not even recognize the most important points to remember.

As you can see, there are many factors involved in getting good grades in school. Sometimes, if you or your child are having trouble with a class, you can get tutoring. Unfortunately, if you have trouble in more than one class it could get very expensive. You must also consider time involved in going to see a tutor and having to arrange your schedule. In the end, there is still no guarantee that you will get a good grade even with the help of tutors. They may help you pass the course but that doesn’t guarantee getting a good grade.

You need to do better than just get by.

Like Attracts Like, so Choose Positively!

How often do we say, “That made me feel _____.” You can probably fill in the blank, remembering a time when you encountered a situation that evoked a feeling, positive or negative. We tend to avoid the experiences we judge will “make” us feel a negative emotion. This allowing ourself to be “made” to feel something gives our power of self-creation to others. Rather than being at the mercy of other’s behavior, we can practice and learn to direct the flow of emotional energy towards a more desired feeling while waking up to our own power of creation, given to us by our connection to Divine Source, the source of All. For example, when we mindfully choose to appreciate something, we are choosing to transform and control our own inner vibration and vibrational out-flow into the world. In choosing our own vibration, we are admitting our own power to affect our experience of life. We attract like vibration to like.

Unfortunately, it is human nature to want to be right, and so we unknowingly create situations according to our limited beliefs.

We are, after all, part of God/Source, and have the power to create our lives, mindfully or not.

If you would be willing, try this experiment by saying to yourself, “I feel good.” Just notice the uplift of vibration you receive. This power of transforming and lifting our vibration is ours, our divine ability when we choose to use it. It is our ability, even when we are unaware of using it in a mindless fashion. As we practice, we are able to easily and with less effort, transform our emotional vibration to one we feel is more pleasing.

When we are in reaction to others -- how we experience them seeing us, feeling about us, what they say about us -- we release our own control, handing our power over to them.

Often, we feel like a victim and this becomes a limited belief -- it feels more and more comfortable and becomes a pattern. The pattern becomes a habit, and then becomes the way we see the world -- what we create and attract to ourselves. It does not matter what others say or do, only how we choose to respond.

We don’t always know what led someone to say, do or think in a way that made us feel attacked, yet we do know it’s about both our and their path. We attracted them to us for a reason; to reflect our own inner thoughts about ourself. We attract the experiences we expect to receive and is in harmony with our vibration. Our vibration is our call out to the world, the universe and the All, our Creator. And, we will be given what we truly ask for and vibrate with.

In waking up to what we are attracting, we can choose to accept our own power to mindfully create our life experiences.

When we are dissatisfied with what we are attracting, we can change our vibration by finding something to be appreciative about. This raises our personal vibration and attracts experiences of harmonious vibration. We can even be appreciative regarding encounters that push our buttons as those encounters reflect back to us what we can work through in our own growth towards self-actualization and union with the Creator.

Focusing on how we feel as a guidepost to our own selfactualization, we gain mindful control of our own experience.

We are no longer at the mercy of the opinions or actions of others and can start achieving emotional balance. When we notice we are feeling a negative feeling, away from the love of the Divine, we can choose to uplift ourselves just by being appreciative of something, or saying something positive that we choose to feel, like, “I feel good.” Then check in -- chances are there will be a sift towards feeling good, a higher, more positive vibration, which then attracts positive experiences, which you can then choose to feel good about.

This good feeling, the positive vibration attracting positive experiences, becomes a cycle, a circuit bringing us more things to feel positive about and appreciate, having a snowball effect.

We are able to focus on fulfilling our highest potential towards self-actualization and oneness with our Creator. We lovingly fulfill our life goals and attract awesome experiences.

Mindfully choosing to be aware of the power that we have to change our vibration through our inner words and appreciation puts us on the path of greater experiences of happiness and fulfillment of our dearest desires.

Choosing to Thrive For thousands of years, the pervading belief system within the collective consciousness was that we needed to struggle to survive. One of the reasons for this belief system is that for a long time humans actually did have to spend most of their energy surviving. When you have to hunt for your food and protect yourself from wild animals, it is a necessity that your focus is on survival and protection. Even as technology transformed the way people were able to meet their basic needs (like grocery shopping instead of hunting), because of imbalances in power, most of the population still had to focus on just meeting their basic needs. It was not until recently (about 40-50 years or so) that another possibility in consciousness emerged. Instead of being focused on survival, this new possibility is about thriving and living a life that is alive with joy, fulfillment, creativity, and abundance.

The old paradigm is still present within the collective consciousness, but more and more people are waking up to see that instead of just surviving they can actually thrive. One of the ways the mind/ego resists this powerful truth is to get hooked into the old paradigm that is driven by fear and scarcity. From this perspective, there is never enough, we have to work hard at a job we don’t like to pay the bills, we are in competition with others, and we are all alone to get our needs met.

A great way to help shift from the old paradigm into the new paradigm is to remember that you are not alone. The ego wants you to think that you have no one to rely on but yourself. From this perspective, it can feel incredibly daunting to pursue meaningful work.

to either make it or break it. However, nothing could be further from the truth! When you commit to following your heart and doing work that is aligned with your unique gifts, you are supported by the universe in ways that the mind cannot understand. Spirit always moves in the direction of love, so when you are living a life of vitality, joy, and passion, you are fully supported

by All That Is. When we are living our passion, we provide the greatest gift to humanity. What is uplifting and life giving for one, is uplifting and life giving for all. A great affirmation (from Louise Hay) to align with this truth that you are fully supported on the path of the heart is, “I am open to receiving all the good that life has for me. Thank you life!” This helps to shift us into a state of receptivity. The truth is that we are always fully supported to live a life of passion and fulfillment, so it is just our resistance to receiving that blocks us from moving into this infinite stream of loving support.

This life experience no longer needs to be about surviving. We have reached a time in the evolution of our planet where we have the freedom to move beyond scarcity thinking and align with our heart and True Self, which are calling us to serve others through work that is so fulfilling, inspiring, and uplifting, that it does not even feel like work.

Another way to shift from the old paradigm of scarcity and fear into the new paradigm of love and abundance is to devote your life and work to serving the greatest good of all. When our work is focused on competition, gaining power and status, and looking out for number one, we cut ourselves off from the natural flow of life that seeks to support us. Instead, if we commit to doing work and living our lives in a way that serves the greatest good of not only ourselves, but all of life, then we align ourselves with a force of love that is infinite in its power.

The intention/prayer to align with this immeasurable presence of support and love is, “Spirit/God/Love/Life – Use my life to serve the greatest good of the one and the all.” A great book that talks more about this idea is called, “The Law of Divine Compensation” by Marianne Williamson.

They are similar looking to a turnip, however, organic rutabagas are sweeter than turnips.

The rutabaga belongs in a category of food that is very important in your diet called, root vegetables. These root vegetables, just as the name implies, are the root of the plant. Energetically this is very important. The more dense root part of the plant is compact and has a downward movement, considered yang energy.

The yang energy is your strengthening energy. It helps build your core to be strong. I observe that many people miss this category of strengthening, yang, energy foods in their diets. Most people like the more yin vegetables, which grow on top of the ground. (Lettuces, kale, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, and tomatoes.)

To create health and longevity in the body we need to consume both yin and yang energy foods. Balance is the key to health. Rutabagas are high in anticarcinogenic properties, vitamins A, B, C, potassium, phosphorus and calcium. They help aid in digestion and helpdetoxify the body. Rutabagas also feed and nurture the spleen, pancreas and stomach. Here is a couple simple ways to prepare them.

Carrot and Rutabaga Fries carrots rutabaga olive oil sea salt

Cut carrots and rutabaga into thin French fry pieces. Lay them single file on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle olive oil over vegetables and move them around a bit to make sure they are covered with oil.

Sprinkle sea salt over top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until fork tender and starting to brown.

Remove from oven and enjoy.
