Losing Weight Is Easy…

When you know what to do…

My sister told me about Dr. Reggish. She had digestive issues for along time. What Would You Like To Know?

If you have read some of the past articles I’ve written, you know that hypnosis can be very helpful for a large number of issues. These include, smoking cessation, weight loss, stress reduction, anxiety, including test anxiety, phobias, relationship problems, selfesteem, improving school and sports performance, increasing concentration, eliminating unwanted habits, and even nervous tics. And, it can also be used for so much more. If you read last months article, you learned that hypnosis can also help people get in touch with deepseated or subconscious core beliefs, and then help them release these negative beliefs.

There is another use for hypnosis however, that you are probably not aware of. Hypnosis can help people gain

access to higher realms or dimensions of consciousness. Some people call this level the Super Conscious level. People who have had a near death experience often reach this dimension. At this level there are what some people call angels, higher beings, guides, ascended masters, etc. It doesn’t matter what you call them; they will respond if you ask them for help.

Perhaps you are familiar with Edgar Cayce, also called the “Sleeping Prophet.” Edgar Cayce could go into a deep hypnotic trance and gain access to this super conscious realm. Cayce would go into a trance and discover what steps a person needed to take to cure his or her ailment. Practically all the individuals who followed his suggestions were able to find relief. Cayce was also able to get answers to non-health-related questions.

The reason I bring this up is to let you know what is possible with hypnosis.

The fact is that most of you are capable of accomplishing this same kind of feat.

With hypnosis, you can enter the Super Conscious realm and ask the guides almost any question you have about your life or about problems you are experiencing. In most every case, the guides are willing to talk to you and give you answers to the questions you ask. My earliest observations of the aura of our world included being aware of the deep peace and power in nature. aliveness and hope.

In recent decades, scientists have noticed a thinning of the ozone layer of the atmosphere of Earth. They blame the destruction of this layer on carbon emissions and other chemical bi-products.

I have inquired into this problem with the Earth’s spirit, my planetary healing spirit helpers, and God. Chemicals from industrial and personal use are about half of the cause; the other half is hatred and violence.

Just as chemicals eat away the atmosphere, so do spirits of hatred and acts of violence. This explains the holes that I found in the aura of some very bad neighborhoods in Detroit.

The aura of Earth has been weakened but will heal with help. In addition to being moderate in the ways we live, I was given some simple but extremely effective things we can do to assist her healing .

1) Forgiveness: - We can open our hearts to the Earth and to The Higher Power to ask forgiveness for the way that our personal and collective human lifestyle impacts the world negatively.

Asking forgiveness initiates healing. The Earth will hear you and it will help her to let go of wounds, and to heal.

- We can ask the Earth’s Higher Self to welcome God into all the places where human hatred and violence have damaged her, and the people, nature and creatures who have also been hurt. We can ask the spirit of forgiveness to heal and regenerate the aura of our planet.

- When you ask for forgiveness, it helps if you suspend judgment. So rather than blaming, simply allow your love for the world to be an invitation to the healing energy.

2) Thankfulness: - We can give thanks for the natural world and the atmosphere of Earth that provides for and sustains us. Expressing appreciation, gratitude and love are very generative acts. When we talk to a tree, a plant or an animal, telling them they are amazing or beautiful, they hear us and respond; their aura grows brighter and richer in color. Noticing the natural world around us, we can speak to it through our hearts and minds, out loud, or through caring acts to help encourage the bountiful life of the planet.

- When we consume food, products, fuel and enjoy our warm homes, we can give thanks to both the spirit and body of those things we consume.

Contemplating what went into the making of the things we eat or use, we can both ask forgiveness for harm done and give thanks. Thankfulness is a generative energy that strengthens the aura of our world and brings a clear, true vibration into life.

Astrological Overview for 2016 January: This year starts out powerfully with a New Moon in Capricorn and it’s near strong, determined Pluto. Make New Year’s resolutions about important issues. What patterns in your life do you truly want to change? Could this be addictions, destructive relationship patterns, unhealed emotional wounds, or behaviors that negatively impact your health? Instead of casual promises, make resolutions that come from a deep commitment to yourself and to your personal and spiritual growth.

Jupiter turns retrograde, helping you view your life with compassion. You’ll have inspired ideas about how to make changes. It’ll be fun to set out on your chosen path. You can begin meditating, practicing yoga, or eating more consciously.

Mercury is retrograde, which actually helps you be more introspective about the shifts you want to make, but it’s best to not talk about them too much. Choose one person who believes in you to keep you inspired and accountable. Don’t fritter energy away by talking. Make plans and take action so that you see tangible results!

The Full Moon on the 22nd can tempt you toward old patterns. Or, it can be a victory of standing up to negative thinking, realizing you have power over your fears and unconscious habits that previously led to unhappy outcomes!

March: On March 9th, there is a total eclipse at the New Moon in Pisces. It’s what’s called a “Super Moon”. This has a lot to do with breaking illusions that keep you from being fully powerful.

The effect of this eclipse lasts for six months. Think about how you create your reality through your thoughts and also by your expectations of what you’ve already experienced in life. The quantum field is infinitely vast, so how come you keep repeating the same small set of experiences? This eclipse pushes you to release a sense of victimization by life, and wakes you up to the truth that you “write your own script”.

Making daily gratitude lists lights up new parts of your brain. Dwelling on positive thoughts like, “How would I feel if I were truly happy and what would my life look like?”, stimulates fresh parts of your brain too, and trains you to feel like a new person! Persist in training your brain to think in new ways as you let go of the habits that keep you stuck in a tiny reality!

April: Both Mars and Saturn are retrograde in Sagittarius. Usually Sagittarius is an optimistic sign, but Mars likes to go fast (and certainly doesn’t want to go backwards!), and Saturn likes to be more careful. The result can be frustration and discouragement. Look at this as a check-in time — similar to race car drivers having a pit stop and getting their oil changed and whatever else the pit crew needs to do. In order to keep racing, a short rest is needed to be tuned up and ready for more. Be grateful the Universe is giving you time to check your plans and adapt to new circumstances.

Rearrange your thinking in order to have more success!

The Sun in Aries is always a good pick-me-up, as is the New Moon, and on the 7th they will be connecting with

innovative and enthusiastic Uranus.

Release old stuff that has built up. You’ll feel refreshed and ready for more fun, fulfillment and blessings!

May: Mercury is retrograde, but don’t despair! It can seem annoying since life details don’t go smoothly, technology can screw up, mechanical things get weird, and communication gets confusing. But Mercury is also about inner communication. So, the retrograde is about taking time to go within, to meditate, to ask for messages in dreams, and to reconnect with your source and center. Once this balance of the inner and outer world is re-established, you’ll see that outer issues aren’t as problematic during Mercury retrograde times, and you’ll stop dreading them!

(Mercury turns retrograde 3 or 4 times a year for about 3 weeks at a time.)

Jupiter moves direct, making it easier to reap rewards, feel positive and start new ventures with optimism. You’ll gain insights into exciting new ideas that unfold easily because they’re in harmony with your authentic self and effortlessly in alignment with others!

June: Ask others you trust for guidance and input. You’ll have lots of great ideas with the New Moon in Gemini on the 5th.

But Neptune, the planet of spirituality and creativity, as well as self-deception and fogginess, will be turning retrograde (something is always going retrograde, right?!). It’s a reminder to make sure you’re being led by your highest self, and not letting your frightened, or cocky, or otherwise limited self run the show. On the other hand, if you’re someone who always looks to others to validate your opinions and actions, you need to trust yourself and your intuition.

Also, challenge yourself about fears.

Mars is in Scorpio, asking you to gain power over some “paper tiger” in your consciousness. Maybe you need to ask someone on a date, go skydiving, or update your resume and prepare to look for a new job. Maybe you need to challenge negative recordings in your mind that hold you back from true

happiness. The Full Moon on the 20th brings courage, so plan your attack and defeat your fear!

July: The New Moon on the 4th of July also connects with Mercury and Pluto.

Observe yourself with family since you can find and overcome emotional triggers. You’ll avoid power struggles and also see the root of problems others have between themselves, offering insights to free them from negative cycles of relating. You’ll uncover solutions to money issues or work related challenges — and create compromises that meet everyone’s needs.

Later in the month, Mercury and Venus move into Leo, which makes for positive relationships. It’s easy to be warm-hearted and forgiving. Mercury and Venus make a harmonious angle to Saturn, and all three help for work advancement, prosperity and general feelings of accomplishment and selfesteem! Even better news is Mars moves direct and gives you lots of positive energy for your goals.

August: This exuberant month starts out with a New Moon on the 2nd that works with Mars and Saturn. You’ll feel grounded and focused, without being bored. It seems fun to get things done! If you’re starting a new relationship, you’ll be realistic while still feeling in love.

Current relationships can be renewed through a sense of mutual appreciation.

The Full Moon on the 18th works in an easy way with Uranus, the planet of new ideas, adventures and open-mindedness.

Kids feel enthusiastic about the impending school year. End of summer parties will be especially enjoyable. It’s a great time to be working out or exploring new ways of eating, so being healthy becomes interesting.

Venus moves into Virgo and it’s a great time to shop or redecorate. You’ll find great bargains easily, or high quality items that exactly fit your vision. But you won’t be tempted toward overextravagance or buy stuff you don’t really need.

September: Jupiter moves into Libra, greatly improving relationships, and selflove too. Jupiter has a twelve year orbit and stays in a sign for a year. It brings good karma and light-heartedness.

To get even more benefit form this placement, think about your values and ethics. The more your actions align with your beliefs, the more results you’ll have with very little effort. Life will seem magical and you’ll feel blessed. The more you give out what you want to receive, the more quickly blessings flow to you!

Mercury is retrograde in Virgo. Look at your critical thinking, whether about yourself, others, or life circumstances.

Focus on praising yourself and on thoughts of gratitude. This shift of thinking brings solutions to difficult challenges. By taking your mind off issues, answers come. Like Einstein said, “A problem cannot be solved from the consciousness that created it”.

October: Mars is in Capricorn. You’ll feel ambitious and easily accomplish your goals. Since the Sun is in Libra most of the month, there’s also an air of “plenty of success for everyone”, which eliminates the stress of competition and allows for mutual encouragement and camaraderie. The New Moon on the 1st is near positive Jupiter, helping you dream big, and the “can-do” spirit of Mars in Capricorn gets plans into action!

(Otherwise Jupiter can be a bunch of good ideas that just hang-out in the ethers!)

The Full Moon on the 30th works nicely with Neptune, the planet of spirituality and compassion. There can be a healing of addictions or puzzling patterns. You can find ways in which diametrically opposed people can work well together, either in families or in careers. If you’re artistic or musically inclined, you’ll find a lot of inspiration.

It’s also a great time to work with yoga, meditation or other metaphysical pursuits.

November: Venus is in Capricorn, improving finances. You’ll think clearly

Mercury is in Sagittarius, giving optimism and hope. The New Moon on the 29th works with Neptune, inspiring future plans and smoothing out relationships.

In addition, Neptune turns direct on the 19th (all planets except the Sun and Moon turn retrograde and direct, not just Mercury!) This restores trust in others and strengthens faith in yourself. You’ll feel more connected to your intuition and make choices with clarity and insight.

Mars is in Aquarius, producing a spirit of cooperation and connection with others.

Group projects at work go well, and you’ll feel more comfortable with your family too. It’s also great to do some sort of volunteer work or community service.

December: Uranus moves direct, creating enthusiasm about the impending New Year. You’re craving to be free of old habits and to be open to greater possibilities for your life. The Full Moon on the 14th increases the drive toward completion. Full Moons, by their nature, bring that sense of closure. December’s Full Moon is extra strong because of Saturn’s involvement. Saturn not only brings karma to a clear ending, but also offers wisdom about your life. Even if things have been hard, there’s a sense of gratitude and deep knowing about why you’ve experienced what you’ve been through.

Create a sort of ritual for the release of 2016, being grateful for everything, whether good or bad. Let go of the “woulda, coulda, shoulda’s”. Forgive the cruddy stuff. Envision a better future and be open to a greater quantum reality for 2017!

As we begin another New Year, let us remember that each day is precious. It is the day when all that has passed before us is gone, and all our future dreams can be created anew. This is the most important day in all your many lifetimes, for it is now. It is the day when we can choose to embrace love with our every thought, word and action.

Each day – and this New Year ahead - is a blank canvas.

There is stillness and quietude in the ethers as the new dawn arises. There is a feeling of possibility, of optimism, of hope and of expectancy. The days stretch out before us, as yet untouched by our desires, our choices, our mistakes and our achievements. There is a freshness of hours and minutes as yet untouched.

Let us regard the year ahead as an opportunity for deeper love. The urgency of this time of change requires that more of us become agents of positive change than ever before. It is essential now more than ever that awakened souls of every background and belief system, put their concern and love into action for the world.

Spirituality is not only the important theme of today, more potent than politics in bringing lasting change in the world, it also provides a fascinating path for us. As we awaken more fully to the divine spark within, we begin to glimpse our true strength and power. This is the same spark that we also share with the Sun, the stars and the galaxies. It is limitless in nature and fueled by the great preservative force of love. Within every life-stream, human or otherwise, is this same spark, urging for expression; dimly in some and with great strength in others.

I’ve always loved Sci-Fi movies, and was born in a wonderful, optimistic time when movies about the future were projected to be technologically advanced beyond our dreams, and conflicts were worked out through people coming together so that the world would survive. By the end of the movie, there was a renewed peace on Earth. In fact, I came into this world the year my favorite Sci-Fi movie was released, “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” This movie truly projected my hope for Earth’s future -- minus the cool spaceship and the spaceman played by Michael Rennie.

In this movie, his spaceship traveled to Earth from an undisclosed planet, landing on the front lawn of the White House. The spaceman explained that he came to our planet because the universal coalition of planets feared that the Earth was advancing in technology that could bring about space travel. This would mean that humans would start to bring their hateful, fear-based behavior to other planets and contaminate their populations.

He further explained that his planet belonged to a coalition of planets and was directed to warn us to either stop our fearful, hateful ways or be destroyed! The coalition had found a way to control this behavior on their planets, using a robot police force that had no view or opinions, but recognized bad or hateful behavior; if found, they would swiftly hand out a heavy punishment. Well, this sounded very drastic, but in the fear of being totally destroyed, everyone found a way for peace to rule their existence. The planets recognized that humans were yet again waging war against countries, religion, ideology and that prejudice was growing stronger with no room for tolerance, and with no end to the madness in sight.

WAIT... This is going on in real life!

Here we are starting 2016, and our planet is at an even higher level of intolerance than ever before. Prejudice has now reached a new level of unrest and now the intolerance and lack of compassion has moved across the Earth like a plague. People live with great fears of others, which has cause for an even greater divide than ever seen on this planet.

I remember from watching the old Sci-Fi movies that when there was a conflict that could endanger all mankind, there was a coming together despite our differences in order to fight off the threat. Now, only the mantra of hate and fear has replaced the advancement of Love and Peace on Earth.

In this time more than ever before, we need to come together, finding solutions to our issues. Instead of projecting fearful-based thinking, we can instead try to evolve beyond the lower level of fearful thinking so that we do not lose our souls to hate.

AMC cable network has a show that is very popular right now. In fact, it is one of the most popular shows on TV: “The Walking Dead”. I love this show because of the human survival aspect; it is a true social experiment of survival in the 21st Century. All the characters in this show are trying to fight against almost impossible odds. They are mindful of the need to be armed and ready for a Zombie to ruin their day, but they stay alert, focused, and do whatever they can not to harm anyone that is not a Zombie. In this show it is very easy to identify the Zombies and their threat, but in today’s world, we can’t identify the killers amongst us quite as easily.

However, we can stay within a peaceful, loving, non-prejudiced state of mind, while at the same time be alert and ready for a (terrorist or any person with ill intent) Zombie attack! We must be forearmed and ready, but not heartless, or they could easily turn us into one of the Zombies.

We live in a difficult time, but you must remember that even though we live in the world of tomorrow, we are also more responsible than ever before, to come together and conquer the hateful threats on society. What a test, God... I hope the world passes and graduates to a higher grade of tolerance before we all fail the test and devolve into a pool of muck and have to start over again. God, isn’t it strange how some people feel that this Earth we live on, with all of the beauty and love you gave us to enjoy, should be the place where the ugliness of the soul and killing of people should rule in the hopes that in death they will live in your blessing and joy… Pray in 2016 that we find peace and joy while living on God’s Earth.

New Beginnings Since Father Time can’t turn back the hands of time, the New Year is the perfect time to set new goals. The most typical goals are losing weight and getting more fit. If these are your New Year resolutions, I’ve got some pointers that may help.

A resolution is essentially a commitment you make to yourself. Make your commitments more powerful by writing them down. By looking at them often, you can help yourself stay on track. Maybe even post them on sticky notes on your refrigerator or anywhere else where you tend to look throughout the day.

Understand the motivation behind your resolutions. How did you come up with your resolutions? Are they truly your own? Or did you make them because your doctor or someone else suggested them? It’s extremely common for people to experience a major health crisis before making any type of lifestyle changes, so if you haven’t already done so, maybe it’s time to OWN your New Year resolutions!

Do you have any support from family members or friends who care about you? Do you know someone with similar goals? Shared resolutions can be very helpful as the buddy system works well in many situations.

If you already have your resolutions and understand your motivation behind them, you’re ready for the next step.

This involves putting your resolutions in a list form comprised of smaller goals.

When doing this, make sure these goals are realistic. In this way, they will be attainable and translate into a greater degree of success.

As you start experiencing success, the whole process becomes easier. However, if you’re not seeing success, don’t lose your enthusiasm.

Stay with the plan and don’t think of your goals as sacrifices. Instead, imagine that they are part of a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but continuing to play the game is what’s most important.

Devices such as a Fitbit that record and chart sleep patterns, physical activity, and food choices can help you become more aware of your habits and track your goals. If you are someone who thrives on prizes and has a smart phone or a computer, this kind of a device is probably for you. (I got a Serengeti on mine the other day -- woo hoo!) Competing with others in a group toward goals can also be helpful.

Now, on to the nitty-gritty of exercise… Be sure to warm-up before starting any form of exercise.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a competitive athlete, stretching and warming up is essential. Our physiology contains special cells called tendon stretch receptors. This tendon stretch receptor cell doesn’t turn on until your first stretch, because the body is very energy efficient and won’t waste energy on maintaining the vigilance of this cell monitor unless there is a need. Even dogs stretch before heading out for a walk. The tendon stretch receptors monitor the amount of pull on the ends of the muscles, called tendons, so that you don’t damage muscle or bone. Many injuries are sustained when stretching is neglected. Attend our Essential Exercises workshop to learn the best ways of stretching.

Be sure to pick an exercise wisely.

Running, jogging, sprinting, and walking are all noble forms of exercise but not

everyone should run. Running has been shown to result in a number of different degenerative injuries to many overly enthusiastic participants, especially those without the right footwear. Another surprising ill effect of running is that the level of ROS [reactive oxygen species] is higher. This means that the level of damaging free radical oxygen is higher due to the higher continued level of oxygen usage. The ROS ages your body faster. However, the severity of this problem is influenced by diet, toxin load, and genetics.

From a safety standpoint, walking is usually the best form of exercise.

Fast walking provides about 80% of the beneficial effects of running with less injury. People often run because they believe it to be the fastest way to get results. This is offset by injury and heart attack. Fast walking is a great way to start an exercise plan.

Free weight lifting is another excellent form of exercise. When lifting an appropriate amount of free weight, you engage both the primary muscles as well as smaller stabilizer muscles.

This doesn’t happen with weight machines that stabilize for you. A long burn time afterwards is an added bonus.

Burn time is the amount of time after an exercise that the body continues to burn energy at a greater rate than its present activity level. We also have advanced classes in this area for patients that have completed the basic stretching and are at a certain level of daily activity in that area.

The above activities are a great entry point into exercise although there are lots of activities that can help you achieve your goals. Pool exercises are especially good for people that have had debilitating injuries. Water activities can be enjoyable as well as challenging.

Two little boys stole a big bag of oranges from a neighbor.

They decided to go to a quiet place to share the lot equally.

One of them suggested the nearby cemetery.

As they were jumping over the gate to enter the cemetery, two oranges fell out of the big bag but they didn't bother to pick them since they had enough in the bag.

A few minutes later, a drunk man on his way home from a bar passed near the cemetery gate and heard a voice saying: "One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you."

He immediately sobered up and ran as fast as he could to a church nearby.

"Father, please come with me. Come and witness God and Satan sharing corpses at the cemetery."

They both ran back to the cemetery gate and the voice continued: "One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you.

Suddenly, the voice stopped counting and said: "What about the two at the gate?"

Hands-on, ghost hunting experiences open to the public I have experienced some "strange occurrences" growing-up, such as seeing dead relatives in dreams, having dreams that were precognitive, and apparently talking to dead people (according to my sister).

These things seemed normal to me at the time. As I got older, I learned that my mother was a "witch", my great aunt read tea leaves, and many more interesting facts about my family.

As time passed, I used science to rationalize and dismiss these childhood occurrences. When I began my career as a nurse, I again started having strange things happen that I couldn't dismiss so easily.

I worked with comatose dying patients that would suddenly become lucid and start talking to loved ones that were deceased. How is this possible? What did these patients experience as they were passing over? What is on the other side? Were these "ghosts" that they were talking too? I had so many questions. And come to find out, so did my sister.

She also had her own strange events and wanted to know answers. We both decided to see if we could find these answers together. We started learning about paranormal investigation. And after doing a few ghost hunts, on our quest we realized that there were many others like us.

We decided to form GHS Paranormal Team -- but we were different. We wanted to give others the opportunity to explore and look for answers with us. That's when our "hands- on" ghost hunting started. We provide an informative, hands-on, real ghost hunting experience all year round. We find the locations that have claimed paranormal activity and conduct public ghost hunts with you -- the public. A Season Which Becomes an Everyday Reason The Holiday Season is a time of hope, celebration and forgiveness while holding on to the spirit of joy and good will to man. What is it that brings out such a change in the hearts of people? The shift begins shortly before Thanksgiving and seems to pick-up momentum as it gets closer to Christmas.

Something magical happens as somehow we begin to picture outside our own needs, wants and concerns. We start to view mankind with a different set of glasses, making the world shine a little brighter during this time of year.

We often find ourselves in a whirlwind of turkey dinners, Christmas lights, family gatherings and greetings of “Happy Holidays!” and “Merry Christmas!” All of these things bring about wonderful feelings, yet often we find ourselves not recognizing the true meaning of the holiday season. This time of year brings out the best in people --kindness, generosity and good will to one another, as well as the charitable side of mankind and the innocence of children.

The Holiday season is behind us, though the spirit of what it brings can still resonate within us as we begin the New Year.

Some of us have made a New Year’s resolution to establish change within ourselves.

At this time, I would like to suggest that the good will of the season continues by our doing random acts of kindness each month for a stranger. From getting someone a cup of coffee to paying a strangers toll on the highway as you pass through -- doing something that has no strings attached, yet provides that miracle charm that is part of every holiday season, in the smallest and brightest way.

Feeling joy is feeling God and Life moving in, as, and through you. No matter what you have done, or didn’t do… you deserve to be happy. Your suffering does not help anyone.

Being poor, sick, or tired from working so hard does not make you a better person.

Shame is self-attack or self-hate. We all have it. The only question is, do you have the willingness to face it as you embrace your dreams? We deny our desires to avoid shame.

Settling can “help” to not have to face the grief of when we compromised ourselves, disrespected ourselves, and betrayed our inner voice. We eat half a meal pretending we are full, and then painfully add mental stories that we missed our opportunity or that a good life is just not possible.

Denying dreams and desires means living as the walking dead. Listening to the impulse of your soul, and following

that moment to moment guidance to do what brings you alive, takes your continual choice. You always have a choice: “Do I follow what feels right in my heart, or do I do what ‘they’ expect?”

Some are so full of needing others’ approval that admitting their true dreams would be the death of their identity. The process of becoming who you are, is a process of letting go to the innate brilliance you have always been. Can you do what is aligned with you, even if your spouse, friends or church dis-agrees?

Do you know you have the voice of God within YOU? Are you listening?

Let go. Feel your dreams as real within your being.

Playfully ask “why?” you want these things. You will discover the noble truth of your desire; that all you desire is about you becoming more of you--more embodied Love. And, at the same time, we need the experience. The journey within the external world calls forward more God/Love/Life... through us, and through the alchemy of desire.

A GIFT - FOR ME? Yes, why not give yourself a gift in this New Year and in this New Age? Only you can truly know what you need or want. I’ve noticed how hard it seems for us to include ourselves, to consider our own feelings and needs. During the last 3-plus decades, most of the people I’ve worked with have discovered that an important part of becoming happy and whole is learning how to tune-in to what is going on inside their hearts, minds and bodies. This is the opposite of the outside-in approach that they learned, believing it was more important what other people thought of them.

We are now living in an Age that brings with it higher frequencies and higher levels of consciousness. Because of this, it is easier to know what is right and authentic. What is next for us?

You are a unique complete expression of God. You are God. Everything has been given to you. You are either a co-creator of your life, or a victim. Cruel things do happen.

However, how you interpret these events means heaven or hell within your own heart. Everything happens for your greatest good, IF you choose to see it this way--(that life is for you).

A lot of people I know are ready to create a new reality in one or more parts of their lives. As our consciousness grows and expands, our vibrational frequencies increase. We then wonder why our vocations, friends, partners, homes or lifestyles feel confining or uncomfortable, when they once fit perfectly. In my article last month, Left Brain - Right Brain, I described the way the integrated brain uses these higher frequencies to help us move beyond the habit/pattern of left-brain-only solutions.

Stop trying to prove to others your dreams are real. Your dream is an evolutionary calling to become more yourself. Stop trying to get one person to be your world. Stop thinking your job is your only source of income. There are many, many doors of good wanting to come to you if you can only stop staring at the one door.

If I had an extra day to myself every week, what would I do that doesn’t involve the concept of “should"?

Turn on the light now. Give permission to the love, joy, beauty, and brilliance within you now. Give permission to your dreams. You have a choice to say yes to life, or no. This is your free will. Choose Yes. Please choose Yes. The world needs your shine!

What things do I want to learn about?

If I move to a different house, what would it be like?

“At the time, I had no idea about the profundity of what was happening. Life was pretty good—sunny California skies, a vintage car, a fun job, friends—but things weren’t going well with my boyfriend and deep down inside, it felt like something was missing, something beyond boyfriends and things, but I had no idea what it might be or where or how to find it.

Silently, within, I found myself asking, Why am I here?

I was barely aware that I was even questioning, and certainly never considered that someone might actually be listening. But evidently, someone was,” says Kathy.

Within a few months, she heard about meditation and the inner journey. Instantly, she knew that this was the answer she was seeking.

“No doubt about it,” she says. “Just hearing about the importance of turning within through meditation and coming to know one’s self in this way, resonated at the core of my being.”

What she soon discovered was that both her question and the answers that she received, were the very heart of yogic teachings that date back thousands of years, and are replete in numerous spiritual texts from around the world.

Within a year, Kathy sold her few possessions and traveled to India, where she immersed herself in meditation and the study of yogic teachings. For the next six years, she lived full-time in meditation centers in India

and the USA. “It was one of the greatest times in my life,” she says. “I loved every minute of it. It has now been over 39 years, and meditation still remains a focal point in my life.”

In 2005, she founded Present Moment Meditation™ and since then has been leading classes, workshops and retreats, teaching and guiding others on their own path of self-discovery. In 2009, she released a CD, Living in the Present Moment: Everyday Tools & Practices.

“It’s the most extraordinary experience to share with others,” says Kathy. “It’s so simple—sitting quietly in a chair with eyes closed and attention turned inward—and yet, at the same time it is a practice that can manifest profound results in a person’s life. According to Kathy, taking time during the day to meditate, even if only for a few minutes, can make a tremendous difference. “Find the time that works best for you—before work, during lunch, after work or before bedtime—take 10-15 minutes to sit comfortably, close your eyes and breathe easy. It’s also very centering, which is highly beneficial as we run from dawn to dusk managing responsibilities and juggling numerous tasks.”

The beauty of Kathy’s approach is that in addition to sitting meditation, she

also teaches practical, user-friendly tools that can be used throughout the day as we go about our everyday activities. “That’s when we need it the most. We live in stressful times, but if we can learn to stay present—to take one moment at a time, one challenge at a time, one uncertainty at a time—it can make a world of difference in how we feel about ourselves, relationships and life in general.”

To Start A New Year

Sit quietly for a moment until you feel relaxed. Then focus your attention on the crown of the head (which represents the Christ center) and think a thought similar to this:

Lord, let this year be filled with the things that are truly good—with the comfort of warmth in our relationships, with the strength to help those who need our help and the humility and openness to accept help from others.

The Christ of God is quickened in me!

You Can and Do Always Get What You Want. Achieve More This New Year!

You may recall the famous Rolling Stones song, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Despite our best efforts, we don’t always seem to get what we want. The reason is simple. There is a struggle going on within you that conflicts with what you consciously want.

Let’s explore this struggle and what you can do to achieve more in the New Year.

What you consciously want represents only about 10% of your wanting. The other 90% is in the subconscious and with a 90/10 weighting in its favor, the subconscious usually wins. This is why it seems like you (the conscious mind) doesn’t get what you want, but you as the subconscious mind does get what it wants. Since we are a whole person comprised of both the conscious and subconscious minds, this contradiction can be frustrating and make it harder for you to realize what you wish to consciously manifest. The solution is simple. Bring the conscious and subconscious into alignment.

You may believe you do not know what is in your subconscious, but you do. Everyone knows what is in their subconscious by looking at what they are experiencing in life.

If you are experiencing lack, then your subconscious beliefs are likely to contain thoughts of poverty or unworthiness or the belief that money is the root of all evil. If you find that getting results is hard and requires great effort, then you may have a belief that life is hard or anything worthwhile must take effort.

These are simply beliefs you have bought into, most likely through parental and societal conditioning. The good news is that if you wish to change your life, you can simply change what

you believe. You can believe you are worthy of abundance. You can believe all life comes to you with ease. You can believe you are healthy.

You just need to change the way you are thinking. Because you have a lifetime of thinking, change can be challenging. Your worldview has become a habit and habits can be hard to change.

This is what you can do: 1). Acknowledge you have created the life you have through your thinking.

2). Know that any thought can be uncreated and replaced with a new one.

The power of these acknowledgments should not be underestimated. When you do these two things you have acknowledged yourself as a powerful creator and you have given yourself hope. The rest is easy.

3). Identify what it is that you would like to change. If you want more ease in your life, then create thoughts that life is easy.

4). Uncreate what was created.

Declare, “I uncreate all thoughts of hardship and difficulty!” Repeat throughout the day and in meditation.

5). Affirm the new thought, “Life comes to me with ease and grace!”

Repeat throughout the day and in meditation.

6). Be consistent, persistent and patient. Your old ways of thinking took a lifetime to create. It is likely to require a little bit of time to uncreate it. Keep at it.

Have faith. Do not be dismayed when experiences relating to your old ways of thinking continue to show up. The universe is testing you. The seeds have been planted; continue to nourish them.

7). Amp up the process. While affirmations are creative and powerful, the process can be greatly accelerated.

Some suggestions are: a). Work with an Access BARS practitioner. BARS helps

reprogram thinking. b). Use Ho’oponopono. “I Am Sorry. Please Forgive Me. Thank You. I Love You.” Time does not allow us to explore why this works. Just have faith that it does. c). Conscious Breathing.

Nothing in your life can change without a change in the way you breathe. The creative process and the breath move hand in hand. They are one. The breath moves vast amounts of energy that is under your conscious control. It is the catalyst to accelerate rapid change, because negative and limited thinking cannot exist in its high vibration state.

Such thoughts simply weaken and disintegrate. Because the breath is both destroyer and creator, breathe life into your new belief ...“Life comes to me with ease and joy!” d). Meditate. Meditation places you in a state of allowing, and thoughts become just thoughts. Without attachment, the power of limited thinking is diminished. The subconscious becomes clear and the abundance of the universe can easily flow into and through you.

Faith—The ability to believe, intuit and perceive.

New Year to Look Over Your Shoulder

Disciple: Peter represents faith in things spiritual, faith in God. The corresponding color is blue and the location is the center of the brain.

Awaken Your Faith Faculty Of all the faculties, the one Jesus spoke of most frequently was faith. … Have faith. Believe. Trust. Over and over, Jesus emphasized this first of our powers, and in one of his disciples, we watch the faculty develop.

Faith does not come all at once with a mighty thud. It must grow. It must be encouraged. It must be invited and then made welcome. As Simon, the crude fisherman, became Peter, the dedicated apostle, so the ability to trust God must grow in our lives.

Faith has been defined in many ways. The writer of Hebrews referred to it as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Heb. 11:1). Understood in this light, faith is that quality in us which enables us to look past appearances of lack, limitation or difficulty, to take hold of the divine idea and believe in it, even though we do not see any evidence of it except in our minds. Through faith we know with an inner knowing the Truth that has not yet expressed itself in our manifest world. …

The location of the faith center is significant. It is in the center of the head, between the ears and the eyes. When we put our faith in that which we see with our eyes or hear with our ears, we are using the faculty in a limited way and the results will come accordingly.

However, we can center the faculty of faith on our inner vision and our inner hearing, developing this faculty through prayer to know the potential God has given us. And when we do, our results will express the higher realization of our spiritual nature.

At its highest level, faith is directed by our spiritual nature, from the Christ center at the crown of the head. We determine the direction of our faith, and as we do, we determine the results that we will have in our lives. …

In developing the quality of faith, we must start as Peter did, by being receptive to Truth ideas and letting them grow in us until we can feel our absolute oneness with the quality of faith—feel in such a way that we no longer think in terms of having faith, but express it automatically, as Jesus did.

It is the perfect time for most of us to sit down and come up with some decent resolutions for the New Year -- lose weight, quit smoking, etc. But when it really comes down to it, how many of us can honestly say that we have stuck to our resolutions? So, we take a different approach or at least in my case, a completely new approach and try to create a resolution that is possible to achieve; and in case it isn't, well, it is such a large manifestation that we cannot be held accountable if it is not achievable.

For example, in the past few years I have put out larger New Year's resolutions such as to find love or to be open to the love around me, a new home, being healthier without specifics, etc. These are large manifestations that are achievable but if they do not occur it is easy for me to say, "Well, maybe next year."

I love hearing all the experts give advice on how to stick with these resolutions, such as, "Here are ten steps to help you stick to the resolutions you have made." Really?

Now, not only do I have to stick with a resolution which is work in itself, but now you want me to do ten more steps to help stick with the original goal? As humans, we start adding up and calculating the work and we give up before we even start.

So, taking all of this into account, how many of us dread the New Year, one of the best times of the year? The energy is all new, it is a great time spiritually to open up and create new manifestations, fresh energy and to even clean out the old. However, how do we create these manifestations healthily without feeling pressured, or looking at it like it has now become a second full time job?

The answer hit me the other day when I heard someone say on TV, "Who are you when no one is looking?" Just like a ton of bricks this quote hit me in the forehead.

Something so small can be so much food for thought .

When no one is looking, when you are completely in your own state of comfort, who are you? Take a few minutes to let this sink in, all the way to your toes. What habits do you have, what do you always find yourself doing?

Now that you are truly asking yourself this question, now ask yourself, "Are you happy with that?" If, when you are

at home and no one is watching, you are downing a box of chocolate, are you happy with that? How about if you are at home and you are obsessively cleaning the house, are you happy with that? Who are you when no one is watching and if you are not happy with that person, then pick something small to work on changing.

It does not have to be big, or huge, but it can be something just for you. Instead of making a huge change, ask yourself, "Who are you when no one is watching?" Put yourself within your own thoughts and you can create the best change for yourself. Remember, it takes twenty-one days to break or create a habit. So give yourself some slack, work on being you and remember, always love you!

A Fresh Look at New Year’s Resolutions Each New Year we are gifted with a fresh start. With the prior year ending and a new one beginning, it’s like we are presented with a blank canvas, on which we can paint whatever is most alive for us in the newness of the moment. We have an opportunity to release what unfolded in the previous year and to call in what inspires us as we begin this next 365-day cycle. Regardless of what was present in our lives when the year ended, this new beginning holds the promise of possibility and invites us to dream new dreams, and to live into the most authentic expression of who we are.

In keeping with the energy of new possibilities, the New Year often inspires us to make resolutions that may improve or enrich our lives in some way. Some popular resolutions are to lose weight, eat healthier, get in shape, quit smoking, volunteer, spend more time with family, travel to a new place, save money, or learn something new.

When resolutions are inspired from an inner place of self-love and a desire to create a healthier and more fulfilling life, it can be very enriching and beneficial to dedicate our time and energy to meeting these goals. However, oftentimes we make New Year’s resolutions from a place of self-judgment, with the belief that we would be better or more lovable if we weighed less, were in better shape, quit smoking, volunteered more, etc.

A resolution that comes from a place of self-judgment ultimately leads to suffering. This is because if we don’t accomplish our resolution, it’s likely that we will feel even more judgment about ourselves. Even if we do accomplish our resolution, the painful feelings that we are not enough as we are will still be there. This sometimes leads us to thinking that if we could just do more and be more, then we will finally be ok.

If you notice that self-judgment is motivating you to make certain resolutions, it can be a revolutionary act of self-love to release those resolutions and consider different possibilities. For example, instead of resolving to lose weight (if it’s motivated by self-judgment), you could try to say something positive to your self every morning in the mirror.

This resolution shifts from a focus on weight loss and performance to an act of self-love.

While New Year’s resolutions have the potential to improve our lives, they do not add to our value or worthiness.

Whether a person loses weight (or not), quits smoking (or not), volunteers (or not), he/she is lovable and valuable.

No resolution can add or detract from one’s value. Our worth is constant and unchanging from the moment we are born until the day that we transition from this body…and beyond. Nothing that happens from our first breath to our last can increase or decrease our worth.

As this New Year begins, remember that while resolutions can be beneficial, nothing you do can change the fact that you are enough. You have always been, are now, and will always be.

The History of the New Year Civilizations around the world have been celebrating the start of each new year for at least four millennia. Today, most New Year’s festivities begin on December 31 (New Year’s Eve), the last day of the Gregorian calendar, and continue into the early hours of January 1 (New Year’s Day). Common traditions include attending parties, eating special New Year’s foods, making resolutions for the new year and watching fireworks displays.

EARLY NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS: The earliest recorded festivities in honor of a new year’s arrival date back some 4,000 years to ancient Babylon. For the Babylonians, the first new moon following the vernal equinox—the day in late March with an equal amount of sunlight and darkness— heralded the start of a new year. They marked the occasion with a massive religious festival called Akitu (derived from the Sumerian word for barley, which was cut in the spring) that involved a different ritual on each of its 11 days. In addition to the new year, Atiku celebrated the mythical victory of the Babylonian sky god Marduk over the evil sea goddess Tiamat and served an important political purpose: It was during this time that a new king was crowned or that the current ruler’s divine mandate was symbolically renewed.

Throughout antiquity, civilizations around the world developed increasingly sophisticated calendars, typically pinning the first day of the year to an agricultural or astronomical event. In Egypt, for instance, the year began with the annual flooding of the Nile, which coincided with the rising of the star Sirius. The first day of the Chinese new year, meanwhile, occurred with the second new moon after the winter solstice.

JANUARY 1 BECOMES NEW YEAR’S DAY: The early Roman calendar consisted of 10 months and 304 days, with each new year beginning at the vernal equinox; according to tradition, it was created by Romulus, the founder of Rome, in the eighth century B.C. A later king, Numa Pompilius, is credited with adding the months of Januarius and Februarius.

Over the centuries, the calendar fell out of sync with the sun, and in 46 B.C. the emperor Julius Caesar decided to solve the problem by consulting with the most prominent astronomers and mathematicians of his time. He introduced the Julian calendar, which closely resembles the more modern Gregorian calendar that most countries around the world use today.

As part of his reform, Caesar instituted January 1 as the first day of the year, partly to honor the month’s namesake: Janus, the Roman god of beginnings, whose two faces allowed him to look back into the past and forward into the future.

Romans celebrated by offering sacrifices to Janus, exchanging gifts with one another, decorating their homes with laurel

branches and attending raucous parties. In medieval Europe, Christian leaders temporarily replaced January 1 as the first of the year with days carrying more religious significance, such as December 25 (the anniversary of Jesus’ birth) and March 25 (the Feast of the Annunciation); Pope Gregory XIII reestablished January 1 as New Year’s Day in 1582.

NEW YEAR’S TRADITIONS: In many countries, New Year’s celebrations begin on the evening of December 31—New Year’s Eve—and continue into the early hours of January 1.

Revelers often enjoy meals and snacks thought to bestow good luck for the coming year. In Spain and several other Spanish-speaking countries, people bolt down a dozen grapes-symbolizing their hopes for the months ahead-right before midnight. In many parts of the world, traditional New Year’s dishes feature legumes, which are thought to resemble coins and herald future financial success; examples include lentils in Italy and black-eyed peas in the southern United States. Because pigs represent progress and prosperity in some cultures, pork appears on the New Year’s Eve table in Cuba, Austria, Hungary, Portugal and other countries. Ring-shaped cakes and pastries, a sign that the year has come full circle, round out the feast in the Netherlands, Mexico, Greece and elsewhere. In Sweden and Norway, meanwhile, rice pudding with an almond hidden inside is served on New Year’s Eve; it is said that whoever finds the nut can expect 12 months of good fortune.

Other customs that are common worldwide include watching fireworks and singing songs to welcome the new year, including the ever-popular “Auld Lang Syne” in many English-speaking countries. The practice of making resolutions for the new year is thought to have first caught on among the ancient Babylonians, who made promises in order to earn the favor of the gods and start the year off on the right foot. (They would reportedly vow to pay off debts and return borrowed farm equipment.)

In the United States, the most iconic New Year’s tradition is the dropping of a giant ball in New York City’s Times Square at the stroke of midnight. Millions of people around the world watch the event, which has taken place almost every year since 1907. Over time, the ball itself has ballooned from a 700-pound iron-and-wood orb to a brightly patterned sphere 12 feet in diameter and weighing in at nearly 12,000 pounds.

Various towns and cities across America have developed their own versions of the Times Square ritual, organizing public drops of items ranging from pickles (Dillsburg, Pennsylvania) to possums (Tallapoosa, Georgia) at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

We only need to look at a popular saying and the title of a book written by Rev. Terry Cole-Whittaker for the solution when dealing with these kind of people: “What you think of me is none of my business.”

Recipe for a Happy New Year Take twelve fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate, cleanse them completely from every clinging spite; pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness; in short, see that these months are freed from all the past— have them fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time. Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts.

Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot this way) but prepare one day at a time.

Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work (some people omit this ingredient and so spoil the flavor of the rest), hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad dressing— don’t do it), prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

As a therapist, I would try to work on these problems to force a choice. It never worked. Invariably, the client would go round and round in circles. They would ponder one choice and then fear the consequences. They then would consider the other choice and fear the consequences of that decision; it is not so much a task of logic, but an inability to face the loss and fear that comes with choosing one pole or the other.

Several years ago, I discovered affirmations. Affirmations are goalsetting statements. When we adopt an affirmation, it propels us toward a sought after goal. Each morning after my meditative period, I pray. My prayer entails an affirmation that I serve my client’s needs rather than my own. During the day when my mind wanders or I am tempted by my own devils of fear, greed, and anger, I cite my affirmation to bring me back to the task at hand. I set my personal problems aside in order to truly give to others.

Goal setting affirmations help us to define our dilemmas on a higher plane.

Rather then viewing our dilemma through the prison of our own needs, we see our dilemma as filtered through a higher goal, a goal of self-actualization.

Begin with this core affirmation. Ask yourself “Who do I want to be?” If I try to conceptual my core desires, in respect to my most cherished values, where would that take me? Think about core values such as honesty, integrity, love, compassion, wisdom, creativity, fairness, humility, and gratitude. Which are most important to you? You can tell by trying each on, and seeing how they feel. If a value really resonates, it will activate

strong feelings in us. Think about how you wish to be valued by others. What is an image that you want to project? How would you like to be remembered? What is your value legacy?

Once you have synthesized a core-valued image, apply it to life decisions. Instead of asking yourself, “Which should I choose?” Ask yourself, “Who do I want to be, and which choice brings me closer to that ideal self?”

We can define our dilemma in terms of our momentary desires, according to pain or pleasure, and if done, we will likely wind up dissatisfied. Or, we can define our dilemma in more spiritual terms. How do I cultivate my higher self, and how can I use this conflict to be a better person? When we cultivate the higher self, it serves as a springboard for longterm happiness. When we cultivate the higher self, it transforms our ego decisions into a spiritual quest.

DESIRE An emperor was coming out of his palace for his morning walk when he met a beggar. He asked the beggar, "What do you want?"

The beggar laughed and said, "You are asking me as though you can fulfill my desire!"

The king was offended. He said, "Of course I can fulfill your desire. What is it? Just tell me."

And the beggar said, "Think twice before you promise anything."

The beggar was no ordinary beggar, he was the emporers past life master. He had promised in that life, "I will come and try to wake you in your next life. This life you have missed but I will come again." But the king had forgotten completely -- who remembers past lives? So he insisted, "I will fulfill anything you ask. I am a very powerful emperor, what can you possibly desire that I can not give to you?"

The beggar said, "It is a very simple desire.

You see this begging bowl? Can you fill it with something?"

The emperor said, "Of course!" He called one of his viziers and told him, "Fill this mans begging bowl with money." The vizier went and got some money and poured it into the bowl, and it disappeared. And he poured more and more, and the moment he would pour it, it would disappear. And the beggging bowl remained always empty.

The whole palace gathered. By and by the rumor went throughout the whole capital, and a huge crowd gathered. The prestige of the emperor was at stake. He said to his viziers, "If the whole kingdom is lost, I am ready to lose it, but I cannot be defeated by this beggar."

Diamons and pearls and emeralds, his treasuries were becoming empty.The begging bowl seemed to be bottomless. Everything that was put into it -- everything! -- immediately disappeared, went out of existence.

Finally it was the evening, and the people

were standing there in utter silence.

The king dropped at the fet of the beggar and admitted his defeat. he said, "Just tell me one thing. You are victorious - but before you leave, just fulfill my curiousity. What is the beging bowl made of?"

The beggar laughed and said, "It is made up of the human mind. There is no secret. It is simple made up of human desire."

This understanding transforms life.

Go into one desire -- what is the mechanism of it? First there is a great excitement, great thrill, adventure. you feel a great kick. Somehting is going to happen, you are on the verge of it.

And then you have the car, you have the yacht, you have the house, you have the woman, and suddenly all is meaningless again.

What happens? Your mind has dematerialised it. The car is standing in the drive, but there is no excitement anymore. The excitement was only in getting it. You became so drunk with the desire thah you forgot your inner nothingness. Now the desire is fulfilled, the car in the drive, the woman in your bed, the money in your bank account - again excitement disappears. Again the emptiness is there, ready to eat you up. Again you have to create another desire to escape this yawning abyss.

That's how one moves from one desire to another desire. That's how one remains a beggar. Your whole life proves it again and again -- every desire frustrates. And when the goal is achieved, you will need another desire.

The day you understand that desire as such is going to fail comes the turning point in your life.

The other journey is inwards. move inwards, come back home.

FOOD OF THE MONTH: Tofu Tofu is a harmless bean curd made from soybeans, so why are so many people afraid of it? Maybe because they have tasted a dish made using the wrong kind of tofu, and/or it was not properly seasoned or cooked. When used in the correct way, tofu can be very tasty and can be used to create all kinds of different dishes. The key to cooking with tofu is that it has no real flavor on its own, so it will take on whatever tastes you add to it when creating a dish. Always make sure you add salt, or a salty ingredient, and make sure to cook the tofu. The cooking process will enhance the flavor and make the tofu easier to digest.

Tofu Quiche Crust:

1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup water pinch sea salt 1 1/2 cups oat flour Tofu Filling: 1 lb. firm fresh tofu 1 T. tamari 1 T. fresh grated turmeric (or 1/4 tsp. dried turmeric)

Five-thousand year old texts describe the soybean as one of the most important crops in China. And for good reason -- high in protein, iron and B vitamins, soybeans can also help support detoxification, improve circulation, and have many anti-cancer properties. It is a food that has been eaten for thousand of years and has been proven through time to be a healthy food for the human species to consume.

1 T. sea salt

There is a lot of information out there claiming that soy food is bad for us to consume. But do not get confused; the bad stuff is refined and processed, such as soy flour, soy flakes and soy isolates (TSP textured soy protein). I do not use these products in my cooking. And when purchasing tofu and other soybean products, always buy organic. Unfortunately, a large percentage of the soybean crops have been genetically engineered.

Using the correct type of tofu is also important to create the correct texture for your dishes. I use the fresh, firm, tofu packed in water, found in the refrigerator section, for almost all my recipes. If you can find a local producer of tofu, that is best; the fresher the tofu the better the texture and taste. This Tofu Quiche recipe is full of flavor, colorful, and sure to surprise some people who claim to be afraid of tofu.

1 tsp. basil 1/4 cup water 1/2 onion (diced) 1 carrot (diced small) 1/2 zucchini (diced small) 1 cup chopped mushrooms

To make crust, mix together the water, olive oil and sea salt. Add the oat flour and mix together until you get a firm dough that sticks together. Form it into a flat disc, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour. Meanwhile, sauté each of the vegetables, one at a time, in a little olive oil and sea salt, until soft. Put vegetables into a large bowl. Place the tofu, tamari, turmeric, sea salt, basil, and water in a food processor and puree until smooth. Add the tofu mixture with the vegetables. Roll out the crust dough in-between two pieces of plastic wrap. Put into an oiled pie dish. Bake crust for 5 minutes at 350 degrees. Put filling into crust and continue to bake for 45 minutes. Let sit for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.

Write Your Own Story Our stories are often being written before we are ever born.

The story starts with our parents and family. Fantasies of a smart kid, a happy kid, a prim and proper one, or... even the “I hope you have a kid like you some day...”

Parents and others are unmindful, unaware of the stories they are writing on our behalf, yet you can learn to write your own; see things, experience events and thoughts in your own way. That’s why siblings experience their parents slightly different, why some handle school and friends differently. Why some see life full of wonderful adventure, and some see life as a trial of doom.

Our blueprints for life are usually based upon how we perceive our parents and what they say, and possibly from past life experiences. Every minute, every second of our lives, we are encoding, programming our wonderful computer minds, our biocomputers, with information. Yes, we memorize facts, experiences. We also subconsciously take in EVERYTHING WE EXPERIENCE and choose how we are going to perceive that experience. Again, most of this can be subconsciously. In those internal choices, we continue to write our stories, usually in a mindless fashion, without conscious intent or thought.

These thoughts, these stories and programs, determine how we experience life. Do you like your story? Is it evolving in a way that is pleasant for you? Are you writing a happy one full of love and joy?

What we often end up doing is taking our story from the past that we know and putting it into our future. We tend to fear the unknown. By subconsciously bringing our past into our future, we avoid the unknown; even if that past is unknown in our conscious mind and only resides in our subconscious. Even if we know it consciously and it is undesirable, without conscious, deliberate and mindful diligence, we tend to bring it into our present, into our future. Ever wonder why you find yourself in the same situations as before? You have subconsciously brought your own past into your present, and are on the way to bringing it into your future.

There are ways of changing your future, changing your now. One is by keeping a daily mood log. You can start easily, simply by recording the event that caused distress. We tend to be more aware of our distress than our happy, calm... isn’t that interesting? It’s also what tends to come up as we start to “do the work” and let go of suppressing our feelings.

Really write a description of it. Go into as much detail as you can. Then, identify and write down your emotional feelings associated with the event. This means using words like angry, afraid, irritated, guilty, sad, depressed, frustrated, resentful, lonely, discouraged, hopeless, inferior, inadequate, and any

other emotion that comes to you. Now, keep in mind you can also do this for positive events... and I encourage you to do so. This way you can use words such as loving, excited, enlightened, imaginative, joyful, happy, worthwhile, hopeful, connected, encouraged, insightful, accomplished.

You can use this journal as a way of seeing your path, which forks/thoughts you are choosing. Do you choose to go on the fork of happiness? Learn from your failures to choose that fork and get back on a path with true inner joy. Failures are only failures if you see them that way. They are the experiences to learn from until you succeed and accomplish your goal. You CAN choose your thoughts, and choose positive ones at that. The Law of Substitution says, “You can substitute a positive thought for a negative thought whenever you choose.” You can start learning to choose more positive thoughts by learning and becoming mindful of which path you are on.

How do you learn to become mindful of your thoughts? The next step is to write down the positive and negative thoughts you have in connection with the emotions. Writing seems to be an important action step in the process of change and transformation. A client I just saw who has a history of avoiding writing, started keeping a log; he soon realized he had the positive feeling of relief after handing in an assignment with the thought, “I feel so relieved I got this done. What can I do next?”, which was a new thought for him. He identified a prior emotional and thought pattern of feeling overwhelmed and inadequate, with the programmed thought of “I never get anything done. I’m a f--k up.” I had encouraged him to replace the negative thoughts with “I can get done what I put my mind to. I have the ability.” He did, connected to the feeling of determination and was able to follow through with his goal, resulting in his new feeling of relief and increased selfesteem.

The negative thought was overgeneralized; of course he gets some things done.

Be mindful of both the positive thoughts that keep you going, and the negative thoughts that hinder you. Reality test both of them. You will find the negative are the ones that do not hold up, often being distorted in some way. And, as we know, the Law of Attraction says that, We attract what we think and focus on. Do you want to attract positive or negative into your life? There is an energy, an ebb and flow to everything, including our emotions and thoughts that we bring into our life and experience. Find out what they are, what you are unintentionally bringing into your life.

You can be the captain of your own mind, your emotions and your experience of life. You are brilliant! Awesome! Know it by being 100% responsible for your own thoughts and emotions. To do that, be aware of them. Your emotions are your guideposts, your clues to the life you want. They will lead you to the thoughts that created them. You can then change the thoughts to ones which are more in keeping with your desires, leading to more positive feelings and then the behavior!

You have the power to take action and change your life, to write your own story, a glorious, joyous story. A happier, more satisfying life.

More Than a Luxury Most people think of massage as something reserved for a special occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary, or vacation. If you are one of these people, you are missing the true value of massage. There is a reason the term "massage therapist" is emphasized today instead of "masseuse". Massage is therapy, and the right therapist can provide more benefits than you might imagine.

When pain interrupts life, pain killers and surgery often become the first option instead of the last. Alternative treatments such as massage therapy, can bring relief and healing without negative side effects. Pain killers can be addictive and surgery is often invasive and risky. Conditions such as sciatica, herniated disks, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, and headaches, respond well to massage therapy.

Regular sessions between one to three times per month, can keep these conditions under control and provide the client with less pain and more function.

Don't make the mistake of judging all massage therapists as the same. A bad experience is not reflective of the entire massage community. When shopping for a massage therapist, seek a therapist who will listen and customize your massage around your needs, instead of the same cookie cutter approach. If you are in pain, seek a professional who specializes in deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, assisted stretching, or Active Release Technique (ART). Your well-being is also not a place to cut corners. It is worth investing a little more money with a massage therapist who gives you a better result. When you do, you will soon find massage to be much more than a luxury.

ROCK OF THE MONTH: Stones to Alleviate Stress Stress can have a powerful effect on the health of our physical, mental and emotional well-being. There are various ways we can be stressed, sometimes without even realizing it; unknown fears and beliefs can subconsciously effect our daily lives.

Another experience of stress is panic attacks. Most people don’t realize it, but we are all highly sensitive beings; no one has ever told us that we are, or how we can use these sensitivities for the highest good. Being highly sensitive means we pick-up on or feel other people’s feelings, emotions and thoughts. Imagine you are in a room with 10 people -- we are picking-up over 6,000 thoughts and emotions in that room. We can now see how overwhelming that could be and how it tends to stress our bodies. If we add in environmental factors and toxins that already keep our sensitivities high, feeling all these energies can put our bodies into overload or a panic attack.

Stones that help shield highly sensitive people are: aquamarine shields us from picking-up on other’s energies; sugilite helps us remember our life path; rhodonite is excellent for stopping panic attacks and helping to enhance our talents; labradorite protects us from other’s energies; and obsidian aids in grounding us while pulling all static energy from our auras.

There are a variety of stones that can be used to help relieve stress. Most of these stones work to heal and release blocks in our nervous system, while eliminating over-thinking and worrying. A lot of the stones that are used for stress are found in shades of light blue all the way to deep indigo. These colors are very calming and soothing to the nervous system, the pineal gland, brain, blood pressure, thyroid, third eye and throat chakras, all benefiting from these minerals.

helps us to be our true selves. Lepidolite and rose quartz have a high lithium content, good for depression and helping us accept that we are exactly where we are supposed to be in the moment. These stones can be used on the chakras or placed directly on the area in need.

Stones work through piezieoelectrity; when we hold them in our hands and squeeze them they transmit their energies. If you’re feeling stressed or panicky, the cool, calming energies of these stones will help to calm you down. They are also very beneficial when held on to during meditation or worn in the aura, or in a pocket. By keeping these stones in your aura for over 30 days, your nervous system will feel the healing benefits and you’ll feel calmer as well as more at peace.

After we have had a trauma or a very stressful situation, our nervous system needs help healing and repairing itself.

This way, we won’t get stressed out so easily. Ever notice if you have been stressed for awhile, little things seem to frustrate or stress you out easier than usual? It’s because we are kind of like an empty barrel -- once you put water or stress in the barrel it doesn’t empty, it just gets fuller, until we reach the point where we can’t take it anymore. When we heal our nervous system and maintain our stress, things don’t bother us as easily.

Stones beneficial to hold during meditation are blue kyanite sodalite and lapis lazuli. Meditation is also excellent for alleviating stress; using crystals helps us to focus and quiet our minds while meditating. Meditation is also excellent for stress because it keeps us in the now, and when we are in the now we cannot worry about things that may or may not occur in the future. It also helps us to see that most of the stuff in our minds is an illusion and we can decide in every moment whether to stress or not. We realize it is a choice to choose to be stressed, and when we recognize this we can also decide not to stress.

Here is an easy healing crystal array you can use for yourself or others. You can sit or lay in it, or use it to grid your healing table. You need one piece of each stone: blue lace agate, sodalite, lapis lazuli and rhodonite. Place the lapis lazuli in the direction of the west, the sodalite in the south, the rhodonite in the west and the blue lace agate in the north. Sit in this healing array for 15 minutes to a half-hour to receive the benefits. Have fun! Don’t worry!
