LETTER FROM THE LTG Happy December! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the November Blanket Making DCM, it was a big success! These past few months have flown by. It's crazy to think that next month we will be electing our new Lieutenant Governor. I'm so proud of what we've accomplished so far this term, and very excited for what lies ahead. With Candidate Training Conference right around the corner (December 6th), now is the time to start seriously thinking about your future as a key club member. Will you be running for club office? For Lieutenant Governor? If you know you want to have a leadership role but are unsure of what position, I would be more than happy to help you figure that out. I am also happy to help write and practice giving speeches. I would really like us all to focus on the Eliminate project, as it's almost 2015! While as clubs and divisions we can always fundraise, as individuals we can also donate. The Key Club International board set a goal that each member raise $5.40. $1.80 pays for 3 doses of an immunization that will save a mother and all her future children from MNT, this means that each member who raises $5.40 will save 3 families. If 10 clubs get 10 members to raise(or donate) $5.40 each, we can raise $540 and save 300 families. That's not taking into account the fundraisers (ie Mr. Key Club) we will have. I challenge each club to get 10 members to each contribute $5.40. We will have donation jars at all DCM's. Good luck with finals, try and get some sleep! I'm here for you if you ever need anything at all. Have a wonderful winter break and I hope to see you all at the December DCM.

PAST EVENTS

//mary zhen, mountain view high school “This was my first time going to Key Leader and I can honestly say this was a life changing event. One unforgettable memory I have is learning what defines a leader. It doesn't have to involve being well know or well liked but is defined by where your heart is. Truly ANYONE can be a leader if you have the guts to do so. You get to learn what it really takes to be on a team through obstacles and team bonding activities. And not to mention the number of people you meet and friends you make in that one weekend couldn't be better.

KEY CLUB WEEK
//mahima dutt, cupertino high school “For Key Club Week, Cupertino KC planned each day according to the themes and tried to make it really interactive for our members. We took lots of club photos and had a different member dress up in the penguin suit each day for penguin cam (where students around campus got pictures with a penguin)! We also tried to advertise it with a really cute cover photo that a friend of mine designed. However, the biggest day/most important day in my opinion was probably Noori’s visitation on Wednesday for Connect the K’s since we really wanted a lot of members to come and meet her and it went pretty well since she brought donuts for key club trivia and we took a photo with her after!”

November
//valerie tan, lynbrook high school “On November 15th, Fremont High School hosted the annual Division Council Meeting where we make blankets for premature babies. Since it is one of many Key Clubbers’ favorite events, there was an amazing turnout— with some schools bringing ten or even twenty members. Before making the adorable blankets, Noori informed the division of upcoming events such as Candidate Training Conference and the December DCM. Clubs also talked about successful past events like Key Club week. Later on, we made blankets in groups with representation from at least two clubs, allowing Key Clubbers to meet members from other schools, thus increasing unity within our division. Although many struggled with understanding the instructions, those who have attended this event in the past willingly helped the members there for the first time. Overall, the November DCM was a really fun event to meet members from other schools while making blankets for a good cause, and I personally feel that it is an event every Key Clubber should attend at least once before they graduate!“

//jason leong, los altos high school “Mr. Key Club Pageant is an annual fundraiser event for Project Eliminate. This year, we'll be inviting D34N again to join us in searching for the Mr. Key Club of Division 34. It's a very fun and social event that is a great opportunity to meet new people! They're be many games and mini competitions between the contestants of both divisions as they each try to better represent their spirit, love, and dedication for Key Club. If you're interested in participating in this fantastic and exciting event, please contact myself, Regita Soetandar, or Noori! I HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT PALY ON JAN 31st - GO PURPLE PENGUINS!

PTP WHAT IS PTP? PTP stands for Pediatric Trauma Program. Pediatric Trauma, otherwise known as unintentional injury, is the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. More children die from unintentional injury than any other diseases combined.
WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF PEDIATRIC TRAUMA ? A child who suffers from head or even brain injury because he or she was not wearing a bicycle helmet. A baby who was injured from tumbling down the stairs because no safety gate was present. A child who drowns in a household pool because proper alarms and fencing were not installed.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF PTP? The Pediatric Trauma Program is based of the principle that all injuries are predictable and preventable. Together, the CNH District aims to develop local projects to reduce the number of children who are killed or injured by trauma
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE MONEY DONATED TO PTP? The funds donated to PTP provide grants to partner hospital, which allows them to create or expand community outreach programs, and the funds provide grants to Kiwanis to allow them to help more children in more communities. The funds are also used to provide PTP safety items to families to ensure that all children live happy, healthy, and safe lives.
All proceeds from Fall Rally North will be donated to PTP!
