Key Club is an international student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership.

Leadership, character building, caring, inclusiveness.

We are caring and competent servant leaders transforming communities worldwide.

I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the objects of Key Club International; to guild my home, school, community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

I would like to welcome you, all new and returning members, to the 2014-2015 Key Club term! So far we’ve had an awesome summer with so many fun events. We helped out at Hidden Villa with our parent club, the Kiwanis Club, and also attended monthly DCMs in which we took part in making sandwich lunches for a homeless shelter. We even had a Great America social with our friends at Mountain View Key Club! This past weekend, we spent our Saturday at the Electronic Sriracha Festival, where most of us helped with the admissions booth and received free entry into the festival. More details about the festival can be found on Page 9. This year, my goals are to promote service for the community, encourage club bonding, and provide a memorable experience for all. We will strive to have service events available every month from beautification projects in Los Altos to helping out at local animal shelters! Some events fill up quickly, so make sure to claim a spot in the volunteer list before anyone else.

SPIRIT will also be a big focus for us this year. Purple is our name and purple is our game. Fall Rally North is just around the corner and this is where we’ll be able to show off to the other divisions what the Purple Penguins are really made of! Not only will it be lots of fun, but you’ll be able to help fundraise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program: a program that supports children who are involved in both major and minor accidents. Speaking of fundraising, for the first time ever, I’m eager to announce that Los Altos Key Club will be teaming up with One Dollar for Life (ODFL) in our mission to ELIMINATE maternal/ neonatal tetanus! We aim to soar above and beyond the expectations of Los Altos High School in order to be a model club for Key Clubs across the nation. All in all, I’m looking forward to a great year and meeting each and every one of you throughout the term! That being said, my challenge for YOU is to meet at least ONE person outside of our home club, Los Altos. You never know who you will meet and how many un-BEElievable friendships you can make through service. By the way, in Key Club we do not make keys; however, we DO open doors to your future.

The Electronic Sriracha Festival was an absolutely amazing experience. I could not stop buying more and more of the delicious Sriracha infused delicacies from the endless amount of food trucks at the festival. I highly recommend clubbers of all ages to come to the Electronic Sriracha Festival in the upcoming years.

PTP WHAT IS PTP? PTP stands for Pediatric Trauma Program. Pediatric Trauma, otherwise known as unintentional injury, is the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. More children die from unintentional injury than any other diseases combined.

WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF PEDIATRIC TRAUMA ? A child who suffers from head or even brain injury because he or she was not wearing a bicycle helmet. A baby who was injured from tumbling down the stairs because no safety gate was present. A child who drowns in a household pool because proper alarms and fencing were not installed.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF PTP? The Pediatric Trauma Program is based of the principle that all injuries are predictable and preventable. Together, the CNH District aims to develop local projects to reduce the number of children who are killed or injured by trauma

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE MONEY DONATED TO PTP? The funds donated to PTP provide grants to partner hospital, which allows them to create or expand community outreach programs, and the funds provide grants to Kiwanis to allow them to help more children in more communities. The funds are also used to provide PTP safety items to families to ensure that all children live happy, healthy, and safe lives.

All proceeds from Fall Rally North will be donated to PTP!
