English & Maths Boost your Maths and English skills - enrol on a FREE course! Our FREE* English and maths courses start at beginners level and progress up to GCSE. Choose the right course for you, whether that’s a beginners course to get you started; a GCSE to gain that essential grade 4; or a class to improve your employability. You’ll learn at your own pace, with support from friendly tutors in a warm, welcoming environment. We are currently offering the courses below at our main campus on Deane Road and at our community learning centres. ESOL into GCSE Maths If English isn’t your first language, these courses will help you to develop the skills to progress towards GCSE Maths.

Functional Skills English or Functional Skills Maths – Entry Levels Learn the practical skills needed to work effectively and confidently in everyday life and develop the skills ready to progress in September 2022. From September, we will continue to offer the above courses as well as the courses below, all FREE* Functional Skills English or Functional Skills Maths – Entry Levels 1 to 3 Improve your skills for work and life with these courses, aiding your progression to the next level. ESOL into GCSE English If English isn’t your first language, this course will help you to develop the skills to progress towards GCSE Maths. GCSE English or GCSE Maths If you have a GCSE grade 3 (D) or below, or Functional Skills grade 2 prior attainment, we’ll support you to achieve that all-important GCSE grade 4 or above in just one year!

Introduction to Customer Service Customer service skills are essential for all businesses and excellent customer service skills are an in-demand skill. This course will introduce you to the key principles of customer service as a taster session for our customer service suite of qualifications.

Customer Service Level 1 This qualification is aimed at learners who are new to the customer service sector and wish to improve their knowledge of this area resulting in the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. If you want to get ahead at work or find employment, or even just increase your confidence with technology for personal reasons, these courses are a must! To help you find out what course is right for you, we will support you to complete a short assessment to identify which digital pathway will best meet your needs. From beginners to those with more experience, you’ll soon be using technology confidently and competently, aided by our friendly and knowledgeable tutors. Basic digital courses are FREE for everyone, whilst most courses at a higher level are either free or are offered at reduced fees, depending on your circumstances. In our Community Learning Centres we run a range of basic digital skills courses which can support anyone, even if you don’t know how to switch on a computer or use a mouse! It might also be worth recommending our curriculum to your mum or dad, or other family members, if they’re struggling to use their new iPad or android device. YMCA Fitness Instructing (Gym Based Exercise) Level 2 This course is ideal if you are looking to become a Fitness Instructor. It is also the first stage of becoming a Personal Trainer. We run this course in our fully-equipped fitness suite and state-of-the-art classrooms. During this course you will learn the basics of anatomy, physiology and nutrition in the context of fitness training. How to Apply and Enrol Our online application and enrolment service makes joining a course at Bolton College even easier and, once you have your own Learner Hub account, you can use it to check on the progress of your applications and enrolments. To join one of our courses, follow the simple guide below. If you need help enrolling, please use our live chat service available from any of our website pages.

Visit our website and read all about the course you are interested in. Courses are grouped together by subject so you can read about, and compare, all the options on offer. You’ll find the website link for each subject area on the course listings page of this guide. Here’s an example of the link you need to click on or type in to your search browser:

Once you have decided on the course you would like to study (don’t forget to read the entry requirements to ensure that your chosen course is suitable for you) click the yellow button on the right of your screen to either ‘Apply’ or ‘Enrol’.

If the ‘Apply’ button is showing – this means you need to speak to a member of staff before you can enrol. Use the ‘Apply’ button to create your Bolton College Learner Hub account and fill in an application form. You should only need to do this bit once. We will communicate with you by email and text so please enter your mobile number and email address carefully. Once we have your application form, we will text you with a link to book a telephone interview. If the ‘Enrol’ button is showing – you can enrol straight away. Use the ‘Enrol’ button to create your new Bolton College Learner Hub account or log into your existing account and then click through the screens to complete your enrolment. See next page for more information on enrolling.

Creating your Bolton College Learner Hub account It is easy to create your Learner Hub account once you see this page:

Simply click on ‘Create an Account’ and answer the questions. If you already have a Learner Hub account, log in using your username and password. Don’t worry if you forget your password, just click ‘Forgot your password’ and enter your username or the email address you used to set up your account. Then, follow the link in your password reset email.

Enrolling on to a course Once your Learner Hub account is set up, you are ready to enrol and pay (if appropriate). Work your way through the screens, filling in the details carefully. We will ask you questions about your: Name, address and contact details, residency status, employment status, existing qualifications and equality and diversity. If you don’t pay your course fees, you’ll need to tell us why. You will also need to upload evidence if you are asked to (it’s just like uploading a picture to Facebook or WhatsApp). Once you have answered these questions you will need to: • Read and confirm you understand our terms and conditions • Pay your fees (if appropriate) and submit your enrolment

Top tips! 1) Before applying/enrolling we would suggest you have some information ready so that you can upload it when you are asked to including, (where applicable) evidence of your benefits or wages, your National Insurance number and your proof of residency. If you pay for your courses you will also need a credit or debit card. 2) You can save your application/enrolment at any stage, but you must return to complete it within 4 hours of starting or you may need to start again.
