Vaccination is crucial Since the easing of restrictions by the Government on July 19, things have started to return to normal but with caution being encouraged in many places. While people are making a return to what they enjoyed before the start of the pandemic, Covid-19 is still very much with us and cases continue to be high in Bolton. The vaccination programme is continuing and the best possible protection a person can have against becoming seriously ill or being admitted to hospital with Covid-19 is to be doubly vaccinated.

So, it’s more important than ever that people who are eligible for the vaccine get their first dose as soon as possible, and their second approximately eight weeks later. In particular, we are appealing for young people aged between 18 and 29 to come forward for their vaccination. At the time of going to press, people aged 17 years and 9 months were also invited to get their vaccination. Dr Helen Wall, senior responsible officer for the vaccination programme in Bolton, said: It remains crucial that people continue to take regular tests and to have the Covid-19 vaccination if aged 18 or over. There are still thousands of people in Bolton who haven’t had their first dose

yet and sadly, we have seen more unvaccinated young people being admitted to hospital recently. I can’t stress enough how important it is for everyone who is eligible to get their vaccination as soon as possible. “We appreciate some people might still be hesitant, but all of our sites will happily discuss any concerns they may have about getting the vaccine. People need two doses of the vaccine for the best protection against becoming seriously unwell or being admitted to hospital, so equally I would urge people to make sure they get their second dose.
