Tallahassee Bike Fest is perfect for bikers seeking an extra thrilling and unique biking experience you can’t find anywhere else in the sunshine state. Tallahassee Bike Fest will be featured in the downtown Tallahassee area dubbed Railroad Square Art District.
Tallahassee resident Giavona “G” Williams is proud to create the first-ever annual motorcycle rally for this city. G is seeking to provide an all-inclusive experience for new riders, experienced riders, and their families, and of course, all bikes are welcome! “We don’t care if you ride three-wheels or two wheels, or sport, metric, or baggers,” says G. “We just want every rider to come and enjoy what our great city has to offer. There is A LOT to explore to keep your schedule full!” Upon entry into “Tally,” its popular nickname, you’ll feel as though you’re no longer in Florida but rather somewhere up north. Traditionally, Florida is characterized by sandy shores, palm tree-lined streets, and warm winters. However, in Tallahassee, you can enjoy alternative scenery. It’s the perfect place to explore the many natural parks, trails, reserves, and springs scattered across the area. And yes, the beaches are just a short ride away if you are looking for that as well.
The historic Railroad Square Art District will host Tallahassee Bike Fest’s main area. It is a WWII-era industrial warehouse park turned urban core art district and includes a 10-acre haven with more than 70 shops, galleries, and small businesses. On
May 13-15, 2022, Railroad Square will be home to the festival’s vendors, motorcycle activities, entertainment such as Jasmine Cain, Mr. Sipp “The Mississippi Blues Child,” Blackbird Anthem, and more. Other features of Bike Fest include: a kick-off party by Tallahassee Harley Davidson, mapped rides in partnership with REVER, an honorary veteran ride, poker runs, a Sunday Bike show hosted by Born to Ride Media, and a kid’s corner featuring hands-on activities for future riders. G Williams acknowledges that Tallahassee needs a festival like this, and she is thrilled that it has generated a lot of excitement already. Tallahassee continues to grow as a city and is home to many attractions, breweries, bars, shopping, and an eclectic food scene. In addition, many folks in the regional motorcycle community agree that this festival needs to happen because Tallahassee is a hidden gem for attractive riding. Based on the festival’s outreach thus far and local data, G predicts to welcome about 3,500-5,000 riders for their first year. “We take pride in putting on a motorcycle rally with a purpose that benefits local charities in the Tallahassee area, and this year our benefactor is Team Guardian. We can’t thank everyone enough, but we can try! First off. There were the builders. Without you, this screamin’ chopper show wouldn’t exist. This event is ‘for you’ and in large part ‘by you.’ Born To Ride is grateful to those who came from Georgia, North and South Carolina, as well as from one end of the state of Florida to the other. You are helping put this event on the map as a ‘must see’ yearly event. Next we have to thank the wives, girlfriends, and families of those builders. We know it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice to make this yearly trek. Those guys couldn’t do what they do without you, which is why this will always be a family-friendly event. Bike Week includes more than just Daytona
The granddaddy of all Florida bike week events is coming up. Although a ghost of what it once was, the festivities in Daytona and the surrounding areas have taken on a life of their own. Unfortunately, you won’t find much taking place downtown on what was once party central; Beach Street. The governing municipal powers of Daytona are doing things to discourage the bikers. You’ll have to ride further out to find the best
of the best in bike shows, bikini contests, vendors and the rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere. And, thank goodness, in this day and age, it’s easy to find out where these things are taking place. In this age of instant communications, ready access to information and the ever-expanding range of social media, there really is no point in congregating blindly at a central point in a town that doesn’t welcome us. Interesting activities at other destinations are instantly posted that reach the bikers who are all seeking stimulation, a reason to hit the road and go on an adventure. Once they know where to find a party, the latest and newest products and services, show bikes, scantilyclad bar-keeps to admire and highprofile personalities to

interact with, they are off in a deafening roar. Take in point the parties taking place at Space Coast, Seminole, and Orlando Harley-Davidson dealerships. These motorcycle destinations are filling their parking lots with admirable features at reasonable prices, live music all day long, free parking, and manageable-sized bike shows where even the back yard biker can find a place to shine. (You’ll find Letterfly Pinstriping at Space Coast Harley-Davidson in Palm Harbor during bike week.) These satellite motorcycle dealerships are taking full advantage of the fact that they can provide all the elements of bike week, while placing the bikers outside of where the gouging for hotel rooms, parking and meals take place – far from where the local populace have grown to distain the biker. Motorcycling is all about finding something that you have never found before. This is what drives us to head out in a direction that we have never gone before. The spirit of adventure is what drives us and as the result, the outlying areas of an even greater amount of Florida is prepping for the bikers who congregate here when the snow is up to their fannies up north. So, get ready for the tech-savvy Yanks, and expect them to behave like proactive bikers, finding the best of the best of the places to go. There are plenty of biker-friendly places that cherish the income that comes with the sudden surge of bikers roaring into the sunshine state who put on a great event. In case you haven’t seen the memo, ‘lifted trucks are the new black’. Long gone are the days that pick ups were only thought to be driven by farm hands, cowboys and construction workers. Craven Moorehead More Random Thoughts for March
Floating along on a cloud of uncertainty, a writer passes high in the sky observing all that is going on beneath him. Or perhaps, I should not refer to myself as a writer but simply an observer. Either way, it is up to that person to decide what is reality and what is fantasy. Sometimes it is difficult to correctly identify between the two because things that aren’t real often come cloaked in an endless pile of substantiating facts and evidence that most people could not refute. Every situation requires careful examination, not just on the surface but all the way down to the core. As humans, we only see what we want to see anyway. So it often becomes a situation where we learn later that something is not authentic. This is not a fault just a fact. I am not addressing the specific issues; I am simply trying to suggest that people look deeply into situations and try to determine on their own whether the content or item is truly legitimate. Using care when checking reality is paramount to preventing dissatisfaction in the future. No, this isn’t all about fake news and some of the other drama that we hear about every day. This is just about checking out the real facts. Last month was really a hoot! We had Valentine’s Day, the return of NASCAR and the Olympic games to deal with and enjoy, plus the US won a bunch of medals so it’s a good thing. Everything considered, there are a lot of great things coming up on the horizon, including Bike Week in Daytona and locally, the strawberry festival in Plant City. Usually, this month is the beginning of the serious riding season, but the weather has been so warm a lot of folks are
already out on the road enjoying the ride. As I said last month, there is no better place for a biker to live than right here. Seriously, a year-long riding season and no snow rocks! However, this year it seems that in Florida spring as we know it was totally skipped and we went directly from winter into summer. Believe me, I am not complaining! Just enjoying the ride like all the rest of you. When you live here and venture out of your trailer park, or wherever you live, you will always experience new and exciting things. Once, I left here on a beautiful sunny Sunday and got on the bike for a ride. With no particular destination in mind, I just started out heading east from where I live and began enjoying the ride. Somehow, I ended up on RT60 in the middle of nowhere, and after a few hours I drank all of my bottled water and was getting a little dehydrated—not unusual when the temps are in the 80s or 90s. In a town without a name and a tavern (I can’t remember the name), I decided to stop and have a beer or whatever just to cool off for a few minutes. Maybe this would be as far as I go for the day or maybe not. I saw this place over on the left and there were several motorcycles parked. I felt like this would be a good place to go hang out because it was apparent that bikers were welcome there. Well, it turned out pretty good since there were other road-dogs who actually knew who me in the establishment, and one or two even offered to buy me a cold brew. This is the kind of camaraderie that you will find when you venture out every now and then to places unknown and destinations undecided. Our world as bikers may be a small one but all our hearts are very massive. As it turned out, I drank a couple of beers, met a few new awesome friends, and had a great time enjoying the air-conditioning and the hospitality. I realized that every day may not be as good as this one, and when all was said and done I ventured back home to savor the memory of the ride and the new people I encountered. Sadly, the next time I went out that way for whatever reason, I discovered that the place was closed, and it was another 30 miles to the next watering hole. I went there without the expectation of anything in particular but the point still remains. As bikers, we all seem to have an unspoken bond that people who don’t ride motorcycles rarely understand. It’s okay though. It seems only the best of the best are in our circle. I know that Bike Week is coming up, and I expect to see a lot of old friends there and possibly make some new ones once again. This is what our lifestyle is about.

BIKER MOVIE REVIEW
Confusion and chaos pretty much sums up this movie. It is the modern day version of all the biker exploitation “B” movies ever made. Curiously, Larry Bishop (as Pistolero) appeared in a variety of films including The Savage Seven, Mad Dog Time and Kill Bill to name a few. His collaboration with Quentin Tarantino in this most recent effort, would lead one to believe that “Hell Ride” is a major cinematic production destined for the A list. Sadly, it falls short of that mark. The story revolves around Pistolero and his gang “the Victors.” The main characters are himself, the Gent and Comanche who set out to avenge the death of his ol lady Cherokee Kisum. Cherokee, it seems, was murdered by the 666er’s, a rival gang. But wait, let’s back up! This is exactly what makes the flick so confusing. … We flash back and forth from 35 years back to 35 years forward. It seems that Bishop as the writer, director, and star is the only one who understands what is going on at any given time. I was lost after viewing it twice, but again I digress. The film is soaked with girls, drugs, and murder. I like all those facets in a biker exploitation film, but the chaotic pace leaves one
wondering where the plot is. It seems the Victors MC have an underlying code of deceit and distrust. As the movie rolls along, several of the members of gang are killed by the Gent and other Victors—leaving only Pistolero, the Gent, and Comanche in the gang. Ahhh, but there is another member hiding in the desert! Eddie Zero, played by Dennis Hopper appears as a (possibly retired) member of the gang. How they were able to get Hopper to appear in this mess was a mystery in itself, and I was surprised, and entertained for a moment until I saw David Carradine playing rival gang member “The Duce.” Evidently, the Duce and Pistolero had some under-the-table dealings and this conflict led to the ongoing battle between the two clubs. The 666er’s use arrows and darts to carry out their hits while the Victors use the more conventional revolvers, available at Wal-Mart. The Victors trademark murders–you will see a few of these involve the tying of one to a chair, the cutting of the throat, and the soaking of the subject in gasoline, which is then ignited by the tossing of a Zippo lighter, also available at WalMart. Somewhere in my recall, it seems to me that this ritual was borrowed from the 666er’s when they did in Cherokee Kisum. In the end, the Victors cut off the Duce’s head, and Eddie Zero delivers it to the 666er’s hangout in a nice wicker basket (see Wal-Mart above). He departs and rides off down the road until his motor quits for some reason. He gets off his vintage ride to repair it, and sees the 666er’s pull up behind him. The leader of the 666er’s, (played by Vinnie Jones) shoots him in the back with a dart fired from an air powered device that looks like a Shark Gun. He collapses on the highway. Much to the 666er’s surprise the Victors pull up behind them and the Gent kills all of them, but only wounds Jones who falls to the pavement. Pistolero in a strange twist of role, shoots Jones with a small crossbow, then reloads and fires a dart into Jones’ gas tank. As the fuel surrounds Jones, who is bleeding cussing and etc, one of the Victors cuts his throat, and Pistolero tosses the classic Zippo into the pool of gas. In the next frame, Hopper gets up off the pavement, and removes his armor-laden jacket – arrow still intact- and hands it to his girl who gives him a similar jacket. They depart the scene, and the three meet in the desert where the 666er’s had previously buried some sort of lockbox containing some sort of (something). … There are three keys that have 666 stamped into them. There is a short argument, and Comanche digs up the lock box and the others give him the three keys. What’s in that thing you ask? You will never know, because the shot shows only Comanche’s face from the inside as he opens the box. I think it was empty, but what do I know? The trio then fire up their motors and ride off in three different directions as the credits roll. If you are a fan of naked ladies, cool classic motorcycles, and blood and guts, this film is for you! However, if you were expecting a plot, a story line, or a coherent slide show of pleasant desert scenes you aren’t gonna be too happy. Tarantino once told Bishop “It is your destiny to write, direct, and star in a movie.” Sometimes destiny is not all it’s cracked up to be! ! Hey there, my Born To Ride friends. Mother Nature blessed us with great riding weather for Thunder by the Bay and Charlotte’s Web Mardi Gras parties. Human Nature overwhelmed us with great friends, old and new, for both events. The traffic on I-75 was brutal both weekends and riding on Mike’s shoulder or the backrest of the Fat Bird 3 wasn’t helping the situation. Between the rubbernecking, people speeding up and slowing down to take pictures or just honking and waving, was almost overwhelming for Mike. A lot of those vehicles had out-of-state tags. Believe it when I say a thousand-plus people are migrating into Florida every day. I just want to give a fair squawking to those that are planning on moving here. Before you come to our area and live, y’all must be aware of what is happening here. There’s a housing shortage, rent has doubled, and folks are vacationing here in record numbers. Not to mention the snowbirds who haven’t been coming down because of covid are returning in droves. But if your intentions are only to vacation and enjoy our waterways, beaches, and state parks, come spend your money, but take my cackling into consideration. The red ants, fire ants, and bed bugs have infested hotels, motels, and Air B&Bs across the area due to a dryer-than-usual winter. There has been a poor supply of pesticides and people to administer them. Keep a close eye on your young ones, both two and four legged. Bobcats and coyotes have been seen eating domesticated BTR 54 | BORNTORIDE.COM
animals and some small children. The local bear, deer, and iguana population are all ‘in heat’ and think that your wife/ girlfriend/daughter is hot. The poison ivy has overtaken all other vegetation, except for the abundance of psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana farms, and palm trees. Mike has told me there have been bear sightings at every park in town and some cougars hanging around motel rooms preying on Gen X boys. Watch out for the jackalopes, although cute and relatively harmless, they have been aggressively using their horns this mating season. If you’re swimming in the gulf, we’ve had a big influx of Leafy Sea Dragons and Purple People Eaters.
There have been various sightings of Bigfoot in our forests, and skunks are spraying small children should they dare enter the thick palmetto undergrowth around the playgrounds. Raccoons, snakes, and lizards have made their way out of the trailer parks and multiplied at unprecedented rates. They wander the local campgrounds, bingo halls, and bars in packs looking for northern meat in town. Murder hornets!?! We’ve got huge black clouds of murder hornets, flying ants, and swarms of Mormon crickets that make our mosquitoes and no-see-ums look like welcomed pests. Over the years, many
unaware travelers brought in Alabama lubber grasshoppers who eat everything green in sight between St. Patrick’s Day and Earth Day. Scorpions have been congregating in massive quantities under rocks, logs, and automobiles, waiting to put their stinger in a human. They are now far more dangerous than any old mans’ stinger who you can find hanging out at the many VFW’s, American legions, or Moose lodges in the area. These scorpions are so dangerous that they have overtaken the tarantulas and brown recluse spiders that have been hiding in peoples shoes and clothing, biting them when they are unaware. Mike has told me that all the private tiger owners have released their cats into the streets of Tampa Bay due to the shortage of meat, in hopes they’ll find food. Head lice now fly, right beside the bats and seagulls. Speaking of my cousins the sky rats, they will flock in masses and dive bomb you in a heartbeat if you decide to picnic at the beach. Be forewarned, any kids under the age of ten who are waiving edibles on the coastline, may become part of the food chain. All this has driven the Florida native wildlife crazy. I’ve been doing my part by jumping on their backs and riding them to safety. Directing them away from the insanity of human migration and species demise. So, if you are moving here, you’ve been warned! Please consider staying put in your own state, county, or province where it’s safe and you’ve got friends! For vacationers, I say, bring cash and leave broke! Mike babbles, “Good going, Spyke! Now that you’ve intimidated half the country about moving to or vacationing in Florida, I must remove you from behind the keyboard and onto the scoot. It’s time to get your wings in the wind, my knees in the breeze, and the Fat Bird 3 wheels rolling down the road.” — SPYKE

CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLISTS ASSOCIATION For my 50th birthday, my wife blessed me with a new Harley Road King Classic. I was flying high! Previously, I had a competitive bike, but it just didn’t sound like a Harley, it didn’t look like a Harley, and most of all, it didn’t ride like a Harley. I absolutely loved the classic retro look the new bike had. My wife and I loved riding it, but over time we discovered that the bike was limited for use as a ministry ride. We needed more storage room to carry ministry materials, and when we rode two up, it was not comfortable for longer trips. Whereas we were content with the bike when we got it, we came to a point where we had to consider making a change. When we replaced the Road King we searched the different models of bikes, accessories, storage, and riding comfort. We relied on advice from several friends, as well as seeking guidance in prayer. By becoming open to advice, we went from challenges the Road King presented to being more contented with a new Ultra Classic Limited. A similar issue occurred when we decided we needed to replace our truck. It was a gasoline-powered Ford F-350, and it used a lot of fuel. We also found in some of the steep hilly roads in North Georgia, pulling a heavy toy hauler and bike,

that the truck almost bogged down and quit. It was a great truck, but we really needed the diesel torque to get the job done. Again, we had been more than contented when we got the gas truck, but once we started going into hilly terrain we had to make a change. The Bible tells us, in Philippians 4:12, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, weather well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty, or in want.” This lesson teaches us to focus on living contentedly, not just concerning our physical needs or wants, but our spiritual contentment as well. We can find that level of contentment by trusting Jesus. With Him staying close by, we can gain a sense of peace and calm as He leads us through everything. By calling on Jesus as our Lord, we have an advocate who oversees all that occurs us in our lives. By studying the Bible, and praying, we can learn and grow in our walk with Jesus. Over time, through our love for Jesus and living our lives for Him, we go from having a lack of contentment to growing a joyous peace. If your life is lacking in happiness, call on the One that can show you the way. Jesus not only wants to fill your life with pleasure, but He is also waiting for you to call on Him to make the difference in your life. In the Wind, Denny Dingler
