Could you..... do something
extraordinary for our hospital? Bournemouth Hospital Charity has a range of exciting challenges on offer in 2016 which mean that we will support you on fully organised events where you can run, jump, trek, cycle - and lots lots more - whilst raising money for your hospital. Keith Mitchell and his son Richard recently climbed Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain to raise funds for the hospital. The climb took a total of six days for both the ascent and descent, and has raised thousands of pounds for the Bournemouth Hospital Charity at the same time.

Keith said about the trip: “The charity is so important to the hospital as it funds urgently needed equipment and facilities that the NHS is unable to provide. My 92 year old mother has had many procedures carried out at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and has always received outstanding treatment, so I have a particular interest in the elderly wards. Meet the supporters who have taken on challenges for us
Three ladies from ‘Bournemouth Joggers’ have set their sights on an epic challenge of seven marathons in seven days to raise £2000 for Bournemouth Hospital Charity and other cancer charities. Carole Loader, Claire Woods, and Pat Everitt, all from Bournemouth, have trained for events together for the last 15 years and will take on the gruelling 200 miles together. The trio will run from St Bees Head in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay in Northumberland in Spring.
Alfio Stevanato suffered a stroke in 2013 and struggled to walk and talk. Thanks to the prompt actions of the paramedics he was on the operating table within minutes of being admitted to the Stroke Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Alfio raised £850.00 for the Stroke Unit and the Stroke Association by walking a marathon which took him a gruelling 10 hours and 30 minutes! Sam Sturgess, who works at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, raised £962 by wing walking in 2015. Sam said: “I signed up to do the wing walk because it was a great opportunity to do something exciting while raising money for our hospital.”
