Jigsaw Building opens doors The Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s multi-million pound Jigsaw Building has opened it’s doors to it’s first patients. The new Jigsaw Building is situated between the hospital’s Eye Unit and Derwent building. The ground floor houses state-ofthe-art facilities for the treatment of cancer and blood disorders, while the upper floor is home to a new Women’s Health Unit.
Funded by grants, money raised through two ‘Jigsaw Appeals’ and funds raised by Bournemouth Hospital Charity, as well as NHS investment, the building is providing more space for rapidly expanding outpatient and day case treatments. Debbie Anderson, Fundraising Manager, said: “The Jigsaw Building wouldn’t exist without the
tireless efforts of the fundraisers and supporters, who have raised over £2 million to bring this centre of excellence to Bournemouth, saving lives and benefiting thousands of patients.”

Fundraisers saddle up to raise thousands for lifesaving heart equipment
ECG machines play an essential role in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and around 50,000 ECGs are carried out in the Heart Unit each year. Barry Wilson, Events Officer for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “Our second Pedal Power event has been a huge success. We were extremely lucky again with the weather which couldn’t have been better!
Fundraisers cycled a choice of a 10km, 50km or 100km routes through picturesque New Forest villages in the beautiful sunshine at the end of September. More than 130 medical staff, patients and keen cyclists have raised over £5,000 for heart equipment at our Pedal Power cycling event.
The money will go towards an electrocardiograph (ECG) machine for the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s Heart Unit.
“The cyclists on the day and everyone who sponsored them as well as our corporate supporters including Eden Vauxhall have all helped to make a real difference to patients’ lives and we’re very grateful to them.”
