Remember a loved one at Light Up the Prom On Friday 23 October 2015, Bournemouth Hospital Charity and Macmillan Caring Locally are inviting you to join them at Bournemouth Pier Approach to ‘Light up the Prom’ and remember or celebrate a loved one. Light up the Prom is sponsored by Fairmile Grange Christchurch, part of the Quantum Group.
At 8pm a single firework will signal for all of the lights to be switched on to start the two minute silence remembering those we love and those we have lost. There will be a short fireworks display to mark the end of the two minute silence. You can also bid to have your loved ones ‘Name in Lights’ which will be revealed during the display.
If you intend to buy a light on the evening, we recommend you arrive no later than 7.30pm. With every light purchased, one name will be entered in the the books of light held in the chapels at both hospitals. La Nova Singers will be providing live music throughout the evening.
The battery operated lights are £5 each and can be bought from the Bournemouth Hospital Charity office, the Macmillan Caring Locally Office at Christchurch Hospital or though our website.

£4,000 donation funds children’s hospital trolley Bournemouth Hospital Charity has received £4,000 from the Santander Foundation to fund a specialist child sized trolley for the Emergency Department that will benefit thousands of children each year. The donation will enable the Emergency Department staff to safely assess, treat and monitor two children at the same time in the children’s area. Children were previously treated on adult trolleys with only one trolley being able to fit in the children’s room which has a TV, toys and books to help distract children and help to put them at ease. Cheryl Chainey, Paediatric Sister at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, said: “We’ve wanted
a children’s trolley for the department for a long time and are very excited and grateful to the Santander Foundation for funding this.” “Hospitals can be a very scary place for anyone, especially children, and being able to treat them in an area which has things to occupy and distract them is going to make a huge difference to both the child and the staff.” Glen Stephens at Santander’s Ringwood branch said: “The Santander Foundation makes
hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Bournemouth Hospital Charity and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
