white Bengal tigers are majestic creatures which grow much larger and heavier than their orange counterparts! They even grow up faster! So why do some tigers have orange fur while a few have white fur? The white colour of the fur is caused due to the lack of the pigment ‘Pheomelanin’ also called the ‘Chinchilla Mutation’, which occurs once in about 1O,OOO births! For a White tiger to be born, both parents must carry this particular gene for their offspring to be white in colur! Their unique colouration, large size and their magnetic personalities have made white tigers a rare phenomenon! Wouldn’t it be great if we could all see the White Tiger? The tiger population in the world is decreasing mainly due to poaching. Widespread action is being taken by governments across the world to preserve these beautiful animals.
