Captains Quarters Hello all and I’d like to wish everyone an early, Happy Thanksgiving. I know the holiday has transformed into sheer craziness for Holiday shopping and it also marks the annual trek for hunters here in Pa. I would ask that you all remember the true meaning of the Holiday this year and be thankful for all that you have and remember that there is most always someone who has less. Last month we saw a lot of big motocross races here in the region and you can catch all of that content in this issue. It was very cool to see the full gates of racers and the close competition that comes along with that. The action was red hot so be sure to see it all here. We also have our famous ECEA Spotlight kids along with Hare Scrambles action from both Big Bass and Sahara Sands along with some very cool Dual Sport action from the Reading Off Road Riders.
In This Issue:
Captains Quarters........................................................... 5
CMATVA had their annual ATV Rodeo and the annual fundraiser for breast cancer was held again at Lost Trails ATV Park. In addition find some snowmobile club news along with all our regular features.

Welcome to any new readers that pick up this issue of Brapp Magazine, we hope you enjoy it. We are primarily a competition and off road pub covering the action in Pa and the surrounding regions. We do however like the white stuff too and like to include some of those activities as we roll into the season.

SLEEPY HOLLOW-
BOYESEN 2 STROKE SHOOTOUT 2015 By: John Sherer www.ISO-Photo.com NO TRESSPASSING for the four strokers the weekend of September 25th-27th. Only the sweet smell of oil and gas mixture was in the air and the sounds of only 2 strokes echoed out of the hollow for the 5th Annual Sleepy Hollow Boyesen 2 Stroke Shootout. Friday the gates opened for practice from 10am till 4pm then on Friday evening inspirational speaker Harold Glissen talked to the crowd. If you have not heard Harold speak before please check his message out on his website at: onlyoneinspiration.com. Saturdays racing included mini classes up through the vintage class which drew some big crowds along spectator row to see the likes of pre -75’s era machines the 80’s and 90’s Honda Elsinore’s, Maico’s, Can-Am and a 480 cc single cylinder Kawasaki which all looked like they were just wheeled out of the show room. It was truly a throwback to the days of 4”inches of travel in the rear suspension, and maybe 7” up front. Pre 75’s class saw Chad
Aughinbaugh on his Kawasaki hang on to the beast for 2 first place finishes. The 80’s era was won by Todd Weindel on a Husky and 90’s era winner out of Ashland,OH. Josh Hillis on a Kawasaki. There was also some great racing in the mini ranks along with all the traditional classes that offer two stroke bikes like School and College Boy. You can see results from both Saturdays and Sunday’s racing at www.sleepymx.com. Saturday evening after the racing was over the crowd was treated to a best smelling and best sounding two stroke competition. Following these 2 events came the big whip contest, won by Coty Schock who electrified the crowd with his insane aerial display. This event was voted on by the spectators of course. Sunday’s racing menu featured all the pro shootout classes 125144 pro and 250 and Open Pro. Both classes ran 20 minute motos +2 laps with a cash purse of over $7.500.00. plus cash bonuses were given out to the holeshot winners in each of the first motos in these classes. Riders from 7 different states including PA., NY., CT., OH., MD., NC. and NJ. showed up for the shootout. The racing was

fierce and relentless as the 20 minute motos took their toll on the riders. Only those in the best physical condition rose to the top. Finishing with top honors in the 250/ Open Pro class and the wallie was Justin Cooper followed by Jason Brooks and Steve Roman. The 125-144 pro class lined up 18 rider’s at the gate and once again Justin Cooper would hold off the rest of the field to ride into 1st place podium position 2nd place went to Coty Schock and 3rd place Jared Lesher. The three day event was a huge success with more entries than last year, larger purses and most of all more spectators to enjoy the best of the local racing scene. I would also like to thank Jerry Fessler from Sleepy Hollow and all the sponsors who helped make it happen. ECEA and Brapp Mag would like to congratulate Max Fernandez on being chosen to be one of our ECEA /Brapp Mag Spot Lights. Max has been riding for 7 years and his first bike was a PW 50. Max started racing ECEA Harescrambles in 2008 and has raced every ECEA Fast Kidz 100% of these events since. This year he has finished first place for his class for the season and is in 8th place overall for the youth. Last year he also got first place in 65cc 10-11.Max has also raced this season in School Boy one time and did very well nailing fourth place.
ECEA and Brapp Mag would like to congratulate Mikey Beeler on being chosen as one of our next ECEA Fast Kidz Spot Lights. Mikey is one incredible rider who started riding at the age of 3 years old. He ran his first race at Tri-County and since then has managed to win 8 Championships since 2008. He just nailed a another National Championship this year and at this time he is in first place for his class for the ECEA / Championship Series with one race left to go and he is in second place overall for the youth. Also is 100% all ECEA Races.
He has wrapped up another Championship in the AMA National East Series in Michigan taking the win for his class and has also gotten a taste of a couple GNCC’s. He has nailed six hole shot wins, he is definitely quick on the start and doesn’t let off that throttle.
If you are wondering how this young rider got so fast, it is called putting 100% into it, training during the peak season 4-5 days a week 2-3 hours each day and even after racing season quiets down he continues to train just as hard 3 days a week. 2-3 hours each time.
He is a straight A student and is in Volley Ball Club and plays basketball. He loves to ride on the rocks and trails. Speaking to Max he feels very excited about his accomplishments in racing. He has definitely done well and I feel will continue to do so in the future. He would like to thank first off his Mom and Dad, his Grand Parents, the Blooms and his sponsors, Milehill Cycle, Cycle Gear, IMS, Pro Taper and Orange Brigade., Max Congratulations on all of these great riding accomplishments that you have done in the past year, I can certainly understand that you feel excited and feel as if you have accomplished a lot. Because of these accomplishments you have earned this spot light and we all wish you the best as you continue to grow and get faster in racing. I am sure you will go far. Congratulations.
You can see that what he has put into it, has earned him championship wins. He has been inspired by Wally Palmer, Mike Lafferty and Travis Bastromia. His favorite racing turf is the sand, he loves to ride in the sand and his favorite race this year is a toss-up between Sahara Sands hosted by MCI and Tri -County Harescramble , and as you can see both of these are sand events. Mikey asked me to put out a special thank you to his sponsors first and most important one Mom and Dad. Bromley Cycles, Factory Connect, PNG, Motion Pro who keeps his throttle from sticking, he hates a sticky throttle and Beeler Race Team. Along with wanting to say thank you to his sponsors, it was important to him to send a special thank you to Aunt Holly and Ron Decaro, Wally Palmer, his best friend Noah Palmer, Mikey and Johnny Herrshast, Austin Ranla, his sister and he could never forget his mom and dad who go above and beyond to get him to all these races and standing there right by his side with all their support. Congratulations Mikey on such great accomplishments already in racing , and I am sure you will continue to get even faster as the years go by, and someday will reach the top and be one of the top riders ever!

The two day event featured open practice on Saturday with a fast lap contest built into the afternoon. Riders had 15 minutes to go out and lay down the fastest lap of the day with $800 bucks on the line. Justin Starling from Team Traders would win it with a 1:44 fast lap to take home the majority of the cash. Other Saturday activities included Jet Ski demos in the pond, an evening downhill Barbi Jeep competition that brought the crowd to life and a classic rock band to end out the evening. Sunday awoke to a great day of racing offering Pro Am points with a $6000 Pro purse. MGX Unlimited bucked up with many other local sponsors to help fund this payout. A special thanks to them all as we saw 36 - Open A and 27 - 250 A racers take to the track. Kudos to Doublin Gap as well for creating a perfect track to test the skills of these riders to advance on to the Pro ranks.

From the Rocks of PA to the Sands of Sahara Sands N.J.
ECEA CHAMPIONSHIP is closing in on the grand finale at Ormand Farms By: Joann H. Cornelius The ECEA / AMA Championship Series riders say good bye rocks and hello sand. On the 26 and 27th of September Ridge Riders Motor Cycle Club hosted the rock run for this year at Big Bass Hare Scrambles. This was a incredible rock and grass track event and it had both technical rock sections to offer riders and a fast grass track that offered speed! The course was probably the rockiest race of this season especially for the main event riders. All classes had a taste in the rocks and on the grass track and at night for the fast kidz Ridge Riders offered the big screen TV that the fast kidz really enjoyed. Even though no fishing was able to be offered this year, the kidz had just as much of a blast as last year! The top riders for are fast kidz morning and main event are as follows. Pee-Wee 1st Kenneth Held 2nd Austin Tsakanikas 3rd Keith Tepper 4th Ryan Tepper 5th Nathan Adkins
Juniors 1st Joesph Rainone 2nd Dylan Hicks 3rd Western Greenwood 4th Kyle Grenewicz 5th Kenneth Held

Ryan Conner,
great job on your first ever race at Sahara Sands
Soon after the Big Bass riders geared up and got ready for their next event that would be back in the Sands of Sahara Sands N.J Hosted by Pine Barons Enduro riders and South Jersey Enduro Riders. Over 600 riders showed up to hit the sandy track and trails of New Jersey and because of a heavy rain storm that moved through the area on Friday night it gave the riders perfect riding conditions for both days of racing! Pine Barons offered the fast kidz some extra activity’s after their race such as a jumping tent and Ice Cream Truck, you can see that they all enjoyed it! After talking to a couple of the Fast Kidz they said that they really were glad to be back in the sand. Jaden Palmer who got first place over all pee-wee said he loved the motocross portion and that Sahara is his favorite Hare Scrambles. Sahara Sands offered a nice motocross section and open track and trails with a course of 2.5 miles for the pee-wee and juniors and a 7 mile course for the youth, a 9 mile for the morning race and the main event was 12 miles.
Kyle Mcdonal takes the
overall win at Sahara Sands
ECEA Fast Kidz at Big Bass
This was a great course for a first time rider as 12 year old Ryan Connor from Forked River N.J told me he loved it and said it was way better than playing soccer which he used to do. He said he was having so much fun that the race felt like it was only 20 minutes. He’s getting a new bike and going to race next year but he will be at Ormond to watch and learn. If he watches and learns from his cousin William Schoeneburg who is a AA rider and is in first place overall for the season he will be off to a great start with one of the ECEA’s top riders for a teacher. Thumbs up and a big thank you to all of you that help put on this event. Pine Barons, South Jersey Enduro Riders, Fire Department First Aide and to the Boy Scott who were from West Creek Troop 114. You guys did awesome and worked very hard that weekend to feed the hungry riders and guests, the food was great !!! Thank You also has to go out to the owners off Sahara Sands and Gravel for again letting the ECEA /AMA hold another event there, you help keep our events going and that means a lot to each and every one of us!!

Registration, Titling and Insuring Your ATV Who must register and title?
All ATVs in Pennsylvania, except ATVs used solely for business or agricultural purposes, need to be registered and titled with DCNR. ATVs used in Pennsylvania must be registered and titled with DCNR’s Snowmobile/ATV Section. The ATV registration and titling fees are NOT user fees for the privilege of using trails on state-owned land. The fees provide funding to administer the program, maintain trails in DCNR-managed parks and forests, and provide grants to profit and non-profit organizations for developing additional riding opportunities.
Two Types of Registrations Apply: • Registration
For ATVS used anywhere off of your own property or property leased by you, such as designated State Forest trails. $20 fee every two years
• Limited Registration
For ATVs used solely on your own land or land leased by you. Free registration No expiration, unless ownership of vehicle changes.
Plates and Decals
An ATV owner will be issued a registration plate for the vehicle. An expiration sticker to be affixed to the plate will be issued for standard registrations.
Liability Insurance
If you are using your ATV solely on land owned or leased by you, you are not required to get liability insurance. All other riders must carry liability insurance. Proof of that insurance must be carried with you when you ride. There are no minimum requirements or coverage standards established by DCNR or the Snowmobile/ATV Law for the liability insurance.

Pagoda Big Bucks Race Oct. 10-11, 2015 By: BrappMag Staff
Early October took us to the Pagoda Motorcycle Club in Birdsboro, Pa for their annual Big Bucks race. This event offered Pro Am points with another big payout sponsored by MGX Unlimited and once again the fast guys came out with 38 riders lining up for Open A and 29 for 250 A. You gotta love these yearend big money races as they let the season close with lots of excitement. Saturday saw a practice day on a beautiful fall afternoon which kept vendor row hopping. Sunday we awoke to another beautiful day and lots of racers on the gate.

MGX / Rock River Yamaha rider Joey Peters dominates the Open A class.
Another thing that I love at the Pagoda facility is the mini track that caters to the beginners and non AMA classes. Kudos to David Terry and his helpful staff of volunteers who keep these kids on the track. This event saw a 2015 record with 11 kids filling the gate in the PW50 class on this day. These kids are the future of our sport and I thank you all. It would be a battle to the finish and they celebrated with their season championship awards after the racing in the Pagoda Pavilion.

McKean Snow Riders is a great
Poe Valley Snowmobile Club (PVSC) is a Club located in the center of Pennsylvania between State College and Harrisburg right around the Seven Mountains area. PVSC was founded by a group of local riders that wanted to better the sport in our area. As a club most local members enjoy riding the vast trail systems of Bald Eagle North/South and Rothrock State Forests. Between the Rothrock and Bald Eagle State Forests there is a vast trail system ranging hundreds of miles with plenty of day trips not repeating the same trails very often. PVSC also has many members that enjoy taken extended day and multi day trips out of state. As a Club we have designated highway clean-ups, snowmobile trail/joint use clean-ups, attend various events as a club and help promote snowmobiling in our area. PVSC has made/signed and maintain various trails from State Forest trails to local businesses that are “snowmobile friendly” for us to get food and relax while out on the trails. We are always looking to extend our trail systems to help bring more options to riders both locally and ones that enjoy our local trails as well. PVSC’s website is: poevalleysnowmobileclub.com and our Facebook page is: Poe Valley Snowmobile Club. The Website has links to our Live Trail Cameras to give real time footage of the snow amounts and trail conditions. You can also download a membership form off our website. PVSC meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the Month at the Burnham OIP 7pm.
snowmobile club located in Erie County, Pennsylvania. Right in the heart of the Snowbelt area! Erie has been awarded the top snowfall city in the nation for several years. We have that great “Lake-Effect” Snow that dumps on us every year. Our club was incorporated 1975 to promote snowmobile recreation and provide trails for that purpose. Today the club has a membership of around 200 that supports and maintains over 50 miles of snowmobile trails in McKean and Franklin townships. Our trails interconnect five townships and link to two other snowmobile club trail systems in Erie County. Due to the “Lake-Effect” snow, winter recreation ranks high on the interests of area residents. Erie County ranks first in the state in registered snowmobiles over 2300 sleds! The abundant snow and associated trails attract snowmobile enthusiasts to Erie County from adjacent counties and states. A few years ago we received a grant from the DCNR that allowed us to purchase a new groomer and drag. We can now say that we have the best trails in the area! This year the McKean SnowRiders were successful in executing a project that improved and expanded our trail system. From our trails you can ride all the way to either New York or Ohio. Or both! We are a friendly club and always looking for new members. If you are interested in joining us for some fun, visit our website www.mckeansnowriders.com or find us on Facebook! Chaplains Corner Hello Brapp Fans, I enjoy writing to you and would love to know who reads my articles. If you ever see Jim Bull at an event please thank him for putting the Chaplains Corner in BrappMag. Life throws all kinds of challenges at us, Jesus said, He would never leave us nor forsake us. He died on the Cross so we could live an abundant life now and for all eternity. God presents the idea of abiding in Him repeatedly. This idea of staying in mental and spiritual contact or awareness of God is all throughout the Bible. Psalms 91 says we can abide under the shadow of the almighty. He promises if we trust Him he will be our refuge and fortress. The Lord promises to protect us if we will abide, or dwell, or live in Christ. If you are in your camper watching motocross then you are abiding in the camper. If your thoughts continually return to the Lord, how much he loves you, and the unmerited favor He gives you, then you are abiding in him. If your thoughts of God are of condemnation and guilt then you are not abiding in His Love you are abiding in religion. If we will focus on His love and how much He cares for us and not focus on our short comings, keeping our mind stayed on Him then He will give you perfect peace. With Christ as our anchor and identity we can be at peace even in a storm. Jesus said as a man thinks in his heart so is he. He has offered us the Holy Spirit to abide in us daily, take Him up on His offer and invite Him in to dwell within you. Read His word, listen to good preachers like Andrew Wommack, and go to awmi.net and find peace only Jesus can give in any storm. Where is your mind at? Your peace depends on it.
Isaiah 26:3 - Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Jesus poured out grace for all of us,

5th Annual
Bra’s For A Cause Ride Lost Trails
By: Swampcat Racing
The Fifth Annual Bras for A Cause supporting the PA Breast Cancer Coalition (PABCC), took place at the Lost Trails ATV Adventure Park in Dunmore, PA on Sunday September 13, 2015. The PA Breast Cancer Coalition is devoted exclusively to breast cancer awareness and education. They represent, support, and serve breast cancer survivors and their families in PA through educational programming, legislative advocacy and unique outreach initiatives. The PABCC was on hand to distribute informational materials and address concerns or needs that someone may have when dealing with cancer. The fund raiser started Saturday night around eight o’clock for the Lost Trails night ride. Even with the threat of heavy rains, the event attracted around 100 riders filled with excitement for a three hour adventure. It consisted of varied terrain such as rock crawls, railroad beds, winding trails, hills, mud and the best part of all was when everyone rode through the historic 800 foot tunnel. All of the fees collected for the night ride were generously donated to the PABCC. On Sunday all of the bras were hidden before nine o’clock in the morning and over 150 anxious riders geared up and were ready to go! The main attraction for the day was set around returning four bright pink bras hidden throughout the trails. If you were lucky enough to find a hidden bra you could have won a GoPro HERO 4 Silver, a big screen television, riding gear, or a year membership to the New Lost Trails ATV Park.

We would like to conclude by offering a special thank you to our platinum event sponsors and our devoted volunteers. Much gratitude must also go out to all of the riders that came out to support such a great organization year after year. We are all looking forward to the Sixth Annual Bras for A Cause Event to be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016. We are very proud to announce that we raised over $2,700.00 for PABCC this year and $13,700 during the last five years the event was held!

The 2015
Reading Off Road Riders October 11th, Pine Grove, PA. By Chris Borger
The 2015 RORR Dual Sport was held October 11th in Pine Grove, PA. The weather conditions were outstanding with clear skies and temps in the 50’s. The RORR Club did an outstanding job presenting this event. The course ran 95 miles through the Pine Grove, Tremont, Ravine, Rausch Creek, and the Blackwood areas and was well marked, with a very accurate route sheet. Trail conditions were perfect for the event. The event starts in Pine Grove at the Pine Grove Fire Department North End Station camp grounds. The Pine Grove Fire Department is a huge supporter and host for this event, providing an excellent camping area, sign-up pavilion, breakfast, lunch, and even a bike wash at the end of the day. The folks at Pine Grove are great hosts.
Nate and Heather Miely, they rode “2 up” on every option. and a couple of A options, with an optional AA section of rock garden trail. The club also routed the riders past the historic mine shafts above Tremont. The lunch and gas stop were back at camp, where the Pine Grove Fire Department cooked up a great lunch of spicy sausage, pulled pork sandwiches, and lots of drinks. The second half of the course was really outstanding. The route went into the Blackwood Trails and consisted of some of the best single track trail that can be found, with a couple of really cool stream crossings. The first options in this section were some of the best trails of the course, with high speed single track, virtually no rocks, banked turns, and fantastic up and down elevation changes. The last two options were challenging rocky sections, with large rocks covered with black mud, some roots, and actual rock gardens deep in the ferns. The main course back was fun as well, with some awesome high speed two-track through the mining areas and some great scenic views of the area. The RORR club was very organized and provided good support on the trail with lots of their members at all the sections throughout the day. Several ECEA members, and regional club members attended this year. Many thanks to the RORR Club for hosting another great Dual Sport event, and to their event sponsors: Rausch Creek Power Sports, Matto Cycle, Schaeffers KTM .com, Hermy’s.com, ECS Honda, and the Pine Grove Fire Department North End Station. You can check out the RORR club website at www.rorr.org for their 2016 schedule of events.
Mark Wilkinson and Rod Bullard. The event begins Sunday morning with a riders meeting, then it’s out to the course. The entire course ran 95 miles, with 12 A/B options. The course had a great mix of central PA terrain: miles of awesome single track action all day, with some two-track ATV type trail, challenging rock sections, stream crossings, some coal slag mud, big puddles, and some really cool elevation changes. The trails were well groomed and maintained for the event. The morning sections ran through the Rausch Creek Trail Riders area, with the main hill climb of the day,

CMATVA Rodeo By: Henry J. Sorgen IV

MOTORSPORTS INC. York , PA
President of CMATVA
Central Mountains ATV Assoc. held their 12th annual Rodeo Event on September 26, 2015 at Flat Run Speedway in Allport, Pa. We had 32 riders compete in the six different events, the Clover Leaf, Flag Race, Key Hole, Obstacle Course and the Mud Course. We had a larger crowd this year to watch the riders perform the challenging tasks. This year we still included grannie panties to our obstacle course where the rider had to stop at a station, get off their machine, put on oversized pair of grannie panties over top of their riding pants and then continue through the obstacle course, then stopping before the finish line and removing them before crossing the finish line. The crowd seemed to enjoy the added feature to the obstacle course and so did the riders. We also added a battery operated class to the lineup this year and had three battery operated units running in all six events. It was great to see the younger generation getting involved in the sport that we all love. We would like to thank all of our sponsors who donated prizes and money. Without our sponsors we wouldn’t have been able to make this yearly event happen. We would also like to give a special thank you to the three sponsors Williamsport Honda, Carnes Equipment, Bestline Powersports, Lykens Market, LMR Tires, and Revved for God. We would also like to thank Dom and Tonya Orwick for donating the race track for our club to hold the rodeo event at for the past 12 years. Additionally I would like to thank all the club members that helped to make this another successful rodeo event, without our hard working and dedicated club members we wouldn’t have made everything run as smoothly and problem free. We all work as a team for the benefit of our club to reach our one goal of providing a safe family oriented ATV riding club , which has grown to over 750 members this year.
