Hey everyone, it’s Sam from Velocity Cycles. As you may have noticed through the past few months all of the companies have been making huge changes to be competitive but to also bring the best products for the racers. To start Leatt came out with Velocity 6.5 goggle with the super wide range of vision, easy access to change the lens as well as a super strong bullet proof lens. Then 100% came out with their own version of this goggle with the Armega goggle. With its similar design to the Scott Prospect and some similar features to the Leatt goggles, they took a little bit of each to make their new top of the line goggle. I am going to continue to bring these goggles and tear offs to the track for everyone to see and purchase. The helmets have evolved in the past few months as well with the release of the new Fly Formula helmet, new styles in the 6D ATR-2 Helmet, and the all new Fox helmet. Each company has their own spin, but it seems that the research has all concluded that the low speed impacts to the sides of the head are resulting in the most injuries with the previous helmets. Fly has many different ways to combat this such as the RHEON pads as well as the Conehead Technology in the liner. With any questions on which helmet is best for you just stop by the store or contact us in any way and we will help you out.
Also, through the next 10 rounds of the MDRA season we will be picking one class to give a holeshot award to and the award will be different each weekend so come to the riders meetings to find out what class will be getting the Velocity Cycles Holeshot Award. As we go along with the MDRA series I want to make sure that everyone is getting our emails with their $10 off $20 coupon as we have had some issues with that these past two rounds so let us know if you have not received an email from us. We have many other new arrivals to check out so make sure to find us in the pits, or visit us in store in Mechanicsburg PA.

POTOMAC VINTAGE RIDERS AHRMA VINTAGE HARESCRAMBLE ROCKET RACEWAY April 14, 2019 By: Brappmag.com
Each year the Potomac Vintage Riders (PVR) kick off their off-road race season at Rocket Raceway in Huntingdon County, south central Pennsylvania. This popular series has grown over the years and this 2019 kick off event would see close to 120 entries separated by Vintage and Post Vintage classes. Here you’ll see everything from a Rokon Automatic with a pull starter to a late 60’s Triumph Street bike converted to dirt use and of course, everything in between. Many riders build two bikes so they can race in both divisions for twice the fun. The PVR sponsors a 10 race Vintage and Post Vintage Cross-Country series. The definition of Vintage is for bikes built before 1975 and Post Vintage is for bikes built from 1975 – 1994. Entrants must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Bike displacement classes are up to 200cc and Open. They do also offer a kids series for the younger riders who want to get involved. In addition, there are Age classes for those 50+, 60+, and 70+ years of age. There are further subcategories in the PV classes broken down by year. Historic 1975 – 1977, PV 1978 – 1984 (Non disk brake), Pre-Modern 1983 – 1987 (Front disk brake only) and Early-Modern 1986 – 1994 (front and rear disk brakes). All classes are further divided into Expert, Intermediate and Novice categories. Tracks are usually 3.5 – 4.5 miles long and offer a wide range of trail conditions from single track, grass track and fire roads. All races are 1 hour plus a lap on the leader. Vintage races normally start in the morning followed by the Post Vintage race 45 minutes after the end of the Vintage race. What’s this all mean you ask – it means go find yourself an affordable bike from days gone by and come have some fun. They have two events coming up in June, on the 16th in Reynoldsville, PA and on the 30th in Bellefonte, PA. See their full schedule and all the details you need on their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/456653767869135/about/ Riders meeting before the racing begins.

No doubt to the fact that Jared has always been the face you see coming in the door and he’s been the driving force not only vending at many local races but also as a competitor. Jared had to take last year off from racing to get his business legs under him, but he has picked up a few riders that compete speaking with Jared recently he told me that he plans on getting back o He will once again return to one of his loves, racing the PVR Vintage H ki PE 250. He also plans to race several of the National Enduro races on to throw on some bark busters and a skid plate and go. MDRA at Tomahawk MX April 7, 2019 - By: BrappMag.com
In early April the MDRA rolled into wild and wonderful West Virginia at the beautiful Tomahawk MX Park. I’ve been covering races here for close to 15 years now and the owners just keep throwing their heart and soul into this place year after year. This weekend brought us good racing conditions and great racing competition. I’ve been covering races with the MDRA just as long and if there’s one thing you can count on, the fast guys always show. The 50cc divisions saw little Timmy Scott grab a pair of wins, in the 65 classes Joseph Shipley and Seven Henderson were notching wins. The 85 and mini divisions saw the Canaguier brothers taking names not to mention Caldwell and Hinterberger. Names like Gage Stine, Caleb Scott and Kaleb Weller were in the house. In the amateur division Jack Rogers took three wins and local Tyler Stepek was showing the A class guys around the track and maybe my favorite, my old friend Jake Grove was on hand to win the 25 plus division. Names like Bowlin, Bentley and Dickson in the timeless age classes, and then there’s Laina Randolph who is establishing herself as the girl to beat in the region.

THE TRANSFORMATION PROJECT YOU CAN DO IT TOO. Hey all, I know that many of you have been watching my posts for well over the last year, so you know that I’m on a new mission in life. Well, that is, an added mission to everything else that I am into. In March of 2016 I had just had enough. Enough of the feeling fat, enough of the feeling bad, enough of the clothe not fitting, enough of the Dr. telling me to lose weight. Anyhow you get the picture.

I drink two meal replacement shakes a day that give me all the natural nutrition that I wasn’t getting before and I eat one good meal a day, and drink lots of water. We also cleanse out the bad toxins once a week. I’m learning that its 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. You see before I would go to the gym 3 or 4 days a week and spend an hour and a half on a treadmill or bike just literally killing myself and 6 months later I would be down 5 pounds if I was lucky. I just didn’t have the answers or the will power to eat the right stuff and the time at the gym was killing me. Today I can say I’ve lost 70 lbs and I’ve kept it off for a year and a half now and l feel better than I have in years. I know what I’m going to eat and when I’m going to eat it and I’m learning new habits that I hope will last a life time. So here’s the deal - get the right stuff in, cleanse the bad toxins out, do the 30 minute express work out at the gym 2 -3 times a week and continue on with the project. People ask me Jim, are you still drinking those shakes and I tell them I don’t think I’ll ever stop. They’ve saved my life. I hope you’ll continue to follow along with my transformation and watch the progress. Better yet if you want to join me, shoot me a message and I can help you make “the I’m fed up change” too. B

HARE SCRAMBLE RACING IN THE NORTHEAST APRIL 6-7, 2019 MILLVILLE, NJ Rd 3 SRT-AMA East Rd 1 ECEA Hare Scrambles Championship Series. Story: Kenny Held
Here we go! This is the 1st race I can remember since 2017 where I don’t begin the race recap without saying “Rain Soaked Weekend.” The weather was perfect. Some drizzle the night before kept most of the dust down for the two-day format where we were just shy of 800 riders. The Competition Dirt Riders (CDR) property was at full capacity. AMA East, ECEA and CDR staff members were working double time to provide a safe and fun event. In the main event 16 AA’s followed by an additional 240 racers would traverse a nine-mile course for two hours. At go time it was Michael McGee with the holeshot with last year’s ECEA Champion Ryder Lafferty trying to take an inside line. McGee would hold him off till the 1st woods section. In 3rd was AA newbie Paul Gerhart ringing out his TM. Unfortunately, the last section before the woods was a tad dusty so was hard to determine any positions moving forward. We had to wait for their return trip. On their way in from lap 1 we received reports that Honda’s Andrew Delong was being pursued by KTM’s Ryder Lafferty. Behind them was AA Freshman Mike Beeler Jr. aboard a, get this, KTM125. Shane Watts would be proud. When they came through scoring it was Delong by 3 seconds, Lafferty and then Beeler screaming his 125 less then 10 seconds behind them. This would continue to the midway point until we received a report that Beeler was out with an unknown injury and Lafferty would take over the lead. Beta USA’s McDonal was now in a strong 3rd place position. Delong was still keeping a healthy 2nd place position but it appeared Lafferty’s lap times were a few seconds faster. On lap 4, Lafferty would drop his bike to the ground and proceed to kick the back wheel. He apparently caught a tree root and knocked his chain off. During the struggle to remount the chain, Delong would pass him and stop. Delong could be heard yelling “Are you ok?” Lafferty gave him the thumbs up and Delong continued on. You know what they say, you meet the nicest people on a Honda. Lafferty got back up and motored on in an attempt to catch Delong but just couldn’t make it happen this day. Back in 3rd McDonal would get caught in the worst Conga Line in recorded history. Coming through the scoring shoot behind no less then 15 lapped riders that just kept falling over. We could see the frustration right through his goggles but McDonal just took it in stride and continued on. On the final lap it was Delong, Lafferty and McDonal. It was a great day for AMA East and an even better day for ECEA. In the morning C Event we had a record 350 racers. The starting lines looked like a 1980’s Grand Prix Dessert Race. The eight mile course would provide a great track with plenty of passing areas. Many of the older youth racers from Saturday would take their place on the lines as well. All eyes were on Brayden Nolette who took the Youth Overall the day before. All wondering if he could do it again. Nolette who is a freshman on the Trail Jesters KTM Off Road Team is a great kid and a great ambassador to the sport. At 15 years old he entered the School Boy 1 class. At the end of lap 1 he had already established the Overall Lead and continued to the end. Notable mention, there were several past and current Enduro AA’s that rode sportsman this day. Nolette and several of the other School Boy 1 and 2’s were producing faster lap times. Gulp! In the end it was Nolette 1st, C-200 racer “Flying” Josh Klouchek aboard his KTM 125 and SB 2 racer William Holmes - KTM in 3rd. On Saturday’s Youth Main it was another full house with just under 100 racers. Its been a while since we have seen two full front lines of super Minis. 35 in all. Behind them were the Sr 85’s, Jr 85’s and Senior Girls. On the final row were the 11-15 trail Class. And we don’t take that title literally. The trail class has produced many of the ECEA’s fastest rivals. Some great starts were recorded this day with incredible precision. We were very proud of these kids as they go through the first

several turns like synchronized swimming. Barely touching and bobbing but remaining good sportsman. The course was approximately six miles and at the end of lap one it was Trail Jesters-KTM Brayden Nolette. Nolette would establish an early lead and pull away from the pack. KTM’s Dylan Hicks would establish a solid 2nd at the halfway point. The battle now was from the 12-13 SM. Team Perfect Storms Kenito Held, KTM’s Greire Moir and Kyle Grenewicz would form a trio of passing, bobbing and weaving for the final two laps. Grenewicz and Moir would begin to pull away from Held who had a pit malfunction and was forced to pit a 2nd time. Grenewicz would pull ahead on the last lap with Moir only a few seconds back. It was later discovered that Grenewicz would melt his rear brake right off the hub. In the end it was Nolette, Hicks and Grenewicz. Notable mention goes out to Team Perfect Storms SUZ Cate Nash who would take the win in the Senior Girls and again on Sunday winning the C Womens class. Not bad for a 13 yr old. B

BIKE THEFT DISCUSSION With the decades long bike theft epidemic, we thought it might be a good idea to pass along what might be our only salvation when it comes to the loss of our beloved and valuable equipment. Unfortunately, way too many of us have experienced the frustration and lack of police involvement when it comes to this issue. So why not make sure you’ll at least be compensated if the worst happens. We spoke to local bike enthusiast and insurance agent Dan Morton about how best to protect yourself. Brapp: Dan what is the biggest reason you see people not getting insurance on their bike? Dan: Jim I think it is just lack of knowledge. Insurance can be pricey and scary but for dirt bikes, it’s cheap and easy. Brapp: What is the most important component of dirt bike insurance? Dan: By far and away the most important component is liability. Everyone thinks about the value of their bike, and they are rightfully upset if that $9000 machine gets stolen. Dan Morton – Local Racer and Insurance Agent But 20 years from now, that’s just a story you tell. The life altering incidents involve injury to others, big lawsuits, big settlements, lawyers, insurance companies. 20 years from now, you’ll still be fighting a suit from when you went head on with another rider on the track or trail. Brapp: So just how affordable are these policies? Dan: Most policies with my preferred carrier (whom I can’t mention or I’ll have to get permission to run this) cost between $75 and $150 a year for good, robust coverage on the machine as well as liability. Brapp: Are you going to hassle me for my auto and home insurance too? Dan: Well, I wouldn’t be a good agent if I didn’t, right? We don’t mind writing stand-alone policies, I have many. Of course, we would like to bring our local 22 years of experience to bear on all your insurance products, but we are also happy to just write the bike. Brapp: Thanks for your time and experience Dan. Everyone be sure to contact Dan at the info below to see what you can do to protect yourself and your equipment. B

AMSOIL Dirt Bike Products Maximize Performance of Bike and Rider AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil delivers consistent clutch feel and outstanding gear protection in four-stroke dirt bikes, providing riders the confidence they need to maximize their performance on the trail and at the track. CONSISTENT CLUTCH FEEL Clutch slippage or inconsistent clutch feel can prevent dirt bike riders from riding as fast or effectively as they like. To keep the engine within the power band, riders often modulate the clutch, increasing the opportunity for clutch slippage if low-quality lubricants are used. AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil’s superior friction-durability properties help minimize clutch slippage, fade and chatter, giving riders consistent clutch feel during takeoffs or when maneuvering around obstacles on the trail. In an extreme simulated-start test, AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil continued to deliver consistent clutch feel following 32 simulated race starts, while a leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-branded oil demonstrated inconsistent clutch-lever action and poor clutch feel after 16 starts. The clutch plates lubricated with AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil remained clean and in good overall condition, while the plates using the OEM oil revealed discoloration and wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil’s superior performance helps instill in riders the confidence that their bikes will perform consistently in all types of riding conditions.
RACING IS RESEACH™ AMSOIL corporately sponsored supercross and motocross racers identified consistent clutch feel as a key performance attribute. Consistent clutch feel is critical to motocross riders during starts to keep the bike from lurching forward prior to the gate dropping. Trail riders, meanwhile, need consistent clutch feel to confidently navigate obstacles without having to shift gears and lose momentum.
SHEAR STABILITY High-revving dirt bikes can tear apart the molecular structure of motor oil, resulting in viscosity loss. Most four-stroke bikes use a shared sump that supplies oil for the motor, transmission and primary chaincase. Transmission gears can cause shear-induced viscosity loss if inferior oils are used. Oil that has lost viscosity can fail to develop a strong lubricating film on metal components, leading to wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil’s durable synthetic base oils naturally resist viscosity loss due to mechanical shear.
PROTECTS GEARS AGAINST WEAR By retaining its viscosity despite high heat and shearing forces, AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil guards against gear wear for maximum component life, helping riders get the most out of their bikes.

Sprint Cross Country Series (SXCS) So far SXCS has treated its racers to three different formats of offroad motorcycle racing! We have already had two Cross-Country, one GP and most recently a Sprint Cross race. Seeing our racers enjoying trying new formats and successfully encouraging more crossover racing is really awesome, especially since that was one of our main goals when we first started the series! A race weekend with us consists of one race day however we like to offer our racers and their families something else to do if they’d like to spend the weekend with us. Many times we offer rider clinics or trail rides the day before the race. Check with us for activities available at different rounds.
Jimmy Barry wins the Iron Man award topping six 30 Minute motos
Ryan Canaguier was on the gas and grabbing wins all weekend
Our next round is the “Boyer Farm Sprint” on June 9th. A couple of wickedly fun courses will be laid out for you! There’s no time keeping. It’s just you against the clock. To come out on top you must limit your mistakes and put down some quick lap times. Its pure – simple and fun!
We want to take this opportunity to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the SXCS CREW which is quickly becoming our extended family! We simply couldn’t ask for a better group of people! The crew is comprised of racers and those with a deep love of our sport and like us – they want to see the sport continue to grow. Round 3 - MAMA MX Field of Dreams – Mother’s Day Race May 11-12, 2019
Aiden Case (24) wins the 50cc shaft division
By: BrappMag.com
What a difference a day makes, especially on a weekend. It seems we have been living on the weather forecast for about the last year and a half and I heard someone say on Mudders Day weekend. “What’s a MAMA race without a little rain” Anyhow, you couldn’t have asked for nicer weather on the Saturday before Mother’s Day in South Jersey – we got a full set of motos in under bright blue skies and warm temps plus the annual Mom’s Race after the motos which was a three lap format on the NJ FOD Mini track. Great racing was had by the moms who raced and the spectators who attended, especially the moms who won all that cool “lady swag” from race sponsor, Rodney Laws Studio and Salon in Annapolis, MD. After the race we all returned to our campsites for a good evening meal and to prepare for the onslaught of rain and wind that was to come. Luckily however it rained most of the night, but by race time the rain had stopped or slowed considerably which allowed us to get one full set of motos in. After that, well the skies opened again and everybody cleaned up, packed up and headed home.
Damon (411) wins this 65cc battle in the mud
Props to the MAMA organization for staying the course, to all the racers who braved the elements and especially the track staff and flaggers that endured the wind, cold and rain so the dedicated racers could run a full set of motos. Check out some images and the class winners here, then head over to www.mamamx.com to see the full set of results and www.brappmag.com to see images from all classes. Pennsyl Tuckey Tours Ashland, PA www.pennsyltuckeytours.com
GUIDED ATV ADVENTURE TOURS Former GNCC ATV racer Chuck Dunn has turned his passion for riding into a business to help others. For years Chuck and his buddies have been traveling to the coal regions of PA to ride their four wheelers and side by sides on the properties of the Famous Reading Outdoors. They loved it so much that a few years ago they purchased a house in the Ashland area because they were traveling there so much to ride. Over time Chuck learned the area well and was making friends and people started to ask him if he would “show them around”? From this whole concept “Pennsyl Tuckey Tours” was born. Yes, anyone can go to Reading and buy a yearly permit to ride. The key is knowing where to go and where to find all the cool spots. Chuck and I spent three hours riding there last month and only covered about 40 miles and he knew where we were going. Imagine going to an area that currently has 650 miles of trail on 20,000 acres of land but not knowing your way around. If you’re like me, you would spend half a day just trying to navigate. Chuck Dunn takes all those worries away. Whether you are a few riders or a larger group, Chuck can accommodate you. He can take you for an all-day ride or you can do a trail side campout over two days. He can show you where the cool hills are, the freshwater swimming hole or the old Mine Fan. And he’ll do it all at a pace that your group is comfortable with. For only $45 a person you cover your day pass with Reading and get a full day tour with Chuck. That’s hard to beat in my eye. Check out his website, find him on Facebook or give him a call at: 570-900-4533 and be sure to tell him Brapp Mag sent you. B

Round 4 SRT AMA East Hare Scrambles Championship Series NETRA’s Tri State MC. - Holiday Mountain Monticello, NY Photos: Brian LaCroce Story: Kenny Held “Kordana on Holiday” Round 4 of the SRT AMA East Hare Scrambles Championship Series hosted by NETRA’s Tri State MC. One day the norm going to be, “ Hey, you remember that weekend it was sunny and dry?” 4 rounds have passed and 3 have been rain soaked. Rd 4 was no exception. Constant rain on Friday and Saturday left the trail workers scrambling to provide a safe and fun event. The venue is a ski resort with you guessed it, mountainous trails. By the middle of the youth event, we had documented waterfalls on the trails. Luckily the mountain terrain consists of loamy dirt with a rock base. As wet as it was, there was still plenty of traction and the course held up well for all the heats. In the main event 20 AA’s got their lift tickets and lined up for the 2 hour event. This was one of the largest AA turn outs thus far for 2019. In the 1st turn it was KTM’s Nic Kordana with the holeshot. Nic would stay in the lead for most of the 1st lap. Gaining momentum in 2nd place was GAS GAS mounted Brendan Riordon. As they came out of the last woods section it was Riordon in the lead but only by a few seconds. These 2 would trade up no less then 5 times throughout the event making for some incredible racing action. KTM’s
John Kelley was back in 3rd trailing by about 40 seconds by the half way point. Last years Holiday Mountain winner, Beta’s Brian Dussault, suffered a not so great start and was climbing his way through the pack in 6th position. On the White flag lap, Kordana and Riordon would continue their battle for 1st while Dussault and Kelley were battling for the final podium spot. In the end Kordana would make a final lap pass on one of the uphills as Riordon would suffer a crash on one of the down hills. Dussault would make the pass on Kelley for 3rd.

In the C event, the overall winner was emerging from the 250 line. James Baker and Dan Forgione would immediately challenge each other at every uphill and downhill. With a semi clear field, they would follow the well defined ruts from the earlier youth event. The 1.5 hour event would declare Forgione king of the hill and a final push by Vet racer Brendan Dwyer would bump Baker down to 3rd for the day. In the Youth Main, 60 young warriors would be the advance party into the rain soaked track. Just getting to the starting line was a challenge for some of the smaller bikes. If you got the hole shot it was best to just stay on the pipe and don’t look back. Any racer that turned back found themselves in a 180. The youth actually ran the same loop that the C Racers would ride later in the day. On lap 1 it was clear that Kyle Grenewicz (12-13 Super mini) was gaining on the O/A leader Alex Kiander (14-16 Super mini). directly in pursuit of Grenewicz was “Team Perfect Storms” Kenito Held (12-13) Super mini. By the 2nd lap, both Grenewicz and Held would pass Kiander and begin their won battle. Grenewicz kept it smooth and persistent in the rocks and Held would air it out on the MX track. Unfortunately for Held there was more rocks then MX and he would have to settle for 2nd this day. Holding on to 3rd for the day was Kiander. B TOP 5 - MAIN 1. Nic Kordana - KTM 2.
